  • This is why I support Obama and his immediate Federalized welfare dependency plan designed to support the mass unemployed US population.

Without rollout of the President's new 50k wealth redistribution tax initiative, the haves get more and the mass unemployable population winds up with less than ever before.

I agree with Obama in pushing for new tax mandates on anyone who earns $50k or more in gross pre-tax income, it seems like the only way to decrease our nation's growing 3rd world poverty...

  • I have news for you! even if you are looking for work in something you think is beneath you, you still better come across that you are enthusiastic and really want the work. Employers really pick up the luke-warm attitude.

  • Unemployment is a serious issue today. The causes won't be changed overnight. Recently, after being unemployed for over five months myself I developed a system to basically pull myself up by my bootstraps to address the new realities and give you an edge in job hunting. I'm offering the book for free if you would like to check it out. It's titled "GET A GREAT JOB FAST!" and you can get it through my website link on my channel (where I also have a movie to describe the book. Good luck.

  • I cannot remain optimistic here in Portland any more things are so bad. The REAL unemployment rate here is 55% or more. I have been lied to about work and sent on interviews to non-existant jobs. I have a 5 year degree in Accounting and do not do drugs or booze. I have had my resume re-written and can get nothing. I have to use a walker due to a car wreck that was not my falt and can't get SS after 13 years of fighting it and lost for the 5th time. Things are bad and cannot be happy anymore.

  • @PamelaRP sorry to hear that. I am unemployed as well. I am considering the military. If you are younger than 42, you could that too. Its something.

  • What do you expect? You take pride in being called a "US Consumer." Well, where are the producers?! If you are all consumers, then there is no way to support real jobs that produce things of value. Look, as long as you take pride in being a "consumer" there will be no decent jobs.

  • This spanish lady is hooooooottttttt I want to bang her

  • yeah this woman is stupid and I also don't feel sorry for her. wtf is she doing owning 2 houses and she doesn't even live in them? so many homeless people and this idiot with 2 houses not in use.

p.s. it's true, education doesn't always mean you'll get a job. college is 50% beneficial and 50% useless. I know a lot of people who never spent one hour in college and they have 30K jobs. Then I know people who graduated from college and don't even have a 1K job.

  • So how's that Hope and Change thing workin' out for ya?

  • If even more jobs move offshore and the economy gets worse you need to look on the bright side, you can still sleep in your import car.

  • All I can say is, if you live in Michigan, especially Flint or Detroit, unless you are in nursing, or something medical related, you can forget it. Those cities are done, jobs won't be coming back there.

  • I cannot remain optimistic because MSI closed here in Portland after being here since 1988 for lower wages in Arkansas. Deep down I know I won't be able to get a job in a call center even with a 4 year college degree in Accounting. I know two people who have masters degrees who cannot find a job. You can go to lots of workshops that I have done and still do not have work. I want to work for many firms but the jobs just are not there. I do not know what I am going to do because there are no jobs.

  • I can't see it getting any worst than it already is.

  • Um, they're staggering now.....

  • By the end of this summer Americans will be staggering in the streets.

  • Recession is good thing.

Gives all you smug people a slap in the face of reality!

So all of you can whine, moan/groan,

Woe is me as is the habit when someone doesn't get what they want.

What I've doing is watching you all do the aforementioned.

    Enjoying the show....

  • GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY!

  • Make the corporations work for you!

    I can show you how!

  • **F*ck a job..I fired my Boss**

I fired my boss and now I make 30K a week mailing cheap little postcards from home. **WARNING looking at my channel you will lose sleep** and maybe(based on your willpower) in 60 days you can say

    **F*ck a job..I fired my Boss**

  • @drakesuccesful

    u r full of it

go talk to someone who willlisten

  • I guess Zacarias Moussaoui was right when he said that America would be destroyed militarily and ECONOMICALLY!

  • You mentioned that you have two house. Why don't you try selling one or both of them and moving into a cheap apartment?

  • your a fucking immigrant

  • They took our fucking jobs!

