  • im from mckean co. and trust me all cops here think the badge means they can do whatever they want and get away with it . half the cops in bradford smoke dope .

  • @markusruhl79 ...perhaps then you should get a police job there and maybe help change things for the better...ever think of that?

  • Cowards!!!! Picking on that old man. You cops are pathetic.

  • that fat pig is a pussy bitch!!

  • filthy pig cops are worse than the fascists this vet fought in WWII.

  • the grandpa is at fault. you can't yell and scream at cops. they will perceive it as a threat and "disturbing the peace". he should have conducted himself in a civil manner. If he couldn't help his family member at that moment he should have used the court system, in a civil manner

  • @PhuckHue2 : you are sadly misinformed. You can yell and scream at cops. They are not exalted beings. BTW, you can even flip off cops. It's called freedom of speech--look it up sometime.

And, it's not disturbing the peace. Disturbing the peace applies to loud, obnoxious conduct that actually disturbs the public peace at an unreasonable time and manner...not the comfort or sensibilities of some on-duty thug (aka, sheriff) in a police station parking lot.

  • @ed2276 you cant hear what grandpa is saying. he might have made violent threats

  • all i know is if that was my grampa i would kick the daylight out that pig cop

thats a real shame poor old guy

  • my dads in there...

  • @sjvanhorn94 .. it usually takes breaking the law to get in there and into places like that, to avoid places like that it really does help to not break the law. If you feel he does not deserve to be in there then join the police force and make it better or join the government and maybe you could make a big difference making things better. Its really up 2 u...take a beating and run...take a beating and stand up for yourself ..take a beating and stand up for what is right.

  • i thaught he was going to hurt his vet, not a vet

  • I love how his deputies won't even assist him. I wouldn't either if it were me standing there. PIG!!!

  • the watson family has been in contact with the ACLU with absolutely no response; they wont even return a phone call... the family is looking into taking other legal actions against the sheriff and his goonies.. i only wish that this would hurt his chances for relection, but of course no one is running against him. if anyone knows of a good; eager and willing lawyer thats not afraid of mckean county please let us know. hope that the sheriff and his goonies pay for what they have dont.

  • This is why I have no respect for the fat assed pigs in Smethport. The sheriff dept. is a joke anyway. Serve a couple warrants and court orders and run away from real emergencies. What a bunch of brave men manhandling the vet the way they did. Fucking jokes these low life scumbags are.

  • @tom14x ...man go get a job as a cop or run for some office.. it is YOUR community,,, you can make a difference

  • I am tired of law enforcement officials thinking they can treat people like this. This happends every single day across America it is just too bad that it has to happend to an old WWII veteran or an old grandmother for someone to take notice.

  • I don't have a dog in this fight, but also don't like the shit slinging from both sides. The situation could have been handled better by both parties.

A bunch of you should STFU.

  • The Sheriff used his training and experience and took control of the situation before it escalated. The Sheriff stood fast while the signs of trouble were blatantly displayed. Then he took charge just in time or there may have been terrible headlines in the Bradford Era the next morning. Everybody knows trouble breeds trouble up there in the hills Welcome to McKean County Pennsylvania.

  • The trouble making Watson left his Granddaughter standing there waiting. I really dont know and doesnt much give a rats ass, but was the Vet going to his vehicle to grab his firearm. The Sheriff had all the reason in the world to do exactly what he did. Its pretty damn clear Watson was going to get something to even the playing field and return to the jail for some action. The 'ol dudes got nothing to lose; hes 87 years old and known to be a hot head.

  • It's amazing how quickly everyone becomes legal experts. IF an attorney takes this civil suit, I'd be surprised. IF there is a judgment against the Sheriff, I'd be even more surprised. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. But, with the legal training and courses that I've had, I see no case. I don't see the Attorney General looking into this matter.

Anyone can run for Sheriff, regardless of education or law enforcement background. Run against him at the next election.

  • lily you make me sick to my stomach you and your bed partner need to be dropped off in the middle of baghdad and left to die..your wasting our air..your not worthy and niether is your fat azz pig

  • 12desiree21, I know, it can be sickening to realize that you are ignorant and wrong. But I'm guessing from your inability to spell and use punctuation that you've spent your life that way. If you have something intelligent to add to the conversation, we'd all love to see it.

  • lily must be giving the cop head.. are your parents dead you old hag? i hope so i hope this cop never gets the chance to hurt your father this way you old stupid azz bat

  • what was this old man gonna do i think this fat azz cop should be placed in the middle of raq with nothing and surrounded by terrorists this is the same situation this old man was put in

  • lily ur an idiot the fat azz cop chased the man outside for what FQN reason he chased him down and the old man got in his face THATS ALL U SEE if he had asaulted the cop inside then he would have been arrested in there this cop needs to be fired this is bullshit and all you inbreds protecting him i hope this happens to you when your 87

  • Isn't it ironic that this 87yr old vet who went to Europe to fight the tyranny of a Nazi Police State, 60 years later becomes a victim of the same Nazi style police tactics in our own country. Where is the justice? Sheriff Brad Mason you disgust me.

