  • I use a 60d and I was looking at the 17-50 mm range lenses at f/2.8. I'm leaning towards the tamron but many people say that the sigma and canon are much better. Which would you choose?

  • Dom, does the sigma equivalent 24-70 f2.8 HSM stands better than this lens? The sigma equivalent cost more. I want to know your thoughts about it. And if you can do a comparison test, it would be great. Thanks Dom! More power!

  • Definitely enjoy the 17-50 version of this lens. I can get landscapes AND portraits.

  • Dom, I'm pretty sure that the discoloration at f/2.8 you are referring to in your review is caused by vignetting. If you check lab specs for this lens it has a very significant problem with vignetting when fully open reaching even up to 4EV. since the areas of discoloration you are referring to are in the corners I'm pretty confident this is the cause of the problem. Did you have a chance to test this lens on both full frame and ASP-C to compare the results for vignetting?

  • @Dom thank you for your advise, I happy that you made this review, it help me a lot.

  • Yes it will AF on the D3100. I just tested out on the D5100 and it work. Both the d3100 n the 5100 do not have the motor in the body. I rented this len and try it out for the holiday. Great lens for the money. Just purchase mine use for $275.

  • does it auto focus on d3100 ?

  • @ispyispyispy i think there is a new version of this lens which will work but otherwise as it needs a focus motor my version would not work on a d3100 best give it a try out in a shop first before buying

  • @ispyispyispy look for "IF" sign. mine does have internal focus motor built in.

  • Hi Dom, Just want to ask your opinion about this lens, is it performed well on a non full frame body? Thanks!

  • @carnation1911 it performs very well, i have used it for so many shoots. just check out all the shoots on my channel.

  • my tamron 28-75 takes 5+ secs to focus in a room with light as yours and misses focus most of the time. this lens really sucks its a waste of money for me.

  • dom which one to get 28-75 or the 70-200 tamron for all purpose lens ???

  • @pmmj the 70-200 really is not an all purpose lens.

  • At 8:50 you talk about a colour change; look at the Lightroom WB. It's just been shot at different Auto WB settings which accounts for the majority of the changes.

  • Hi Dom

Can you use the lens for indoor sports, like boxing.?

I just bought the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 ex DG macro but it has serious front focus problems, so im gonna return it. So im looking for some thing else.

Would you recommend the tamron or have you something else in mind.

    I have a canon 500D.

  • @denmyos For sports I can only recommend a longer zoom range. I shoot Nikon so i can't be specific but I would say somewhere from 55-300mm.

  • am on a tight budget thinking of buying the one or the TOKINA f2.8 AT-X 28-70, what do you recommend ?

  • hey dom! does it have hunting/focusing problems in low light?

  • @DruBlast as does all lenses but that is more to do with the camera sensor than the lens. as this is not an afs or hsm it is just normal motor driven

  • @Dombowerphoto how about the motorized version of this? any ideas? this is a great lens. razor sharp

  • Dom -- I love youre keyboard ... what kind is it

  • @sasktank it is the apple wireless keyboard i think it works for pc as well

  • The good thing about this lens and lightroom is that lightroom has the lens calibration profile built in to correct deficiencies. I don't think Dom used the profile in his review? I think the profile would solve any aberations.

  • I have the canon version which I use on a 5d mk II. Very pleased, excellent bokeh, sharpness. Doesn't focus quite as fast as my canon lens, but is enough for sure. My main walk around lens. Highly recommended.

  • HEY DOM!!,

really important question that i need answered asap!!! please!!!

i recently upgraded from a d60 - d7000, i purchased this tamron lens (28-75) and it just came in tonight, i put it on my d7000 turned on the AF and nothing....

i will say that i am in low light, but not dark, it is constantly searching for a focal point, put it on my d60 it was slow to focus but captured the shot? what is going on!?! i cant have a lens that wont AF in low light, what should i do??? SOMEONE MESSAGE ME!

  • Hey Dom, I am buying the Canon T3i body and I was wondering which lens to but for it. I want to know which of the following lenses for basic photography including landscapes, children's sports, and family pics.

    1) Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens

    2) Canon EF-S 18-135 mm lens

    3) Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD VC Aspherical

I am hoping to find the best walk around camera lens so I don't have to switch out lenses constantly as the situation changes.

  • is this a good lens for wedding? thank you

  • Hey Dom do you think this lens will go well with the Nikon D7000, I am planning to buy the nikon d7000 and I am on a tight budget.

  • @eapradius yes it is a very good choice

  • Very nice review dude! Quick question: Tamron 24-75mm or Sigma 17-70mm??

  • this will work on the d90 right? just wondering

  • Much better than the 18-105?

  • @heuykiller f2.8

  • @Dombowerphoto would u change nikon 35mm f1.8 for that lens ?

  • Thanks a lot for the awesome review..

is there any difference between Canon version or Nikon?

  • @Fa9ooly323 the nikon had an older version which had the aperture ring the canon never had the aperture ring

  • Dedication hahahha. You lost freaking lots of weight. Lookin' good. You're traps are looking big as hell. Haha.

  • @UnderTheAttic thanks man

  • Looked at this glass but decided to go for the 24-70 Nikon, which I must point out is bloody well made..

  • @RedWine2go very true. this is the budget version

  • @RedWine2go I $uppo$e it i$

  • Great video Dom! Loving the new merch too, very funny! Looking good too!

  • keep up the good work on the work out!! I can definitely see an improvement!

  • That T-shirt looks pretty tight around the arms. Have you been working out, Dom? =)

    Great review, as always ;-)

  • @N4gr3b 10 points towards a tshirt for you too!

  • Great review. Not a bad lens for $500.

Everyone click the ads to help put some coins in doms pocket . His videos are really helpful. don't be a scrooge, give back.

  • god damn dom its only been six months since you went back to lifting and lookin good! great review bwt....

  • @EishinRyu keep giving comments like that and ill send you a point and destory tshirt!

  • When you half-press the shutter with the lens cap on it's pretty fast - mine takes 2.5 times longer for it to travel from one end to the other. Is it my camera, 7D that's slow or could my lens be faulty?

  • @Olphus The Canon version does have a built in motor ? I know the Nikon version does.

  • wooow!!. the smoothness of the lens was terrible :/ but seems like a good lens to get..

    thanks for the review Dom.!!

  • I must ask, because I've noticed this in the last couple of videos, Why have you got the brand/model taped out on that camera? It looks like a fuji s5 pro or D200?

  • Nice review mate, I ended up going with Jareds recommendation of a Sigma 17-50mm, but this certainly looks like a nice option. Well done.