  • @xmakemebad35

who exactly is "they"...last time I checked those in charge gave the jobs away to the lowest bidder...(ie: CHINA/INDIA)

  • GIS is a great skill to have, but this woman is why I was able to scratch studying GIS in a one year program off my list of possibilities

  • The rich bankers and elitists who leveraged our polticians to get the trade agreements and policies in place that led to the depression (the Republicans and Bush Jr have to take their blame as well for doubling the deficit in a mere 8 years while mismanaging the economy) were rewarded with a LOT of bailout money. The ones who suffer from all this are the unemployed and the sick unemployed.

  • Since only 31 % of Americans claimed to be Republicans on a stat just released with only 23 % Dems. We real Americans, the NEW Independants class make up the other 46%. We ARE the working class for if you do not sweat for a living you DO NOT work for a living. As a HANDS ON degreed enigineer I worked right along side everyone not the a/c spoiled brat enigineers comming out of school now !

  • Since the rebublicans say protectioism is BAD then let them pay extra taxes into the local, state a federal to make up the losses in ta revenue. Wait until they get mugged by a starving guy who who worked hard all his life just to be laid off after his job was sent to China ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • Republicans already pay 17% more income tax then the democrats .Pick yourself up,dust yourself off and stop looking to the government to solve all your problems.I have lost a job before, but have never collected an unemployment check. Not one time in my life have i even been a drain on my country,if you have then you should be ashamed,

  • I have never collected a government check except for my military service in the Marines. I am a REAL American not a hypocrate Republican. I AM INDEPENDANT. When America ships all of the manufacturing jobs overseas there will be no real goods jobs here. No country can prosper without hard goods manufacturing. And no high tech crap will not bail us out since other countries like India are 50 years ahead of us. I saved most of my money so I will be fine for at least 50 years.

  • REGreenTeam, make that 25 years. The government takes half of your retirement money if you use it before age 59 1/2.

  • you're a douche

  • The only problem is those making the money know how to protect it. The starving guy will never get the chance to see the man who stole his money and his life except on the tv

  • Honestly and without any bias, a BA in business and an MBA in public administration and speaking Spanish amounts to nothing for an employer. These are not real skills.

  • i'm suspicious that the government is actually taking our work from us. why the hell out source?!why do that?! if you take the services that we provide and send the task to someone completely out of our range, that means that job has been taken. so what was there plan for how to employ us. there is definitely a plan. thing is we don't know the plan. they are leaving us to fend for our selves while asking for more money from us at the same time,

    ridiculous!

  • You are right Danboone.-

Employers and companies have been trying to find a way to disintergrate the middle class. they resented paying those pensions, benefits and huge salaries. They also wanted to disband the labor unions. Thats why they made sure Bush was their front man to achieve their goals and the public was too stupid to see it. What is left is what you said . The money in too few hands

  • Unemployment is the new shell game. By constantly keeping a segment of the population unemployed or underemployed (plus flooding the country with illegal labor) we ensure that labor costs are kept lower.

Since prices are not going down, that means the money is going into the hands of fewer people.

  • Additionally, corporations promise "careers" working for them. In exchange for a lower salary, employees are duped into trying to make 25 or 30 years with a company in order to draw a pension. Layoffs send many of them packing after 5 to 10 years; only a handful ever make it to retire. Pension funds are raided by slimey Wall Street types, companies "outsource" their labor and the poor hard working employee gets dumped on his ear.

  • Go to Africa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This women owns two houses that she doesn't even live in. boo-fucking-hoo. I don't feel sorry for her at all. What about the people who are HOMELESS yet this lady owns a house that is "empty" according to her. Whatever.

  • i agree with you. i have never owned a house. i drove the same cheap car for nearly 10 years after high school. i went to university for 5 years and i have never had a ful-time job with benefits that requires a college degree. i am barely subsisting off of $1500 a month. i am sick of these whiners crying about losing their homes. at least they had enough money to buy a home in the first place!!! my landlady just bought a house and she rents all the rooms so we can pay for HER house.

  • is this not considered whining as well?

She owns 2 houses, those are called investments. If I wanted to put my money towards houses and rent them out I would too. You are getting no value making payments on rent compared to making payments on a house. Your landlady is smart.

  • whining is crying about illegitamate problems. only those with money can afford to buy houses, then rent them out so that they don't have to pay while the rest of us do. bernie madoff was smart too. he also knew how to steal other people's hard earned money and put them in 'investments'.