  • The sheriff should take into consideration that this is an 87 year old man and show some mercy. He posed no physical threat to the sheriff and in all fairness the sheriff did walk up and got in the mans face. In my opinion this is where training should override emotion or anger.

  • Brad Mason is a pig cop. He's a big bully and a piece of S***T! Everyone now knows just what a scum bag he is. There was no head but. I hope he gets sued big time.

  • excuse me maybe i was watching something different but wasnt the man clearly walking away when tough guy sheriff got back involved? let him leave jackass and do your job which is serve. i hope you lose this re-election because of this though guy!!! and why the arm bar?

wasn't he in cuffs and having difficulty walking and keeping up? oh he was but that just made you feel like a bigger tough guy.

  • You need to watch it again...

  • have a few more jack d...his job isn't to serve some belligerent toad and let him get away with breaking the law. If this guy was outside your house acting like that you wouldn't waste any time calling the cops.

  • If the guy was out in front of my house walking to his van, i wouldn't think twice to ignore it and let him get in his van and drive away. He wasn't angry at any point in the video until Mason's fat ass comes out and says stuff to him.

  • Unfortunately, you can't see what happened prior to him going into the parking lot, you can't hear what he is saying while he was out there. We don't know if he asked to speak with Mason, which would have been a good reason for Mason to go outside. Watson obviously wasn't leaving or his granddaughter would have been with him. It's easy to make assumptions based on 2 min of video w/o sound and some false inflammatory statements made by a less than upstanding man. Watson is a liar.

  • think maybe mason's goonies held the granddaughter inside because they knew mason was going outside and what he was up to???? possibility isnt it???

  • lawabider100 ; you better take another count....

  • audio to something like this is key... I mean I hate pigs just as much as the next guy, but to be fair the old guy was clearly getting in the cop's face... so much so that you can see his hat hit the cop... I imagine what was coming out of his mouth wasn't exactly poetry... I think it's funny that there is some kind of assumption that 87 year old veterans can't be ignorant, hot headed jerks just like any other redneck...

  • Sheriff Mason, thank you for all that you do for McKean County! Support for you is as strong as ever. The few individuals on this site are the minority. 99% of county residents are behind you and all the great law enforcement officers in our county. Keep up the good work!!

  • LawAbider100: Why do you continue to post propaganda on this site? If you truly felt that 99% of the public supported Sherrif Mason's position, then why waste your time throwing insults to a 1% fringe group? Why label us as illiterate, anti-law, and former inmates? Here's why. Because you know that this incident has further jeopardized Mason's character, reputation, and possibly his reelection. BOTH men were at fault, and an objective viewer can see that. BOTH should be held accountable!

  • I hope )o

  • These fucking pigs are going to push until we fight back. The pigs will be the first to get the justice from our new courts of the people.

  • anyone interested in protesting outside of courthouse in smethport .. please let the family know

  • If you wanna get rich, just cuss out a cop.. Their fragile little egos can't handle it. Cops today are like little bully high school kids. And should be treated as such. Beat the shit out of one bully and the rest will start to fall in line.

  • In the News paper interview Mason claims he was simply coming out to see what he could do to help Mr.Watson.

  • dont worry; those pigs will burn in hell forever

  • Looks like excessive force to me. The guy was leaving and then provoked by the three police. Why did the big guy have to shove the old guy? Then after roughing him up against the van, he jerked his handcuffed arms so hard dragging him , that his hat flew off. Pitiful behavior by the elected one.

  • An article on this incident can be found in the Olean Times Herald - it's online and dated Oct. 2, 2009

  • It makes me sick to watch this. Who in their right mind would physically abuse an 87 year old man....no matter what names he is hollering? I think this is the end of the line for this ELECTED sheriff! It certainly should be. The swagger, ugh!!! Awful!

  • The guy was leaving. Let him leave. Instead the sheriff escalated the situation by getting in this guy's face and shoving him. What kind of police training has he received? You NEVER get that close to an individual when armed with a weapon. Police are supposed to be trainined in how to de-escalate a situation. This guy did that direct opposite. I almost always side with the officer in these kind of situations but in this case, the officer was wrong. This ain't the old west Sheriff.

  • WTF Did the man do??? POS COPS!!

  • ....

