Those are Gallimimus. Their name means "chicken mimic". They were beamed into a spaceship. They had to fly it in the pattern of an asteroid to fool the Great Valley and then headed to Planet Rainbow Face in a pattern only Littlefoot could see. And I've seen their spaceship. Tada!!! PROOF!!! It was a green flying saucer with the same blue stripes as the Rainbow Faces and a big red ? on the front. You seen those two get beamed and then pretend to be a space rock?!

This would cause a disruption in time and space, which is probably prohibited by whatever inter-stellar rules and regulations these two beings were supposed to be following.

@TabalugaDragon The Troodon was *not* more intelligent than humans. It just had the largest brain per head size of any dinosaur. In reality, the Troodon was only about as smart as a chicken. And Word of God says that the two "Rainbow Faces" are Troodons. As does their body structure, markings, and movements.

It's implied (though somewhat vaguely until the end) that the two Gallimimus ("rainbow faces") are more than they seem - aliens, even. When Sarah's father asks if they're not from around here, the female replies "You might say that."

As for why they look like gallimimus, it's perfectly possible that they chose to take the form of that specie of dinosaur to blend in, as a "rainbow face" appears in a later movie.

Considering the fact that there is no evidence to suggest that in their, what three hundred million or so years there was no dinosaur civillisation, whereas we've managed it within a space of two million years.
