@ewatchmandotcom You are half-right there. It does, however, say "and the Word became flesh" (Jn. 1:14), which is exactly saying "and the word 'incarnated'", since "incarnation" means to become or to put on flesh. The tetragammaton (YHWH) could go into debate as long as man seeks to devour it.When Moses asked: The God of your forfathers has sent me to you,'and they say to me What is his name?At this God said to moses:"I SHALL PROVE TO BE WHAT I SHALL PROVE TO BE." Hebrew.,('Eh-Yeh' Asher' 'Eh.Yeh'). "Eh.Yeh' rendered comes from the heb. ha.yah, meaning "become;prove to be.Compare with Gen:2,4 Heb;(YHWH,here the vowel-pointed as Yehwah').Tetragrammaton Defines Jehovah as the purposer.
Very well done, music and (Hubble) images, and yes, his name is Jehovah (Yahweh)...majestic, awesome...who has the right to also introduce himself to us as "WONDERFUL". Will the day come when we will get to know just how much ? Yes, I believe so, and, given the conditions on earth right now, the sooner the better.
@jesseZR. I don't recall bring even bringing LORD up, and certain never suggested it was a name. My original post was about the name Jehovah in relation to the more correct name Yahweh. Yahweh itself may not be correct, as the debate goes on about that pesky second vowel. However, the name Jehovah is the result of a series of mistranslations that led to its use in the popular 1611 AV, which today's JWs use mainly out of tradition. So while Jehovah isn't exactly wrong, it is less correct.
THe bible verses given declare there is no greater NAME than the precious name of Jesus ! So why does God magnify His Word above His name? It's simply because God is only as good as His Word. If God’s Word is unreliable, then God’s name is unreliable. If God’s name is unreliable, then God is unreliable. God Almighty has many names, but none higher than “Jesus” which is the ONLY
NAME which brings salvation (Acts 4:10-12), the Name which is ABOVE EVERY other name.
@derektrophy When the angel Gabriel told Mary you will give birth to a son and you shall call him "Jesus'',which in hebrew is Yeshua meaning Yehowah is salvation. This was phrophisized in the old testament when Jehovah said he would send forth a son who will bear his name and will shepered the people of Isreal and will do away with the blood sacrifice
Gabriel's words to Mary are recorded by Luke1:26-32, but consider also Matthew's a/c of an un-named angel to Joseph in Matt 1:23-25 saying "..they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US".then Joseph in v25 "..he called his name JESUS". The O/T prophesy being Isaiah 9v6. Jesus is God in the flesh (John1v14;Phil 2:5-11) Jesus is the name above every name; and in Acts 4:10-12 it is JESUS name that gives Salvation..no other name -not Jehovah; no organisation either
“The Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet.3:9) Bible says that every person who dies without their name written in the book of life will suffer endless torment in Hell,“into the fire that never shall be quenched”(Mark 9:43).JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY THAT WE CAN BE SAVED (John 14:6, Acts 4:12) & there name added to the book of life is by placing their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior & Lord (Rev. 21:27).