  • i hope sheriff Mason feels very proud of himself and his goonies,,,, that is takes 3 men to overpower an 87 year old vet.. we should all sleep better tonight knowing this... i dont have much confidence in the sheriff dept. if it takes 3 of them to subdo an eldrely man. how many of them would it take to overpower a 300 pound man with a bad attitude; and would fight back. but then they probably wouldnt attempt that. maybe the female goonies could do it for him

  • watson was cleary leaving mason was lookin 4 conflict when he followed watson outside ,4 all u ppl who think mason is this amazing sheriff do u c wat happens he drops his gun , which cleary could cause a tradegy the gun could have gone off @ impact this could have cleary injured or killed watson or himself i think he should pay more attention 2 himself &concentrate on murderers and the child molesters that over populate the mckean cnty jail instead of picking on & abusing 87 yr old wwii vets

  • bitchybrunette89...you are correct. It was his daughter IN-LAW. So it wasn't Watson's offspring that is a jail bird, Watson's offspring married a jail bird.

  • You people are sick.. This man is almost 90 years old!! hes not allowed to get mad...?! and so what if he tried to pay with cash 500 times!? old people are senile.. i agree that cops have to boost their ego... and excuse me but this old man was trying to help his daughter in law it is NOT your business on why she was in jail if more than once its still not your business.. FAMILY HELPS FAMILY.. this video makes me sick.. you should be in prison you make other cops look bad..

  • jail records are public and mr watson has never been there to bail anyone out before.. just becuase Mason says so does not make it true. court records will speak for themselves.

  • I just read the newspaper account about this. I sided with the cop until I saw the video. Obviously Mr. Watson is upset and is seen leaving. It appears the sheriff follows him out to be a hard ass. I'm sure if Sheriff Mason would have used common sense and statyed inside this wouldn't have happened. A form of entrapment - he'll go outside to show off his ego and let the old man keep talking until just the right moment, then arrest him.

  • Comment removed

  • kjclark1963; for one thing his daughter has been dead for over 25 years so get it straight it was his daughter in law ; and she has not been arrested several times; this is the first time ever being in jail.. if you are so stupid and blind that you can not watch this video and see the truth; then you are more ignorant than the sheriff. of course you are gonna say that you are one of them... you douche bag.. how old is your father?? maybe someone could knock the hell out of him..

  • Looks like the LEO apologists are out in force. They proclaim a cop can do know wrong even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Thankfully the internet has become a very important tool for exposing these LEO thugs.

  • Thanks you all for an entertaining read! I reserve my opinion on the whole situation, but you all seem to enjoy ranting about it...very enjoyable!

  • If the grandaughter is awaiting bail, why is she permitted to walk around freely outside? And who is the officer that has his hand on her butt? What is the real reason the cash bail money was denied?

  • I believe that it was the daughter in law awaiting bail...the grand daughter came along to explain her grandfather's behavior....Bless her heart

  • This has become hilarious since the posting started yesterday. It is apparent that a handful of law abiding citizens that respect law enforcement and appreciate all that they do are wasting their time arguing with individuals that have axes to grind with the jail or Mr. Mason. No one will relent from their positions as they shouldn't. I have to realize that if someday I decide to break the law and go to jail that I too would have the same negative views as the masses on this site.

  • I agree LawAbider100 it has gone over the top. A no win cause... They don't even know how to argue intelligently. Sorry but by watching your posts I don't believe that you would.... I am going to try and stay away from this so if you do you are on your own! Nice to see that there is someone supporting my thoughts, and they are mine. I am not a co-worker or relative of Mason's!! Just someone seeing what is right. God Bless All of you.....

  • You're right lawabider. The masses have spoken and they will speak LOUDLY in the next election. Both were at fault. Mr. Walters should have kept his cool and Mr. Mason shouldn't have provoked the situation. A professional de-escalates / diffuses. Use the surveillance cameras to monitor Walter's departure. No need to let your ego get involved. You keep labeling us as former inmates - o contraire! I wish I could reveal my identity, but I know how people get blackballed in McKean county.

  • it wasnt the granddaughter awaiting bail you ppl need to get your facts straight before you start running your mouths in which u have no clue wat ur talkin about

  • LawAbider100 There you go calling people names again - "streetscum" When you do this, your statements lose crediblity b/c you too sound ignorant. Now you've presented an argument worth hearing - maintain dignity my friend.

  • Age is not important? If an 8 yr old calls his teacher a SOB, does that give the teacher have the right to push the 8 yr old. No, the teacher is the professional. Last I checked Watson was charged w/ punching Mason. The video shows Watson getting pushed! Clearly both men were emotional and Brad used his badge to settle the score!!

  • rsaithakilla: just remember that when you say something to someone that they dont like and they attack you ... that you also had it cumin to you...

  • The old man had it comin to him.

  • EVERYONE REMEMBER__THE POLIcE are our guards now, not our servants (if they ever were).

  • Sheriff Mason conducted himself in a manner consistent with being a DICK. Give a badge and a gun to a dick and the result is people who do what this sheriff did to this small old man. Where is the surveillance video from inside the building? I bet it shows more rotten behavior by Sheriff Dick.

  • bipolarkaren1980,

You evidently had a bad experience in the jail as many streetscum do. However, you should be thankful to have done your time and returned to society for us all to support you. However, you are entitlted to your views.

