the ae86 handles well because it's underpowered, thats the whole point of the car, thats why it's famous.

Frillar I hear what your saying, I'd agree. Useable power and balance are somewhat of an abstract concept to most self professed tuners. I think it's something most people don't understand in fact, you look at an F430 for example and think why don't they just make it have 600hp (you know they can) , then it would be way faster than any Lambo, but that would upset the entire balance and design of the car. It's not about the figures, it's really about the whole concept integration in my mind.

If anything, the AE86 will teach you how to drive properly. It's such a small car that you can feel everything you do wrong and everything you do right. That's probably why you felt it was shitty. You were driving it wrong.
When learning to drift, the 86, Mitsubishi Starion TSi 87 and the 240Z are all good platforms. Why? Small, light weight, and you're close to the rear axle.

Like many people have said, AE86 was both Levin (fixed headlight) and Trueno (flip lights). As was AE85. The AE85's have the single cam engine, and the AE86's have the dual cam engine. AE85 came as Levin and Trueno, and AE86 came as Levin and Trueno. There were AE85 coupes and hatches, and there were AE86 coupes and hatches.

no ur wrong. the difference is a 4age enigne and a 3au. and t50 gbox and k50 gbox and t series diff and s series... body wise there the same.. both 85 and 86 came as a trueno(pop up lights) and levin (normal lights) and they didnt improve it.. they made them both as a sr (basic) version and a gt (sports) version
This is facelift AE86, they have a plastic centre panel that the liscence plate bolts to and extra piece for the reverse lights, preface dont have this extra plastic piece for the liscence plate or reverse.
The AE86 is the higher level of both the Levin AND Trueno...regardless if it's Coupe or Hatchback. over here it's the GTS model. The AE85 is the SOHC and rear drum brake SR5 version.
The Levin and Trueno were both AE86s, it was just that Toyota had two divisions releasing the same car. The Levin was the fixed headlights while the Trueno had the pop-up headlights. I don't understand what you mean by AE86 being the higher level, it IS the AE86.

people don't realize this, but the rear lights are slightly different on AE86's and AE85's.

This is facelift AE86, they have a plastic centre panel that the liscence plate bolts to and extra piece for the reverse lights, preface dont have this extra plastic piece for the liscence plate or reverse.

The AE86 is the higher level of both the Levin AND Trueno...regardless if it's Coupe or Hatchback. over here it's the GTS model. The AE85 is the SOHC and rear drum brake SR5 version.

The Levin and Trueno were both AE86s, it was just that Toyota had two divisions releasing the same car. The Levin was the fixed headlights while the Trueno had the pop-up headlights. I don't understand what you mean by AE86 being the higher level, it IS the AE86.

lol? ae86 comes in 2 versions. trueno = flipping lights, levin = stationary lights

That seemed like a decent amount, but NOOOO WAY it made 380.. With that weight those tires would have made a hellova cloud before launching.
Honestly it looked like 180-200, which isn't bad for an ae86.