  • If you make $100,000 dollars a year and invest and suddenly lose your job, you can't maintain that lifestyle that you worked to get. They are just on a larger scale of money, but still have the same problems. You just have to put it in perspective. Same problems but they make more and so they have more to lose.

I don't know why you mentioned bernie madoff. her investments sound pretty legit to me.

  • 'If you make $100,000 dollars a year and invest and suddenly lose your job, you can't maintain that lifestyle that you worked to get.' LOL definitely coming from someone who has never known a day of hard work. so making $100,000 justifies outrageous overspending to the point where you live paycheck to paycheck, then you deserve sympathy for your 'problems'?? LMAO! you think they have the SAME problems? i can tell you've never been without money.

  • "outrageous spending?" Who said anything about that? She was INVESTING idiot. Not outrageous spending.

    Also,

You don't understand standards of living. Greater income means better standard of living, and luxurious spending because you can afford to. Learn basic economics then come talk to me.

  • i suppose you think all hard-working americans and unemployed are a bunch of whiners too? all those people living in tent cities, lining up for job fairs, getting food stamps for the first time in their lives, collecting unemployment...they must be whiners right? i hope you're the next one without a job. maybe then you'll notice all the stuff you didn't need to buy with your $100,000 salary.

  • you are creating a lot of philosophical errors in reasoning, it's hard to debate with you because of them.

  • @myxomata what about the people who had homes and they were also empty, they didn't live in them, and they rented them out, and now can't make payments on them, and have no place to live, and are now homeless. this woman could one day be homeless, even if she has 2 houses. she could be homeless in the future.

  • @myxomata if you think about it, a lot of people are going to be homeless in the future. multi-millionnaires, billionnaries, middle class, poor, etc. and maybe you may not feel sorry for them, but when its you and you need something, who is going to show compassion to you? since you obviously don't show compassion for anybody else? think about you. eventually things will get so bad economically there will be no middle class. no middle class. people will be fighting for jobs and resources left.

  • @prettylyricsmarie nice try, but I've already been homeless in the past and I know what it's like when no one shows compassion for you. They are precisely people like the woman in this video. If her house was empty and no one would rent it, why not let homeless people stay there? It is a moral crime to allow a house to go empty because you want the profit from it when there are people sleeping on the streets because they can't get work.

  • @myxomata well a lot of immoral things happen in life, especially in a capitalistic or fascist system of government...morals are on the decline from film, tv, movies, music, etc. its just a decline of this civilization....you are so right, to say a person should open their home to make it a shelter for homelessness, great idea...I wonder why she doesn't...hmm...maybe make her home a government run agency, since she now sees the struggles of unemployment...sorry to hear about you being homeless

  • Go back to Mexico!

  • Same here i was unemployed since august and it's been hell out there for the first few months. Watching everyone else around me hasn't had it easier either. This is a very good vid letting everyone know how it really is out there.

  • great vid. i wish i could make one. been loking for work for seven months now in portland oregon ex military no criminal record. fast food wouldn't even take me. i'll be homless by the end of this month i am 24 years old. I'll see if i can make it if not i think i will be killing myself.

  • never give up man. you can always get a job teaching english in china - they will take almost anyone who speaks english even without a degree. oregon has the highest unemployment rate in the country now at 12.1% we are the worst state in america. i went to university for 5 years - i have a BA and MA degree and i have never made more than $12/hour. right now i am barely surviving on $1500 a month. i have worked hard all my life. this country is ruined. i will have to go back to teaching overseas

  • Could you tell me a bit more about your experience with teaching ebglish in China.I have seen advertisements but is it as easy as it seems. How much do you pay for there classes, can you get help wiyh room accomodations.I just was laid off fortune 500 co,after 15 tears and I am middle aged.I would love to teavel. Thanks very much for any time you can respond to this e-mail

  • check out dave's esl cafe website for everything you need to know about teaching in china. the wages are pitiful - average of 500 u.s. dollars per month. korea and japan pay much more but it is more strict in finding employment. china doesn't care who you are as long as you can speak english. hope that helps.

  • Be careful XavierDDD. Their are a lot of reports about failure to pay, dismal conditions, etc... coming out of China for foreign English workers.