  • LOL! LawAbider, you evidently suck Mason's dick at night since you come to his defense every time. You and BOPHack created YouTube accounts only yesterday in order to try to excuse Mason's shitty behavior. He seems to be Mason and you're who - MRS. Mason?

And OF COURSE anybody who dislikes Mason's disgusting conduct MUST be a convict! No REAL American would mind being treated as Mr. Watson was treated. We ALL want the cops to be brutes and thugs.

What does Mason weigh - 350 lbs? More?

    LOL!!!

  • No one said that anyone who dislikes the sheriffs behavior is a convict, people are expressing their opinions which is the purpose here. I have read 2 comments of yours one has the word "Dick" and the other "Penis" What is it you do for a living Miss Karen?

  • To clarify: I've never worked for the Sheriff's Dept, I never plan to and I don't know anyone who does, including the Sheriff. However, I don't appreciate when the public bashes law enforcement based on limited information from the media or from other people. If the Sheriff was legally wrong, then he needs to be investigated and held accountable. If not, speak with your vote. Walk for a minute in the shoes of law enforcement before you rush to judgment.

  • Read todays Newspaper and this is more layed out. This Vet tried to bail out a family member that was in jail with cash and that is not a common practice.Looks like the Sheiff department has a long history with this family so knowing all of that and looking at this video I would say this guy deserved to get arrested and he did plead guilty so enough said.If he was innocent then why plead guilty?

  • You're a cop, though. Citizens are referred to as "the public" and cops as "law enforcement". You're a cop and you're taking Mason's side because of it.

There isn't LIMITED information here. The video tape is perfectly clear. Watson was leaving PEACEFULLY when Mason chased after him and started a verbal battle with him. Mason approached a much smaller and much older man and got in the old guy's face.

Unprofessional. Inflammatory. Wrong. Mason was simply creating an excuse and that's evident.

  • MrBojo31/BopHack1 & woodnic,

Thank you for some intelligent feedback and your support of those that keep society civil. I am also done with this and will use my vote to speak for me in the future. Let the discontents rule this site from this point on. Thank you Mr. Mason and all your people for your service to our County, it is greatly appreciated!

  • Mason's "service to our country"??? You FAIL to recognize the FACT that it is Mr. Watson who served this nation during WWII. Being a sheriff in PA isn't "service to our country" - that's called being a taxi driver for the state's convicts.

And Mason's conduct in this video clip certainly isn't the kind of "service" that this country needs. He's being a brute, a clod, and a thug. He started a brawl with a man who was leaving the facility PEACEFULLY. How shameful...

  • LawAbider, you keep saying he was only charged with disorderly conduct and pleaded guilty to it. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and harassment. The harassment charge was for the supposed punch in the chest, which later changed to a head butt, that is now changed to he "thought" he was going to get head butted. Where did the harassment (subjecting another to physical contact) come from? They only charge you with that when you hit someone.

  • We can disagree all day long. A civil suit will not go anywhere. He was handcuffed and escorted back into the jail. He clearly was not beaten. Simply having physical limitations that cause pain while being handcuffed do not constitute abuse. Sheriff Mason, love him or hate him, did not commit any offense toward Mr. Watson and will not be removed, sued or reprimanded in any way.

  • Yes he did commit an offense. He assaulted him by shoving him like he did. Excess Force! You're going to have a huge plate of crow to eat once a civil suit is brought about.

  • lester not mason

  • The irony of all of this is the fact that the very video that everyone is reacting to is actually what will vindicate Mr. Mason. It clearly shows Mr. Watson resisting the entire time and even as he is being escorted into the jail you can see him shouting and resisting being escorted. And watch the Grandaughter with her arms crossed and calm all for except one point where she is concerned for his arm being put to his back. Not exactly like she is watching an assault take place. End of story.

  • i don't know the man mason. i don't love or hate him. old people have limitations as you say. and thats why you don't us that kind of force with them

  • LawAbider - This will be my last post if you would please answer my questions. WHY was he arrested for "punching Sherrif Mason?" WHEN did he punch him? WHY did the story chang? You have to admit, that looks sketchy, unprofessional, and like someone was trying to embelish the crime IF the punch never took place.

  • wesleymouch,

You make good points to which I cannot answer. Mr. Mason will have to. However, it does not change wgat we see on the video with the resisting arrest or him getting directly in the Sheriff's face which escalated this incident. If he simply stated his concern and went to get a money order this would of never happened. However, he wanted to use a profanity and conduct himself as a mere child. I do agree with you that the embelishments by Sheriff Mason were unprofessional.

  • Seems to me that Mr. Watson was on his way to his car - PEACEFULLY - when ol' Sheriff Penis decided to follow him outside the building and verbally confront the man - starting this entire mess with whatever inflammatory words he used on the old guy. This was the cop's turf. He's SUPPOSED to be the "responsible" person and he is CLEARLY the one who started all of this by chasing after the old man and starting a verbal altercation which he obviously escalated with his choice of words. Shameful.