@SulkingApostatesSon Do you always listen to and obey your dad? If you do you will be the first. My earthly father used to tell me there was no Jehovah too. Then one night Jehovah tapped me on the shoulder and winked at me from a far away star. I still love my dad though.
Are you a Jehovahs Witness that goes to the Kingdom Hall? Or are you separated from them with similar beliefs? I asked this on your website but didn't get an answer to that question.
its ridiculous to think he calls all the stars by name, even when they are continuously dying and forming in these vast gas clouds, set in such fine artistic motion, of course though im not saying its ridiculous because its impossible, but rather because one can barley begin to even comprehend the vastness of dynamic energy and knowledge that sums up the almighty, Jehovah.
A timely wonderful reminder of just how small we are in comparison to the maker of the heavens. Yet he is concerned with even a small worthless bird that falls into death. And is more concerned about us and how we listen to those like Bob King, I mean Robert, (sorry hehehe jab jab), that try to teach us the truth about Jehovah.
Whether the Hebrew god exists or not, it is known the the Divine name was lost over time. The generally accepted opinion by most scholars is that the name was either "Yahweh" or "Yahwah." No one is sure which.
However, there is no doubt that "Jehovah" is wrong, being made up by a Catholic priest in the middle ages, based on incorrect translation. This error was then passed on to the KJV in 1611, the ASV in 1901, and then to the Watchtower organization.
surely though with Gods name being translated into other languages it still boils down to the same thing? if i hear the name Jehovah, i think of the almighty God.
Well, after nearly five centuries of repeating the less correct "Jehovah," I can understand how many millions today can identify with it. However, that does not take away from the fact that "Yahweh" is the more correct way of saying the Divine Name. Even the original translators of the New World Translation agree that "Yahweh" is probably the more correct way.
Finally, being popular does not make it right. If doing the most popular thing is what counted, all Christians would be Roman Catholics!
Jehovah is the correct English pronunciation. Lots of English Bibles use the word Jehovah. I assume your name is David, a Hebrew name. Do you use the Hebrew pronunciation? I doubt it.
Very few people today would agree with Jehovah being correct.
"While inclining to view the pronunciation 'Yaw•weh' as the more correct way, we have retained the form 'Jehovah' because of people's familiarity with it since the 14 century." -- New World Bible Translation Committee, February 8, 1950, New York, N.Y.
My name is David, and it is based on a Hebrew name, which is also David. But even if it weren't, and I visited Israel, I'd still expect people to call me David, as that's my name.
All proper names that all spelled with a "Y" in Hebrew are spelled with a "J" in English. So, the spelling of JEHOVAH is in keeping with a commonly accepted practice.
Also, common sense dictates that YHWH was originally spoken with 3 syllables, not 2, as in Yah-weh. That is evident from the numerous Hebrew names derived from YHWH. Ex. JEHOram, JEHOash, JEHOsaphat, etc.
So, if you really want to be a Hebrew purest, by all means call him Ye-ho-wah. I don't mind. I doubt Jehovah does either.
So you are saying that the people who translated the Jehovah's Witnesses' New World Translation were lacking in common sense, because they AGREE that Yahweh is more correct that Jehovah??
Is there any other area regarding the New World Translation were you think the translators from the Watchtower organization were lacking in common sense?
But then... maybe you think you know more than they do about such things.
As for me, I just read what the translators say, and the makers of the RSV, NIV, NASV, NRSV, ESV, NAV, NEV, REB, and Jerusalem Bibles all agree with the NWT on this point -- Yahweh is more correct. And in the other modern translations, either Jehovah is replaced with Yahweh, or follow the Hebrew tradition of not using it at all, instead opting for the word LORD instead.
@davidbpearson2 LORD is not a name but a symbol. If you want too get too know him personally you must use his name as accurate as you can, It's just like me knowing some one my whole life but not knowing there name, So that means you don't know them personally? Jehovah is god almighty Not Jesus remember that even Jesus made that clear.
Yahweh is in keeping with the Hebrew. We are communicating in English. I think the NWT guys were just making a concession, a poor concession mind you, but a concession nonetheless.
I really think you need to read the 1969 KIT, the 1973 AID book, and the 1988 INSIGHT book on this issue, as well as the entire Watchtower book "Let Your Name Be Sanctified" (1961). The position of the Watchtower is made quite clear in these books: Jehovah is a name the Catholics created by mistranslating the Hebrew. The Catholics should have asked a Rabbi instead of winging it on the own.
As for communicating in English, how is Jehovah less foreign sounding than Yahweh? Why not say it right?
Thanks for the recommendation. But I've already read all that stuff.
Like I said, you can call him Ye-ho-wah or Yahweh, if you prefer. I am sure he will accept your praise, provided you are true. Why get hung up on the correct pronunciation?
My video was premised on the 7th century-old usage of Jehovah. If you have a slightly different pronunciation, go for it...Praise Jah, or Hallelujah, right?
I hope you are not one of the venomous creatures who have been persuaded into believing that
I don't actually think it really matters if you say Jehovah, Yahweh, or LORD. The WT seems to teach that it does matter. I infer that you feel it's important too. That said, if you believe using God's personal name is important then I'd think you'd want to get it right (or as right as you can under the circumstance). You said "I assume your name is David, a Hebrew name. Do you use the Hebrew pronunciation? I doubt it."
Well, this sounds like you are making davidbperason2's point for him.
@Catch22here All ewatchmandotcom was saying is that the original name of YHWH in Hebrew is properly translated in "English" as Jehovah, just as David's name was something different in Ancient Hebrew. Just like if you visit another country, my name "Grant" would be different in say Spanish . English after all is still in its infancy when it comes to languages, so no, ewatchmandotcom was not making his point for him. Jehovah is the proper universally English translated divine name for our God
@grantknott I don't have a problem with Jehovah just as I don't have a problem with LORD. The point is no one really knows the historical pronunciation. And my understanding is that most scholars believe "Jehovah" to be a late hybrid form derived by combining the Latin letters JHVH with the vowels of Adonai, Adonai wasn't part of the original historical pronunciation. So while Jehovah is a perfectly fine modern English translation it is still a translation just as LORD and Yahweh are. AFAIK
@Catch22here Lord is only a title of Jehovah, just as "The almighty" is. Don't you think if you want to be intimate with God you should call him by his name or close to it anyway (that would be acceptable to him) Jesus isn't the real name of Jesus yet it's been accepted, that's no excuse not to call him "Jesus". Adonai is another word for lord, and yeh Yahweh is fine but universally Jehovah is most widely accepted

