  • Hi I am making a short film, and for its music , not able to find any "MUSIC DIRECTOR" whom I can afford / bear with /have rapport with. If anyone of you are, and know anyone of yours, who is good at carnatic classical music and wants to do one song and background score for my project , please send PMs to me.

  • I'm an Australian of Latvian parentage, who fell in love with India's culture just over twenty years ago now, and this is an example of why I am still smitten. One of these days I'm going to get to touch the dust of this sacred land in person. To the land which has borne so many saintly beings, and blessed by the touch of Buddha's feet, I pay my respects - namaste.

  • MS IS INCOMPARABLE

  • Being a Panjabi, though I dont understand south languages, but music has no language, I like Karnatik music very much, particularly M.S.Sublakshmi, who is institution in this region...Her voice really take oneself to eternal infiniti...

  • MS was considered as a saint. You have to listen to "Alaipayuthe by K S Chitra ".Her voice is also mesmerizing

  • T.K.Murthy's Mridangam is excellent!

  • Just getting in to this music. Beautiful precise voice. Looking forward to hearing more.

Dont know why people have to argue about a such great artist as she obviously was. Surely the important thing is the music.

  • one of the great carnatic singer in the south with lots of followers

  • MS was Tamil - born into a famous musical family. Her primary teacher was the great Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. The reason why it is not correct to compare her to Lata is that her training was in the classic Carnatic tradition and therefore was a form of Bhakti. Her reknown genius came from her extraordinary devotional music. No woman of her time came even close to her perfected voice. It will take long for anyone to match her achievments.

  • her voice is so divine. there are soo few singers who can give passion to the name of god in their songs.

  • it is a wonderful coverage of the immortal MS amma lakshmanan

  • divine...just divine! no other word can be right....or good enough.

i love that shivranjani is used to praise gopala...for they worship one another.

in my cognition of reality... are one and the same.

  • great goddesssssss

  • Subhanallah! Subalakshmi was indeed a saint - a most beautiful voice.

  • honey for the ears and milk for the heart

  • The first song is in Sanskrit language.

The 2nd one is in Tamil language; Composer: Sri S. Rajagopalachari; he was a premier Sanskrit scholar; philosopher; and a great statesman. He is also goes by the name: Rajaji.

Title of the song: Kurai Onrum

It is set in Raagamalika (i.e., multiple Raagas or scales).

The gist of the song: I don't see any flaws in you ; the song addressed to Lord Krishna.

  • I have no grievances at all absolutely is the meaning of kurai onrum illa... not i see no flaws in u... God dosent have flaws ... :)

  • @hometownblr

sorry the gist is : "I don't have any wants"

  • Nice work

  • i can die listening to her voice.....

  • Very Good work..one of the great singers whom we will all miss a lot. God Bless.

  • So many people talk about her .But when she was ill in her last days of her life ,she was admitted St.Isabel Hospital in chennai.Nobody was there as an attendant also.Very Pity.I saw this when my mother was admitted in the next ward from t he great M.S.Subbulakshmi

  • really?that's sad.

  • what a beautiful journey!

    thank you so much!

  • can somebody tell me what the song means

    ??

  • It is in Sanskrit...Composed by Annamacharya who lived more than 500 years ago. Gist...(I have translated as much as I could...)

I think of young Krishna; I think of his lotus feet

    He is adorned with (waist) band (or belt) studded with small bells and gems; those tiny bells making sound;

  • He who is an expert in stealing butter; the one who is saluted (or respected) by Brahma and other gods; The one who sits atop the hills of Tirupati; that lord of lords (or the best of the best), the one who is incomparable; my heartfelt salutations to that Gopala.

  • Ok - found it

    1st song: Bhavayami Gopalabalam

    2nd song: Kurai Ondrum Illai

Awesome songs - thanks for this compilation. I made a compilation for the other Bharat Ratna, so do check it out.

  • Hi,

Since this is not a language I speak, yet love the music, can someone please tell me the title/name of the two songs played?? And possibly, where to get them in mp3 format??

    Thanks very much.

  • The first one is: Bhavayami Gopala Balam; set to Yaman Kalyani Raaga (or scale). It was composed by Annamacharya who lived more than 500 years ago.

  • Annamacharya dates from 1100's so he is nearly 900 years old, The saddes part is even though they found the songs he wrote, we dont have any idea how he sang them himself. All his lyrics were later composed by contemporary carnatic musician. BUt we are lucky that we are listening to a song written 1000 years back. we should be proud of our heritage

  • I have posted the meaning...Pl. check it out...

  • she is so beautiful and a devoted carnatic singer. let her soul rest in peace forever at the hand of god

  • she is so beautiful :)

  • nabhootho nabhavishyathi

  • Truly awesome video. Thanks very much for taking the effort and sharing it with us all.

  • Once in a while God sends someone like Smt. SubhaLakshmi, to prove his/her existence. Life time of devotion and meditation to know God!? That is for Rishies and Mahaans. For rest of us, listening to SubhaLakshmi would do.

  • She is an immortal soul. Gives in outr hearts for ever! God bless MS AMMA...

  • i love indi music, thanks

  • She is defanitly a gandarva from the Heavenly planets!

  • Excellent video. Music of MS was able to touch Helen Keller - proof music has no boundaries. Thanks for the video.

  • Your intention is clear. Honouring MS, let me tell you that Helen Keller was deaf and dumb - but one of the greatest ever human being she was!