  • Mr watson plead guilty to disorderly conduct because he admits that he screamed and called them son of b***.. but for whatever reason Mr Mason can scream, strike a person and use unnecessary force and not be charged.. hopefully someone who has the authority to do so will file charges against Mr Mason after they view the video.

  • They were totally looking to take that old guy out. He was going to his car and that cop went after him. I read the article about this, the cop said he felt "threatened" by the 87 year old, looks like he went looking for trouble to me. Police abuse their authority all the time.

  • Hopefully justice will be served against mason. What makes it right for mason to be disorderly. how do you no mason didnt yell first? there were both screaming in eachother faces why was lester arrested and not mason? If i was in a fight with someone i think both of us would get arrested wouldnt we? What makes lester a criminal and mason a victim?

  • LawAbider100: How can anyone defend the Sheriff for coming outside when this man is walking to his car and starting a confrontation? Where did Bradley show any respect? He should of stayed inside and let the man go on his way.

  • thank you once again for all the support to the watson family; apparently everyone defending Mr Mason must be either a member of his family or his dept. i only wish that the commissioners where as objective as most of you when they view the video again and have their "meeting" with the sheriff..

  • I do not see anywhere in this video where mason showed any respect for watson either.

  • LawAbider 100: Watson's intial arrest states a "Smethport man was arrested after he struck McKean County Sheriff Brad Mason. 85 year-old Lester Watson is facing several charges, including resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment, after punching Sheriff Mason in the chest." When did he punch the sherrif? Why has the story changed? This is why you and only 3 other voices are defending Mr. Mason. Both were heated and mishandled the situation and BOTH should be held accountable.

  • To the family of Mr. Watson: I personally will be posting this video to everyone I know, all over the country and outside. Do not back down, who does he think he is to start and treat your family member in this manner.

  • thank you

  • As for the video, Mr. Watson was leaving and Bradley had to come outside to show his authority to cause problems. He wanted to be the big man in charge, How could a law official think he is in the right when he started it outside. Does Mason have any idea what could be going through this 87 year old's mind? No Mason has never served our country! I HOPE THIS REACHES EVERY STATE, CITY AND FORCES AN INVESTIGATION AND MASON REMOVED FROM HIS CURRENT POSITION.

  • This is exactly what McKean County and Bradford City Police have become, they will lie, they will change evidence to fit themselves. To make themselves look good and charge people who are not the one's in the wrong. Poor Brad Mason can not take a little name calling, you would think he would be over that by now. He has been called worst. Brad Mason should be suspended without pay until a full investigation is completed.

  • Why would an 87 year old man (everyone wants to emphasize his age) be going around town disrespecting anyone, whether it be a Sheriff, a bank teller or a cashier. It seems that he is the one that thinks he is above the law and is not capable of treating people with respect. Why is anyone defending him. I can understand family as they will not think objectively. But how can anyone else excuse his childish and rude behavior. He was disorderly and appropriately charged. Justice was served.

  • he didn't disrespect anyone he has the right to speak his mind just like all of you have been doing on here for the past day or so.

  • I agree that Mr. Watson was disorderly and that his anger got the better of him after Mr. Mason followed him outside, but please answer my questions. WHY was part of his initial arrest for "punching Sherrif Mason?" WHEN did he punch him? WHY did the story changed? You have to admit, that looks sketchy and like someone (Mr. Mason) was trying to embelish the crime if the punch never took place.

  • Mr. Watson pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined $100 Wednesday.

  • and i have a ??? when you bail some one out how long is it before you get your money back? and when would the money

($15000) sit in that 15 or 16 months? and why hasn't mr. watson recieved it back yet?why would they still be holding it?

  • what you all dont know is mr.watson has losted a son his neck broke by a cable while he was on a motorcycle. his daughter who was shot by her boyfriend and killed. a son that was shot in the leg by some guys that got away from the cops back in the 80's and there was a big man hunt out for them. and a daughter in law that was killed in a car crash in 93.

  • so when a kid of yours crys out for help you would be upset at 5:00 in the after noon and the banks has closed and your holding your lifesaving in your hand . any one of you would get a little or alot upset and say things you dont really mean to say.

  • This sheriff obviously wanted to provoke Mr. Watson even further by stepping outside of the facility to confront him. Even if Mr. Watson was swearing at everyone inside the place, the sheriff plain and simple should not have gone outside to stir up more trouble. Based on the video... the charges should be dropped against him. The sheriff unnecessarily assaulted Mr. Watson and should have had control over his hurt feelings.

  • You see all the time where the wrong people are put in jail for something they didnt do.

  • No you do not. Many are in jails for hanging with the wrong people and involving themselves in questionable situations. But each and every time it is their own actions that place them in jail.

