  • Was this the same Gene Hughes that was the center of a sex scandal back in 2002?

  • @jarhead4God

    No, not the same guy.

  • How sad...Did not know Gene was gone. Another wonderful voice silenced. Thank God for tapes like this so he will live on with us.

  • One of the most beautiful songs of the '60s, with as Gene said...going back to the 50s. A wonderful voice...will sadly be missed after all these years since his passing.

  • The 1 dislike must work for the DMV. They don't like anything.

  • REMEMBER THIS SONG???

    ARE YOU KIDDING!!!

ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER RELEASED!!

GENE HUGHES WAS THE BEST , THIS SONG WAS ALSO ONE OF THE BEST SLOW DANCES EVER!

    WHAT MEMORIES!

    JUST BEAUTIFUL

  • What a wonderful song. I love watching all of these great singers of the past when music was music. One question, is that Nedra Talley from the Ronnettes who gets up and dances?

  • @kgradwelll

Yes, that is Nedra. She is dancing with Jewel Akens, the guy who did "The Birds and the Bees."

  • Geezus! This just gave me chills! What great tunes!!

  • what ever...it wasnt that hot when he sang it..

  • This song STILL sends chills up my spine....guess I'm a sentimental old fool....lol

  • One of my favorite songs. Heard it as a kid, it sounded old even then in the best of ways. Miss you man.

  • Gene Hughes, gone home much to soon. May you rest in our Lords Eternal and Peaceful Light. Thank you Gene, for all the memories.

  • I am 54 years old and have no memory of hearing this song when released in 1967. Certainly it sounds like a song from the late 1950s. Besides the outstanding vocal, arrangement (love the organ!), and lyrics, I am struck by the enthusiasm of his peers to this performance. Even the guy in the piano jacket, who seems indifferent in many other videos, is enjoying this song. The entire group knows the lyrics and is singing along. I suppose a group of peers is the best judge of quality.

    Thank You

  • Thank You Gene and may God Bless You Always...Good night...

  • Both Integrating and Bonding require compromise and relational maintenance. At the most basic level, relational maintenance refers to a variety of behaviors used by partners in an effort to stay together (Family, 2010). I think the most coveted relational “trophies” in this song would be those as “Kiss me each morning..,” “Hold me each evening..,” and “Soften my dreams…”

  • I remember when this song came out it was a hit. I was sadden for his passing.

He had great talent, and his voice was still as good as when he first sang this song. RIP Gene

  • Love this guys voice..

  • Well. each one of the artist that you see in these videos was on a hit song. But I think what s more important is the respect and love that they give to one another. Just look at the class thet these artis have. Not like today. " Hey I have grease on my jeans cause I was in the parking lot working on my ride". " Then they said I had to come and perform." Shall I say no no, and na na? These were indeed the GOLDEN YEARS.

  • You rascal you DooWopJoe! You made me stay up til 12:30am to watch these awesome songs and singers! I loved Gene Hughes from the Casinos (Rest in Peace), Jimmy Clanton "Venus in Blue", Billy Joe Royal, Jimmy Gilmer's "Sugar Shack", Pat Upton (from Spiral Staircase) and of course Frankie Ford the best! Those guys rocked in this performance as did the rest of the singers! Thank God for YouTube and for you my friend. Rock and roll is here to stay! Forever.

  • @ChicagoBoomBoom

Ha, yeah, they are addictive, aren't they? Glad you enjoyed them!

  • @ChicagoBoomBoom I believe that this was the last "Oldie" song as we knew "Oldies".

  • Fantastic talent, just fantastic. I still get goosebumps every time I hear it.

  • Thank you, Gene, for blessing us with your voice. RIP

  • I thought Gene passed in 2008

  • @skopskald

No, Gene passed away in February, 2004.

  • the back-ground singers.....

they are the part of the sole of each song.

  • wonderful, I am lost for words, thank you for sharing, A true talent. I am sorry for his family and for his fans on his passing.

  • Beautiful

  • thank you for posting these wonder oldies but goodies, can't explain the wonderful serene feeling of seeing these singers after loving their songs of my teen years.

  • Who is the lady at 1:36?

  • @camrod94

It is Nedra Talley Ross, who was one of the Ronettes.

  • @DooWopJoe Thanks for posting this classic. Can you identify any others in this clip? They have familiar faces, but I can't seem to place them.

  • @gingerbread1231

The others include David Sommerville (of the Diamonds), Ray Peterson, Jimmy Clanton, Otis Williams, Dickey Lee, Frankie Ford, and Dee Dee Sharp. If you go thru my videos you will find performances by them and most of the others you see.

  • @DooWopJoe I definitely will take a look. I have already subscribed to your postings. I did forget to ask, approximately what year this was and where were they?

  • @gingerbread1231

It was in 1999 in Nashville.

  • this was the first song my wife to be ever danced to .... this was a blind date, i was in the army , as a medic... our first date was the third week of februry 1967...this song has a special place in my heart. over 43 years

  • an all time great song..Kiss me each morning for a million years...if it don't work out then you can tell me good bye!!

  • RIP to an amazing performer.

  • Mt friend TJ who produced all those great Doo Wop shows on PBS did not to earn a paycheck but to catalog all of these great entertainers on video as library for the music of the 50s and 60s while these people were still with us. So many have gone since his shows. Thank you TJ !
