  • BRAVO!!

  • best fuckin sound a car can ever make

  • That chevelle looks and sounds just like my 66,it is the same color. But I have a 327 with 450hp.

  • thats sounds really good, what size is that exhaust, and mufflers?

  • SEXY CAR

  • bad ass!!

  • Sounds like music to me bro Keep the Big Block Chevy Alive !!!!!

  • looks beasty

  • ???

  • that would look sick with wider tires on the back man. nice chevelle i want one :]

  • Thanks everyone. To tell you the truth the 396 just wasnt cutting it so I now have a 427. Look at my other vids. It is flat out awesome.

  • AHHHHHH man I want that!!!! Wheels, color, power plant, everything is setup just right. Great job man.

  • SWEET!!! What kind of exhaust system are you running????

    Thanks!

  • What do you mean by 396 CI @ idle?

  • Well its a 396 cubic inch engine and the car is idling.

  • @kreuvsisnell It's sad that you had to put it in crayola terms.... Nice car....

  • Well, I was thrown off by the @. Thats what I was trying to figure out. Nice car.

  • @kreuvsisnell He was kinda slow on that one eh lol?! Hey do you think i can run the 60203 on the 454 with 9:5:1 or 9:1 compression n still get the low end grunt since im running a 5speed with a 456 rearend gear!.

  • @kreuvsisnell lol

  • Also doing disc brakes front and rear. Only thing more important than going is stopping!!! lol P.S. What part of Washington do you live in? I bought my four door '66 up in Gold Bar, and when I went to pick it up, I saw another '66 Chevelle on the outskirts of town that looked alot like yours.

  • dam it sounds good.... sharp car

  • what flowmaster series u got on it?

  • No that sounds like a real muscle car should, Good compression...wreaking havoc to a car alarm near you!

  • thats one sick ass car .

  • Somebody can tell me about lunati 60212

    hydraullic roller cam 282/290

it's fine to my 496 street engine 10.5-1 comp.

  • i dont have them yet, u just wondering if they can be used on the 396, ima try to get the crank refurbished, and ill buy some connecting rods andpistons. if i were to get flat tops, thatll amp up my compression with the stock heads right??

  • you need a small dome for closed chamber heads and a larger dome for open chamber heads. If you run flat tops with a closed chamber head say 96ccs your compression would be about 9.08 to 1 if the block has been zero decked with a .039 thick head gasket

  • i have a 396 laying in my garage, and i want to install it into a 69 camaro, or a same year chevelle. and i want to run 3.73's and a th400. and i heard that the crank is good up to 700hp?? i correct me if im wrong but i was wondering if the ls6 heads would fit?? any suggestions?

  • The stock steel crank is a good piece.

I had 702 oval port heads on this motor. They are a closed chamber large oval head with stock size valves and a little bit of port work. I did a bowl blend and worked the short side radius. IIRC the chamber cc was 96CC's What are the casting #s of the Ls6 heads?

  • yeah, i was going to ask you, what size heads do you have???

  • what size exhaust u running?? and whats the compression on your 396???

  • The exhaust was 2 1/2" into flowmaster mufflers exit in stock location. The compression was about 10.5 to 1

  • Very clean look over all , nice car.

    Oh , sounds awesome too.

  • exactly what a Chevy should sound like !!

  • My dad and I are rebuilding a 66 chevelle with a 468 in it...its almost done, Yours sounds bad ass

  • OMG, that is hottness!!! I just bought a '66 Malibu for an unbelievable price, about the same color and everything, but unfortunately it's a 4 door. It's got the stock 283, but it needs rebuilt. Thinking of boring it over to a 301 (aka 302), with some fresh heads, 4 barrel w/ an Edelbrock, and headers. Was going to do a Thumpr cam, but not sure. This is EXACTLY the sound I'm after!!! Any advice? Thanks for sharing!!!

  • The only advice is dont install a cam just for the sound. It needs to be matched to your entire combo from heads, compression, trans and rear gears. If your going for just sound you will be disapointed but if you go with what works with your combo you will have an engine that sounds good and performs even better.

  • Thanx again for the advice!!! I found a good direction to go in, I think. I'm gonna take out the 283 (original engine), rebuild it and save it for someday. For now, I came across a fresh 383 stroker, that I'm having a set of 1.94 heads rebuilt for. For intake, I've got a dual quad tunnel ram, 2- 500 cfm edlbrock carbs, and I'm using a torker II cam shaft will bring the power band down to about 2500-4000 rpm. Transmission is a TH 350 w/ a 2000 stall converter, and a 3.48 posi out back.