  • LawAbider100 said: "Follow the rules and you will never experience any negative contact with law enforcement" and "But each and every time it is their own actions that place them in jail. "

    "Never"? "Each and every time"?

Tell that to the 46 people arrested in Tulia Texas, all on the evidence provided by a single Sherrif's department employee...

    who was lying.

  • If Mr. Mason would have stayed in his cage where he belongs, none of this would have happened.

  • if Mr.Watson did something to be arrested in the jail then why didnt they do it, becasue he didnt do anything. You can plainly see Mr. Mason shove Mr. Watson, him being Sheriff gives him the right to shove people? 87 year old people at that.

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah - everyone in this country is a victim now. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions. If Mr. Watson would have acted in a civil and respectful manner in dealing with the Sheriff and his staff inside the jail, this incident wouldn't have occurred. Oh, and poor Mr. Watson should be given a "pass" because he's an 87 year old WW2 vet. Maybe 88 year old WW2 vet James Von Brunn should be given a "pass" for shooting up the Holocaust museum and killing a guard in June.

  • What a disgusting display of abuse of power. This video deserves national coverage to let folks know what kind of terror many in rural communities face from the thugs in 'law enforcement.'

  • elfchimp,

The only terror in rural communities is the thugs that refuse to work, drive drunk, commit crimes and make the taxpayers foot the bill for the losers that fill our jails and refuse to obey the laws of the land. Good people will never be put in jail. Follow the rules and you will never experience any negative contact with law enforcement that make it possible for you and I to sleep safely at night. Your assertion that law enforcers are thugs tells us just what you are. A loser.

  • LawAbider100

To the contrary; I do make sense, and that my dear is why you have now abandon your sensible defense of Mason's actions, only to resort to insults and slanderous judgments. Make sure you know what you speak of when you assume things about these writer's character or backgrounds! As I have. I do make sense and my so-called ramblings are truths; not speculations or assumptions. Something you have come to readily rely on, as you have no facts...just your own incessant chatter.

  • If he has a "need", Sheriff Brad Mason" can take his hate out on me in place of Mr. Watson. This venerable man (Lester Watson) has already given enough! Shame on you Brad Mason!

  • Mason could have at least used the gun he pulled out when he was attacked by watson at least the lester wouldnt have to live the rest of his life in pain.

  • Shame on you Mckean County! A 80 year old veteran walking to his car ! If the 80 year old was in the wrong.. at least he was walking away from a confrontation... The confrontation was initiated by the Mckean county sheriffs. Shame on the county for not discipline this officer.. shame.

  • Clearly Law abider you are close to mason. yes i am close to lester and if you you knew him you would agree he is a good man. The age isnt important there shud be outrage if a 21 year old were treated like that. When it comes to lester taking the plea why was it even offered if the sheriff was viciously assulted by lester. who in there right mind wud go against the sheriff and the county. no one around here has the balls to stand up the system when its wrong.

  • Anyone defending the actions of the police should be embarassed. The Man did not have a gun or weapon and was walking away from the scene. 87 years old recieiving that treatment. Wow what a shame. I hope this gets national attention as any LAWBIDING citizen will be outraged when they see this. If the sheriff needs some action send him to Philly, NYC, East LA, Chicago, Kingston Jamaica. He did not deserve this treatment. In another 10 seconds the man would have been in his car.

  • MrGobills1,

Your username says it all, however, explain why his age has anything to do with this. Whether he walked away or not is not the point. He was simply charged with disorderly conduct which occurred inside the jail. Mr. Mason simply wanted to know what his concern was, which is not out of the ordinary. Once confronted, he is the one who aggressively gets in the Sheriff's face. You can't act like an ass and then simply get in your car and face no consequences.

  • You simply embarass yourself and the department I am assuming you work for. I am also guessing you are probably on company time. You can explain all you want and the video speaks for itself. The Sheriff Got Right in the Mans Face and it was apparent the man was upset. Just exactly what threat was he to you. Again, if you want action go to a bigger city. By the way you dont need to use foul language you show your maturity level when you do.

  • PS: Your not seriously sticking with that what does his age have to do with it bit are you.

  • What does it have to do with it? Should a 27 year old not be afforded the same rights as a 87 year old man? Does his age alone give him the right to direspect others? Explain this. Explain why hid grandaughter does not appear to act as if he is being mistreated in any way. Do you suppose she stayed in the jail well after her grandfather left because she was apologizing for his behavior or was embarrassed? Watch the video again and pay attention to her. Doesn't seem too upset.

  • I watched it several times. His grandaughter does try to intervene but was directed away by the officers. You keep trying to defend this officer who made a mistake. The man was upset and he got right in his face. He was WALKING AWAY. What exact threat was he. What would have happend if they would have ignored him. You would have been saved a great deal of negative publicity.

  • By the way does the man have a long record of assaulting police officers? The punishment here definately does not fit the crime.