  • i've been looking for a job for nearly 2 years now, got a degree in health information technology and it's totally useless... never ever go for THAT degree if anyone ever thinks of that! plus being 56 i'm sol!!

  • Even us college kids are finding themselves out of work, my friend's work study got cut so she cant work at the library anymore, and the university isnt really hiring people like they used to. I thank god I still have my job.

  • I'm a GIS Analyst too. I'm scared as well.

  • My husband was laid off out of the blue last Aug., and he has had ZERO luck finding ANY sort of work. His unemployment will soon run out, and I don't know what in the world we are going to do. He has always been a very hard and dependable worker. When he applies for a job a thousand other men are also trying to get that same job, so finding one right now is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I am in Ga.

  • you're not alone and I'm in Ca; land of opportunity; in the gold country!

  • It's called the new world order. Google it! There are no jobs anywhere. My husband is an electrician. 3 years ago we made a six figure income. We made 8,000 last year. The bank is auctioning our home in February of 2009. A house full of furniture, 3 cats and two depressed adults with nowhere to go. The bank is also trying to take the car too. Thanks new world order! Will never take your chip! RFID!!! Would rather live in the woods!

  • to bad most woodland areas are gov. owned and will not let you do that. i know all to well about the new world order and the "american elite" because us as a nation are to afraid to revolt they have already won.

  • 22 and 12 guages don't have much effect on f-16s. We're fucked

  • If these people are delusional they can get help from thier Dr. My friend is she gets medication and money for her disability. IF they are not they can go back to college and get more loans ect.. They could work on campus. Anything helps.

  • The reality of the economy is that it's going to get worse -- much worse than it is now. So, feeling "optimistic" about the economy is an exercise in delusional thought processes.

  • I hope it doesn't get worse. There are over 11 million people out of work. This is devastating. I have a good job for now, but this can happen to me too. People are losing their houses all around me. Every other house on the block is empty. This is scary.

  • Yes, it is scary. And looking ahead it looks even scarier. But I'm happy to hear, that at least for now, that you're relatively secure. Save as much as you can, prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. Peace.

  • I wish I could save. I am living to the penny and it sucks. But I will do whatever I have to, to make it work for me. Even if that means getting two minimum wage jobs and taking in a room mate. I just feel so bad for all the people out there who aren't as lucky.

  • Even in the most darkest of nights there is always glimmers of hope, keep looking Mrs. Haasler and soon you will find that job.

  • All the bullshit that companies and the Government are doing not only hurting Americans, but it is hurting people globally because selfish and greedy bastards in the corporate world and in the Government want to suck up all the money and to put people out of work!

  • Maybe 12/21/12 is believable afterall!! LoL

  • Are you talking about that Nibiru planet and the end of the world?

  • i like BBC, al jazeera and AP...

  • Check out " RT " - " Russia Today " Channel. Good source of news.

  • Thanks, i just subscribe to the channel

  • I love AP's frequent and wide range of news articles. Thanks AP!

  • According to the numbers we ahve 7.5% unemployed and 13% under employed folks that have an education but work at part time employment like walmart or fast food to keep their head out of water and we are not done yet more layoffs to come soon. Can you believe it BUSH did exactly what Kerry said he would that is have the highest fuel prices in history just like his daddy did in his administration. Now that they have all your money what do you think they will do with it? FINISH THE GAME?

  • LOL so what I have 2 homes as well , so what ? If You have the money you might as well live your life, after all you only live once ;)

  • agreed.

    one house is for living.

the other house is for investment hoping to sell it when housing prices go up. that is call speculating. damn speculator. that is why the home mortgage collapse. i'm glad to see home prices go down so the rest of us can afford it.

  • That's the truth. The fact that home prices are going down is only a good thing. I feel bad for people who need to sell right now, but in the longrun it's good. Of course, the Gov't wants to prop up the inflated housing market, but that's another story.

  • You want greedy? Meet some of the multi-millionaires; they have luxuries far beyond what would even be reasonable.

Two houses are barely anything compared to what luxuries corrupt CEOs have.

  • owning more than one house is not greed if you can afford it...its called having options.

  • I was laid off in 1999. It really sucked but you just have to keep trying!
