Hi I am making a short film, and for its music , not able to find any "MUSIC DIRECTOR" whom I can afford / bear with /have rapport with. If anyone of you are, and know anyone of yours, who is good at carnatic classical music and wants to do one song and background score for my project , please send PMs to me.
m s was a beautiful gift of god to the human kind ...........devotion took the avatar of subbulakshmi to connect the human beings to god......wish i ll die while listening these songs......
I'm an Australian of Latvian parentage, who fell in love with India's culture just over twenty years ago now, and this is an example of why I am still smitten. One of these days I'm going to get to touch the dust of this sacred land in person. To the land which has borne so many saintly beings, and blessed by the touch of Buddha's feet, I pay my respects - namaste.
So true! Bharat Desh(India's ancient name) is like a a diamond mine of such great souls :) Totally agree with you and hope you are successful and have a blessed trip to this holy land, by the grace of God.

@xxxsteve1 The first song is one of the great Sanskrit compositions of the incomparable saint Sri. Annamacharya on Lord Venkateswara. Rendered divinely by legend Smt. Subbalakshmi
Thanks very much for this lovely collage and the even lovelier song as a backdrop. You couldn't have chosen a more appropriate song for the collage. There never had been a divine singer like MS, and there never will be.

Being a Panjabi, though I dont understand south languages, but music has no language, I like Karnatik music very much, particularly M.S.Sublakshmi, who is institution in this region...Her voice really take oneself to eternal infiniti...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I like her singing a lot - but i have to say I wish she sang alone - singing with a backup says that sometimes my voice fails and the backup can cover it up, i guess she did this as she got older?
Also does she know Telugu? She sings "Kata Kata Padithi" when it should be "Katta Kadapadithi" (not this song)
MS was Tamil - born into a famous musical family. Her primary teacher was the great Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. The reason why it is not correct to compare her to Lata is that her training was in the classic Carnatic tradition and therefore was a form of Bhakti. Her reknown genius came from her extraordinary devotional music. No woman of her time came even close to her perfected voice. It will take long for anyone to match her achievments.
Annamacharya dates from 1100's so he is nearly 900 years old, The saddes part is even though they found the songs he wrote, we dont have any idea how he sang them himself. All his lyrics were later composed by contemporary carnatic musician. BUt we are lucky that we are listening to a song written 1000 years back. we should be proud of our heritage.
The 2nd one is in Tamil language; Composer: Sri S. Rajagopalachari; he was a premier Sanskrit scholar; philosopher; and a great statesman. He is also goes by the name: Rajaji.
Title of the song: Kurai Onrum
It is set in Raagamalika (i.e., multiple Raagas or scales).
The gist of the song: I don't see any flaws in you ; the song addressed to Lord Krishna.
So many people talk about her .But when she was ill in her last days of her life ,she was admitted St.Isabel Hospital in chennai.Nobody was there as an attendant also.Very Pity.I saw this when my mother was admitted in the next ward from t he great M.S.Subbulakshmi
He who is an expert in stealing butter; the one who is saluted (or respected) by Brahma and other gods; The one who sits atop the hills of Tirupati; that lord of lords (or the best of the best), the one who is incomparable; my heartfelt salutations to that Gopala.
Since this is not a language I speak, yet love the music, can someone please tell me the title/name of the two songs played?? And possibly, where to get them in mp3 format??

Once in a while God sends someone like Smt. SubhaLakshmi, to prove his/her existence. Life time of devotion and meditation to know God!? That is for Rishies and Mahaans. For rest of us, listening to SubhaLakshmi would do.
No match to her devotion, humility, perfection and discipline

It is in Sanskrit...Composed by Annamacharya who lived more than 500 years ago. Gist...(I have translated as much as I could...)
I think of young Krishna; I think of his lotus feet
He is adorned with (waist) band (or belt) studded with small bells and gems; those tiny bells making sound;

He who is an expert in stealing butter; the one who is saluted (or respected) by Brahma and other gods; The one who sits atop the hills of Tirupati; that lord of lords (or the best of the best), the one who is incomparable; my heartfelt salutations to that Gopala.
