I've seen AAR perform twice in concert and their live performances have come a long way. Type in the live performance for "Another Heart Calls" and you'll see that Tyson does a much better job live when he's not confined to the bass guitar. His quirky personality, and vocal talent are better on display when he has freedom to roam around the stage. You can't make a judgement on a band based on one song. At least they write all their own songs, and in this era in music, that's saying something.

I saw him again the next summer at the California State Fair, and the whole band was average at best. He slid a lot of the notes and rushed through most of the songs. It was rather disappointing. However in the youtube videos I've seen of more recent performances in the past two years w/out the guitar, his live singing is great!

This is what "emo" used to be. Simple emotional rock (although this is somewhat pop as well). This is basically right before the emo movement turned into the Green Day: American Idiot, My Chemical Romance, and 30 Seconds to Mars made it into a different type of music and a different type of look.
If you want to check out what "real emo" is, look back at Jimmy Eat World's Clarity CD and similar music - not overproduced and it's actually really good (they kind of rode the post-grunge movement)

Idiot. This isn't one of Rush's songs at all. It has the same name. The instrumentation is completely different, as are the lyrics. This song was never intended to be a cover of any Rush song.

on rock band all american rejects are listed as an 'emo' band lol. they're the only ones too (that i know of) that are listed as that. i can think of many more bands that could be considered emo.

I personally love it when I can relate to songs. Love is something that every person in the world faces one time in their life.
AAR writes amazing songs about those old high school romances, rejections, etc...I love it :)

This is what "emo" used to be. Simple emotional rock (although this is somewhat pop as well). This is basically right before the emo movement turned into the Green Day: American Idiot, My Chemical Romance, and 30 Seconds to Mars made it into a different type of music and a different type of look.
If you want to check out what "real emo" is, look back at Jimmy Eat World's Clarity CD and similar music - not overproduced and it's actually really good (they kind of rode the post-grunge movement)
