  • Do they get somewhat "tame" after becoming a butterfly, since they let you keep them on yout hand as larva?

  • have any of u guys experienced this i found a few monarch cats and they never seem to grow like they molt but don't grow help?

  • The morphing reminds me of the alien in "Alien".

  • Nature is fucking mind boggling insane

  • What did you write on him with and when my cinnabar moth hatches will it be safe to write on him as well? Its a good idea!

  • where did you buy them?

  • do you mean monarchs are poisonous if you eat it? Or do you have to wash your hands after you handle them poisonous?

  • @solantap theyre only poisonous if you eat them im not sure if theyre poisonous to humans but if a bird tries to eat it, the bird will spit it out and i think they would possibly die

  • its funny cuz you marked it in an extremely obvious and bright colour making it quite vulnerable to predators.

  • thanks for sharing, i've been raising monarchs for a year now and i'm anxiously waiting for them to come back in the spring...the milkeed plants are ready!

  • That was fabulous, the close-ups were amazing. It's summer here and we've had loads of monarch caterpillars on our milkweed plants but once they grow big I never can find a cyrysalis formed. It's baffling. Perhaps they move off to another type of plant, who knows.

  • @newland50 they do go to other trees, gutters, window frames, even under tables & chair, so be in the lookout you may spot them anywhere they attach to good luck!

  • I will be uploading a video in which I will take you around the kind of place and plants a monarch comes and lays its eggs. Unfortunately it has taken me all of yesterday, deleting and editing etc ...

  • Hi! I got some milkweed leaves to feed my painted grasshopper and found a beautiful green chrysalis suspended from one of the leaves. The chrysalis is transparent now... awaiting the emergence of the new butterfly :)

  • Hey ! I found mine on butterfly weed and I have planted seeds in my backyard for them to come next spring .The fourth generation that migrates to Mexico cannot have Milkweed leaves they are too tough by the end of August!

  • u wrote on it!!!!!!!!

  • This was a male because of the spots at the back. Thanks for sharing.

Mine was in the cocoon for 11 days and i traveled with it from Short Hills, New Jersey to Rochester and back again.

  • @Mullikaji1 Its not a cocoon, it is a chrysalis

  • this is so beautiful! i am also currently raising some monarch caterpillars as well. We were keeping the milkweed in a vase inside of an enclosed habitat, but since there are SO many and im going on vacation within a week, we are buying a milkweed plant to transfer them on. One of mine named "Stripes" is in his cocoon!

  • @MegzNoelzProductionz Wow I love your enthusiasm. Which part of the world are you in ?What is the temperature like there now ? Best of luck on adding beauty to the world.

  • @Mullikaji1 I live in Florida! There are so many monarch's here! And thank you :) By now they've all grown up but I can't wait for next season to start again !!!

  • It's beautiful, thanks for sharing this

  • They are poisonous to eat.

  • Well they have teeth but they don't bite because they only like eat leaves

  • its poisonous due to its diet of milkweed plants

  • Poison is ingested.

    Venom is injected.

  • This is wonderful!

  • wait... they dont have teeth do they xD

  • you said they are poisonous in the description, does that mean to eat, or if they bite?

  • Glad to hear you're raising Monarchs. I recently became interested in doing so myself so I purchased common milkweed seeds and grow the milkweed. Recently I have had Monarchs lay eggs and have had caterpillars but they don't last long because predators (spiders, wasps, etc.) are killing them for food. Any way that I can stop the predators and raise the caterpillars WITHOUT them being attacked and killed? Your advice is appreciated! Thanks! John
