The 9800GT is a better card than the GTS450, especially in GTX form. This is because the 9800GT has a 256-bit memory bus while the GTS450 has a only a 128-bit bus, and bus width makes a huge difference to card performance. The narrower bus can bottleneck data transfer between the GPU core and RAM. As an example, a card with a 256-bit bus and 512mb of DDR3 RAM is in some cases faster than a card with a 128-bit bus and 1GB of DDR5 RAM.

hi i think i have a cooling issue with my XFX 9800 black ed card. from starT up it runs @ 60 degrees(according to eva precision tool) - pc specs- win7 64/ 3g ram/ asus m2n vista ed MB/ AMD athlon dual core 5200. it boots up ok, runs ok BUT locks up on any game i put on eg SF4.  any advice?

CAN be used in SLI with GTS 250, though this is the faster card, so you will need to OC the 250, or put this in the second slot.

And yes, the GTS 250 is basically a 9800 GTX+ on a different board. Hence the ability to SLI them. Either way they are fairly good cards, and can run even new games to date.

DUde dont get me wrong, Before my current system, i have owned and built strictly AMD/ATI based systems. My older system is an AMD Athlon FX-53 with an ATI X850XT. Right there is over 1500 bucks in hardware just between the cpu and gpu so i know AMD/ATI is more than capable of building next gen hardware. There newest 5870 card is incredible. I have the M3N-HT deluxe, and i run 2 EVGA 9800GT AKIMBO 1GB edition in 2-way SLi, the M3n-HT deluse isnt really a 3 GPU Motherboard, more of a 2 GPU mobo, reason being the positioning of the PCI prote. kinda really awkward for 3 way sli, and ive seen 2 GTX280's in it. basically anything will work thats Nvidia, because it has a Nvidia chipset so it wont do dual ATi cards in Crossfire.

I'm running basically the same system except that I have vista ultimate. DDR3 video ram is completely separate from the ram on your motherboard therefor you can run this card no problem.

Gpu and system memory are completely different. The Gpu goes into a pci express slot,while system memory goes in the dimm slot. It does not matter what your system memory is. So if you have a pci express slot this will work

I have this card along with a Phenom X4 9950BE and 4GB of RAM @1066MHz. I run everything@1680x1050 on a 22 inch monitor.

It CAN run GTA4 with pretty much everything maxed out EXCEPT the textures since it needs more VRAM for it's massive world.

However, games like Crysis: Warhead can be maxed out, as well as Lost Planet: Colonies.

I really don't have any other games that CAN'T be fully maxed out except for GTA4, but it's negligible since most of the added texture is lost at that resolution.

No it should work really well. 2GB is enough ram for like every game and a quad core q6600 will run it perfect. With this card, you shouldn't get any lag at all. I'm running on a 9800gt, really good card.

But, no company has been able to use all 8 processors in the PS3. Looking at the standard of ps3 games today, they are already pretty good. Just imagine what the future holds...
