If this probe were being sent out today the same music would be picked. The reason the music that was chosen, was because it had already shown it's ablity to stand the test of time. Does anybody here think that in a hundred or a thousand years our decendents are going to give a rats ass who Del the Funkee Homosexual was? I'm betting there will still be plenty of fans of Bach and Mozart though.

I absolutely love Blind Willie Johnson, as well as Stravinsky, Bach, and Chuck Berry; I also appreciate them for some similar and some very different reason; but that's the point of the music on voyager, it was diverse. Hip-hop is amazing, not Lil' Wayne, 50 Cent, Gucci Mane, Eminem and all that Jazz, but Common, Guru, Gangstarr, Blu, Myka 9, Freestyle Fellowship, Aceyalone, Del the Funkee Homosapien, there's serious talent and soul here.