@GiveMeAnswers READ philippians 2: 9-10 AGAIN..and tell me who EXALTED JESUS and gave him the name that is above every other name?
10lelegurl 5 months ago
@GiveMeAnswers NOW let me ask you this question...what does it mean to have “faith in the name of the Son of God”?
10lelegurl 5 months ago
@10lelegurl U dont say but I think U R referring to 1Jn3:23 & to 1Jn5:13 where it speicfically says BELIEVE, so then please study the context of: who is talking, whom to, and when ( in this case after Christ's resurrection & assension back to heaven). So to understand the meaning please read the whole of 1John for the answers from God's Holy Word.

Yes, I believe so, and, given the conditions on earth right now, the sooner the better.
wickmanblue 8 months ago
So while Jehovah isn't exactly wrong, it is less correct.
davidbpearson2 1 year ago

This was phrophisized in the old testament when Jehovah said he would send forth a son who will bear his name and will shepered the people of Isreal and will do away with the blood sacrifice
ansermam 5 months ago

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world(Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 2 Cor 4:3-5

"I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast MAGNIFIED THY WORD ABOVE ALL THY NAME.” (Psalm 138:2) God’s Word is more important than God’s name!!!
“Therefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.” (Philippians 2:9,10)

@SulkingApostatesSon Do you always listen to and obey your dad? If you do you will be the first. My earthly father used to tell me there was no Jehovah too. Then one night Jehovah tapped me on the shoulder and winked at me from a far away star. I still love my dad though.

its ridiculous to think he calls all the stars by name, even when they are continuously dying and forming in these vast gas clouds, set in such fine artistic motion, of course though im not saying its ridiculous because its impossible, but rather because one can barley begin to even comprehend the vastness of dynamic energy and knowledge that sums up the almighty, Jehovah.

And is more concerned about us and how we listen to those like Bob King, I mean Robert, (sorry hehehe jab jab), that try to teach us the truth about Jehovah.

Actually... no. Jehovah is not his name.
This error was then passed on to the KJV in 1611, the ASV in 1901, and then to the Watchtower organization.
davidbpearson2 1 year ago
surely though with Gods name being translated into other languages it still boils down to the same thing? if i hear the name Jehovah, i think of the almighty God.
youwhosnameisjehovah 1 year ago
Well, after nearly five centuries of repeating the less correct "Jehovah," I can understand how many millions today can identify with it. However, that does not take away from the fact that "Yahweh" is the more correct way of saying the Divine Name. Even the original translators of the New World Translation agree that "Yahweh" is probably the more correct way.
Finally, being popular does not make it right. If doing the most popular thing is what counted, all Christians would be Roman Catholics!
davidbpearson2 1 year ago
True, appealing to popularity is a logical fallacy.