  • no he don't

  • MrGobills1,

Are you for real! Punishment does not fit the crime. He paid $100 court costs and was released. He served no time and was not assessed a fine. Is that even punishment? If he did have a long record of assaults, he would of been placed in jail and sent to trial most likely. He did not have a criminal past and was charged with merely a summary offense and released. No one can argue that he should of simply been free to go without any question. Actions have consequences.

  • she was very upset; do you think maybe the other deputies kept her inside well after he left because they knew what Mr Mason was up to when he went out side??? you can see the CO pull her away when she tried to help her granfather. she is still very upset and doesnt like to speak about what happen to him that day... so view the video once again LawAbider100 ...

  • has the insaid video been put on here yet?

  • No, they aren't going to release that unless there is a warrant for it. They know it'll show Mason's side is a lie. He says that he never spoke with watson at all until he was outside of the jail. Watson said that mason confirmed the jail wouldn't take cash and he called mason a son of a bitch. The inside surveillance footage will show Mason LIED

  • daw162/myshellyamore/wesleymouch,

Calm down! Put a chew in, sip on your beer and wait for the mailman to deliver your check. Be glad you are currently not in the jail. However, you may want to check with your p.o. before calling the Sheriff names. myshellyamore, do you ever make a statement that makes any sense? You ramble on and yet never make any sense. wesleymouch, was the jail 100% compliant and now it does not meet standards? tell us where that documentation is. It does not exist.

  • Is Lawbiders real name Barney Fife. You cant be serious in defending the actions of anyone involved in putting a beating on someone over 70 plus that is not banishing a weapon. You should be embarrased for whomever the PROFESSIONAL was that lost their temper at an ELDERLY person WALKING AWAY from the scene. Any LAWBIDING citizen (including myself) would be outraged after watching this video. No Sound Needed. The actions speak for themselves. If the hothead wants more action send him to NYC

  • Why would he insist or even except such antequated believes and procedures? Come out of the dark ages...it's really not that threatening out here in the modern world...you will adapt!

  • What a worthless asshole that guy is.

Saw a story in the paper today where the sheriff says that despite the video, the fact that the old guy pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct charges shows he was "right" and the old guy was wrong.

  • The law come out and provoked him, i agree with statements that all have made, especially whoever said things need looked into in this county, they do need looked into, who said trumped up charges?..whoever it was probably got railroaded like a few others in their county

  • Didn't he revert the listing status of the facility from "prison" to "jail" & take on both roles as warden AND sheriff? If I'm not mistaken these 2 instances make McKean 1 of the 2 counties in the ENTIRE Commonwealth listed as such. Why would one want to regress in status or retreat back to the way "things were". What is wrong with progressional development within the facility's labeling and mangament titles/positions? It's okay to move forward and take on the latest standard of operation.

  • i agree myshellyamore. Take note: Mr. Mason has a high school education; an Act 120 certification and a mediocre career as a police officer. Yet, he's pulling in 80K a year......making him one of the highest paid Sheriff's in the entire state of PA. He doesn't have a bachelors or masters in criminal justice or any form of higher education, so naturally he doesn't understand that we're no longer living in the dark ages.

  • TheLarry9,

You have yet to explain why the age of an offender should mean anything. The video clearly shows that this was not a frail little old man. Why would he use any profanities in the jail, especially around his Granddaughter? He wasn't acting to much like a loving old man that day. The law is for everyone, not just for young people. You appear to know him personally and cannot look at this objectively. However, if you were to meet Mr. Mason you would agree he is a good man.

  • Still waiting for response from LawAbider100: How has Sheriff Mason made "tremendous improvements" at the jail? He inherited a jail that was 100% compliant with every state regulation. Mr. Mason has yet to recieve this mark after state inspections.

  • LawAbider100. I agree with you on one thing. Age, gender, race, sex, family, career, etc should not be discriminated when enforcing the law. Question: Why is it common practice for law enforcement to not ticket each other when they pull each other over in civilian clothes. Where's the equality? // Still waiting for a repsponse about "tremendous improvements" at the jail. This is your chance for some positive public relations. Clearly you work there.

  • Everyone knows that in McKean County your last name and who you are related to means everything. If you have the right last name you can get anywhere or get away with anything.

  • Exactly, and if your noone you get the shaft.

  • Freethinker814,

It is clear from your comments that you would be an authority on the compliance level at the jail. How would you know? That is apparent. You appear to have also had run ins with Mr. Mason for purposes other than obeying the law. Why would you feel he is a "pompous ass"? Have you been arrested? Not hired for a position there? I would bet it is one of those two, however, we will never know. And counting a Cousin as nepotism in a small town such as Smethport is a joke.

