Let me show you how "FAST" is "FAST": American International TV "Premiered" "Gamera VS. Monster X" in--if I remember correctly--September 1970, about 5 months after its' Japanese theatrical release. So, we got it FRESH. (needless to say, me and my brothers were in front of the TV on that Saturday afternoon!)
@CosmicFunkOSMOSIS Must be nice. None of our local stations played Gamera movies. And none of our local theaters showed Gamera movies. It wasn't until cable TV came along and USA and TBS started showing them. I've been a fan ever since.
Hey, local TV Station "distribution" worked the same around my way back in the day. We (in DC) didn't get ALL the Gamera movies on time--it depended on the AIP-TV syndication. Case in point: While, in 1970, we were groovin' with "GAMERA VS. MONSTER X" fresh, we didn't get "DESTROY ALL PLANETS" or "ATTACK OF THE MONSTERS" 'til '71 or '72.....
but BALTIMORE and RICHMOND had "DAP" and "AOTM" fresh.
Hell, we're even, because DC never got the STARMAN series at all--'til DVD.
In the end, gamera wins. I watched this before

this is the first kaiju movie to be based around a real event.
Expo '70 was kickass from what I've heard, and I live in Suita, where it was held. Pity there wasnt actually a monster battle.