Jehovah is the correct English pronunciation. Lots of English Bibles use the word Jehovah. I assume your name is David, a Hebrew name. Do you use the Hebrew pronunciation? I doubt it.
ewatchmandotcom 1 year ago
Very few people today would agree with Jehovah being correct.
"While inclining to view the pronunciation 'Yaw•weh' as the more correct way, we have retained the form 'Jehovah' because of people's familiarity with it since the 14 century." -- New World Bible Translation Committee, February 8, 1950, New York, N.Y.
My name is David, and it is based on a Hebrew name, which is also David. But even if it weren't, and I visited Israel, I'd still expect people to call me David, as that's my name.
davidbpearson2 1 year ago
All proper names that all spelled with a "Y" in Hebrew are spelled with a "J" in English. So, the spelling of JEHOVAH is in keeping with a commonly accepted practice.
Also, common sense dictates that YHWH was originally spoken with 3 syllables, not 2, as in Yah-weh. That is evident from the numerous Hebrew names derived from YHWH. Ex. JEHOram, JEHOash, JEHOsaphat, etc.
So, if you really want to be a Hebrew purest, by all means call him Ye-ho-wah. I don't mind. I doubt Jehovah does either.
ewatchmandotcom 1 year ago 3
Hmmm...
But then... maybe you think you know more than they do about such things.
davidbpearson2 1 year ago
As for me, I just read what the translators say, and the makers of the RSV, NIV, NASV, NRSV, ESV, NAV, NEV, REB, and Jerusalem Bibles all agree with the NWT on this point -- Yahweh is more correct. And in the other modern translations, either Jehovah is replaced with Yahweh, or follow the Hebrew tradition of not using it at all, instead opting for the word LORD instead.
davidbpearson2 1 year ago
@davidbpearson2 LORD is not a name but a symbol. If you want too get too know him personally you must use his name as accurate as you can, It's just like me knowing some one my whole life but not knowing there name, So that means you don't know them personally? Jehovah is god almighty Not Jesus remember that even Jesus made that clear.
jesseZR 1 year ago
Yahweh is in keeping with the Hebrew. We are communicating in English. I think the NWT guys were just making a concession, a poor concession mind you, but a concession nonetheless.
ewatchmandotcom 1 year ago
I really think you need to read the 1969 KIT, the 1973 AID book, and the 1988 INSIGHT book on this issue, as well as the entire Watchtower book "Let Your Name Be Sanctified" (1961). The position of the Watchtower is made quite clear in these books: Jehovah is a name the Catholics created by mistranslating the Hebrew. The Catholics should have asked a Rabbi instead of winging it on the own.
As for communicating in English, how is Jehovah less foreign sounding than Yahweh? Why not say it right?
davidbpearson2 1 year ago
Thanks for the recommendation. But I've already read all that stuff.
Like I said, you can call him Ye-ho-wah or Yahweh, if you prefer. I am sure he will accept your praise, provided you are true. Why get hung up on the correct pronunciation?
My video was premised on the 7th century-old usage of Jehovah. If you have a slightly different pronunciation, go for it...Praise Jah, or Hallelujah, right?
I hope you are not one of the venomous creatures who have been persuaded into believing that
ewatchmandotcom 1 year ago
In what year did the catholics create that name?
ShinobiTree 1 year ago
Before the Catholics existed.~
ArtOfDale 1 year ago
I don't actually think it really matters if you say Jehovah, Yahweh, or LORD. The WT seems to teach that it does matter. I infer that you feel it's important too. That said, if you believe using God's personal name is important then I'd think you'd want to get it right (or as right as you can under the circumstance). You said "I assume your name is David, a Hebrew name. Do you use the Hebrew pronunciation? I doubt it."
Well, this sounds like you are making davidbperason2's point for him.
Catch22here 1 year ago
@Catch22here All ewatchmandotcom was saying is that the original name of YHWH in Hebrew is properly translated in "English" as Jehovah, just as David's name was something different in Ancient Hebrew. Just like if you visit another country, my name "Grant" would be different in say Spanish . English after all is still in its infancy when it comes to languages, so no, ewatchmandotcom was not making his point for him. Jehovah is the proper universally English translated divine name for our God
grantknott 1 year ago
@grantknott I don't have a problem with Jehovah just as I don't have a problem with LORD. The point is no one really knows the historical pronunciation. And my understanding is that most scholars believe "Jehovah" to be a late hybrid form derived by combining the Latin letters JHVH with the vowels of Adonai, Adonai wasn't part of the original historical pronunciation. So while Jehovah is a perfectly fine modern English translation it is still a translation just as LORD and Yahweh are. AFAIK
Catch22here 1 year ago
@Catch22here Lord is only a title of Jehovah, just as "The almighty" is. Don't you think if you want to be intimate with God you should call him by his name or close to it anyway (that would be acceptable to him) Jesus isn't the real name of Jesus yet it's been accepted, that's no excuse not to call him "Jesus". Adonai is another word for lord, and yeh Yahweh is fine but universally Jehovah is most widely accepted
grantknott 1 year ago
@grantknott LORD and Jehovah are both acceptable translations to me.