  • Someone commented that he won't get re-elected, but sadly he will. It doesn't matter how much you disagree with the "good ole" boys network in McKean County, you can't get past the pull which some have over our county govt. Time to get more involved in the politcs of this county folks!! Start by being elected as a county committee person in your party in your voting precint. 1 man/1 woman for Dems, not sure if same for Repub's. Elections are Spring 2010 check w/voter reg. ofc for info

  • I dont feel justice was served when an 87 year old man was treated to rough by people who are suppose to serve and protect and no ive never been in trouble with the law or even had a speeding ticket. Mr. Watson himself has never had a speeding ticket and has never been down to the jail to bail someone out or he would have known they dont take cash. MR. Watson was there to bail out his daughter-in-law, that doesnt make him a bad person. Mr. Mason took it somewhere it shouldnt have gone.

  • We don't call him "Bad Brad" for nothing!! He's a pompous ass. And yes, the current commissioners statement was ridiculous. Such a "politically correct" statement for her to make after she succeeded in getting "her boy" back in as sheriff. And the compliances at the jail "gone to hell in a handbasket!!" OMG, don't get me started.

  • It is shameful we have people in these positions that are hired solely by their last name, family tree, or who their grandmother's cousin-twice-removed was related to. It would be more reasonable to assume ppl would be hired for their professionalism, skill, education, training, knowledge, prior experience, and competancy.

  • MsSweston,

Pretty ironic how anyone that obeys the law and works for a living are members of the "good ole boy" system. You apparently had a "bad departure" from your department if you ever really were in law enforcement which does not appear to be the case. However, if you were you know that your assertion that a Sheriff or Deputies would be anything but applauded for this arrest is simply foolish. However unfortunate this situation was, it was handled appropriately.

  • And yes, the Good Ole Boy network is very complex here! Did you know that Mr. Mason and Rick Austin are cousins? How convenient. There are many associations amongst the management and white-collar staff at the jail; which is called NEPOTISM. And at most professional county, state, and federal facilities/institutions; this is forbidden. Here it is common practice; if not even expected.

  • LawAbider100

I have not had a run-in with the law at any point in my life. I'm a law abiding citizen, always have been, and raised my children to be as well. My opinion does differ from yours, however that does not warrent you grouping us with those who have had legal problems. I don't feel justice was served, but that doesn't make me now or will it ever make me a criminal or an individual with criminal mentality. I have the guts to disagree with you; but I've never been in trouble

  • It is obvious LawAbider must be part of the good ole boy team. I am a retired Sheriff's Deputy and if this would have happened in our County, the Sheriff would have been removed and the Deputies would have been fired. What a piece of work your commissioner must be, I love her comment that she has seen brad pay respect "at the fair". Wow!!

  • It is interesting why you would plead guilty to anything that you did not do. Believe what you want. Mr. Watson went there for trouble since he knew "from past visits" that you could not pay with cash. Civil suit will go no where and Mr. Mason will remain and win re-election as our Sheriff. Deal with it. The majority of these post are from people that have run ins with the law. Law abiding people feel that justice was served. Thank you Brad!

  • no i NEVER been INCARCERATED EVER MR.BOJO31

  • after reading mr mason comments today posted on "bradforderaonline" it is easy to see that he is only trying to cover his butt.. his story changes repeatally.. Mr Watson has spoken to several out the area attorneys and will be filin a civil suit. and to the commissioners: please review the video clearly you will see that Mr watson was attempting to leave when prompted by Mr Mason to return..

  • A lot of ppl are stating Watson was verbally agresssive, yes. But he was leaving and within; let's say 6-8 feet of his vehicle when he turned and began speaking/shouting (unsure as there is no sound). Was he provoked into that turn about? Was his facing the jail and saying something/anything in retaliation to something Brad said? Was he turning around "venting" to an empty and non-provoking forum? I believe this would have de-esculated if Brad had chosen not to engage in a verbal conflict.

  • If Mason was unsure of Mr. Watsons intentions, why did he follow him outside? If Mason would have let him leave this would have never happened.

  • Mr. Watson is a harmless, senior citizen who wouldn't hurt anyone. Timothy Williams was just a harmless kid out partying, joy-riding, having fun. Hmmmm??? Steve Jerman didn't know what Williams' intentions were, nor did Sheriff Mason know what Mr. Watson's intentions were. Mason was sound in his decisions and tactics. If Mr. Watson is such a victim, why did he plead guilty?

  • MrBojo31,

I would agree to the fullest this display of irrational and unstable rants made by kohlerlove does demonstrate his ignorance, However, it is quite judgemental to assume he has been incarcerated. Even educated, articulate and intelligent ppl break the laws and are convicted of crimes. And ppl with little or no cooth and those with no restraint of their display of personal opinion are not always criminals. Simplistics, maybe...not always criminals!

  • myshellyamore,

My intention was not to be judgemental and I agree with your points. However this site's purpose is to express your opinions and that is all that I was doing. However, YouTube"s policy clearly states that you should not post anything on the site that you would not say to the person's face. I wonder if that is the case with kohlerlove? Maybe this person is not a criminal, but I would bet there has been some type of run in with the law and that is just my opinion.(With no vulgarity)