  • @wardupyo NAH, do Tri-Power (three 2BBL Carbs. just like Dodge's "6-Pack"), then run 3 Holley 2bbl Carburetors, a 4:11 or 3.73 Limited Slip Rear End (Limited Slip is GM's name for Positraction or Posi). use a Crane Cam (my dad sat next to david Crane of Crane Cams when he was in 3rd Grade, 4th Grade & 5th Grade...

  • @thedeem0N actually chevy called their rear ends with positive traction posi trac, same chrysler with sure-grip, and twin-grip...gm called many different names back in those days...plus posi traction is alot different than limited slip differentials...its the whole point to NOT SLIP, creating a ratcheting effect when turning. so in the mid to late 80's they developed limited slip to limitedly slip a single axle when turning for smooth travel...

a little info for ya, enjoy ur weekend.

  • Crane went out of business a while back but were bought up, the motorcycle line is the only thing being produced though. The best option for cams IMO are the Lunati Voodoo's, or the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy line.

  • fyi crane is back in business and will be making car cams shortly

  • They reopened a while back under a company called S&S making motorcycle and ignition parts, but as of extremely recently crane cams is back in business. Still lookin at a couple weeks out though to get one.

  • Thank you. It depends on what rear gear you are running and what stall converter you have but if its more of a street car then the 60203 is a good choice but if its a bit more radical then the 60204. Also the thumper line is for sound not power. I had one in this motor before the 60204 and I can tell you the 60204 sounds better and performs alot better.

  • im building a 454 and i wuz looking at this cam or the 60205 do you know wich one sounds and performs better

  • Beautiful car, I have listen to both motors...I have a 396 and I am real picky on what I want out of the cam....any suggestions...cause I love the 60204 that u had....I was looking at Comp's Thumpr line, not to sure after your 396 vid though...

  • Its not SMOKE. its freaking 35* out when I took the video. The car wasnt 100% warmed up.

  • What's with the smoke?

  • Its a chevy...they all do that.

Just kidding. That things sounds pretty lively. How does it drive on the street?

  • funny my gas burns black not blue like yours. blue smoke is oil, black smoke is gas, white smoke is antifreeze you know this but i was allerting everyone what their car may do

  • burn a little oil ?

  • thats actually fuel coming out of the exhaust, built motors tend to do that till there at high idle.

  • jajajaja, larga mucho humo!!! esta fundido...jajaja, muerto

  • beautiful car sounds great i got a lunati voodoo cam im my 350 in my 72luv truck

  • yeah beauty sound

  • That's just freakin' beautiful!!!! There's no sound like the sound of American muscle!!!

  • oh wow yeah I say smart move. Nobody likes leaking coolant. Mise well switch over to a 427 like you did!

  • Ahhh nice upi'n the ante to a 427. I'll take a look. Hope the 396 has a nice home. I would have bored the 396 to a 427 save some work and money. But hey now you have a back up motor!

  • The 396 had a sleeve in #5 cyl and it started to leak coolant. The motor went to a friend to see if he can resleeve it.

  • I think i might sneak in your garage one night just to turn your car on. That car sounds soooo good! Voodoo cams rock!

  • Well the 396 is no longer in the car. The car now has a 427. It also has a Lunati cam and sounds even meaner than this. Look at my other vids and you will find it.

  • NOW THAT IS A SEXY SOUNDING CAR

  • 233,241@.050 .554 .572 lift 110LSA

  • Whats the lift and duration on it?

  • that is bad ass

  • what kind of exaustr line do you have with it???????????

  • It has 2 1/2 " into flowmaster

  • Fuckin sick! Love it! 6/5

  • dude your car is orgasmic.this is the true definition of beauty

  • how much more lope and horse power do u think the 60105 would have

  • I just wanted to mention really quick, thanks a lot for using a camera with good enough sound to take this because so many videos have sick cars but the camera cant even record the low decibels.

  • lemans blue, cobalt blue??? other???

  • sweet car and sound!! what size cam is it? and lifts??

  • Has it ever hit the strip?

  • Yes with this 396 and voodoo cam it went a 12.9 @ 107 It has a Tremec 5 speed and 4.56 gears

  • I figured it would be doing 11's or 12's.

I like the blue you have on it.

I also like how you didn't put HUGE rims on it!

  • Its hard to drive a stick at the track. I never speed shift it as I was afraid of missing a gear so I loose a few 10ths

  • My mom had a '67 camaro. 400sb, muncie 4, 4:11 rear end, my dad I guess tried it on the strip, tried to speed shift.....screwed up the whole car.

It was sent to the crusher. It would have been cheaper to buy a new one.

So I don't blame you! It'd be a shame to see a car as nice as yours go to waste.

  • That's when automatics are handy.

  • sounds great whats up with the smoke screen?

  • Its only 35 degrees outside

  • Lunati Voodoo Part Number 60204 hydraulic flat tappet 233 intake 241 exhaust .554 intake .572 exhaust
