The Fender Mustang is indestructible (my main guitar as well) . thats why Jason did not even flinch when his sunburst hit the floor... Fender's Bounce, Gibsons Break!!!
This upload is the reason Youtube was brought into existence. This one batch of uploads alone makes all the other garbage on youtube worth it. This is a pure classic of an album, a timeless masterpiece! Gives me the chills everytime I listen to it.
All things considered, there was some really great music in the 90's. You just had to know where to look. You can have all the Nu Metal and Seattle Grunge crap. I'll take Jellyfish, Matthew Sweet, the Grays, Teenage Fanclub, Velvet Crush, the Posies, XTC, Trashcan Sinatras, Jason Falkner...
@picchaz I agree - they definitely were. But look into Tally Hall and you'll find the current generation's best. Check my profile, I've got all their videos on there -- make a note to check the playlist I have of their newest songs, too.
@55westend :> Well according to the inner sleeve Spilt Milk, .he shared guitar duties with Lyle Workman- who played with Todd Rundgren and also Bourgois Tagg. I have the Grays sleeve right here and Brion is credited for "Same Thing", "Nothing Between Us", "Not Long For This World", and "No One Can Hurt Me". Out of 13 songs. Jason is credited for 5 songs. There are no co-writerships on any of the songs except for "Is It Now Yet" by B.Judge/ D. McCarroll. Each of them writes their own songs.
They don't make them like this anymore ... and if anyone has a recommendation of ANY current band that can remotely compare, please post it here, 'cause I'd like to check them out. I recently read (about The Grays or Jellyfish - Can't remember which) that they composed "inpossibly intricate songs" or something like that -- and it's so true! Never saw them live, but The Grays' CD is a classic to be cherished.
cheers for this. I saw them around this time in Minneapolis and it was wonderful. This video confirms my memory - not only a great record but a fine live show.
@55westend :> Yup I know, but he also shared bass duties with Steven McDonald of Redd Kross! & some other dude. Same with guitars as Andy is credited as well.
Jon sporting the grunge look. Jon looks good here depsite and as an after thought Jason was always surrounded by stellar musicians with a knack and flair for "taste" and beauty amongst other details. The Jellyfish family: Jason Falkner, Jon Brion, Eric Matthews, and Roger Joseph Manning Jr.- birds of a feather flock together.
I have been tearing my hair out trying to get an mp3 of this song ever since I heard it on jon brion's myspace page. I will be your personal slave for life if you can give this to me somehow
When Jon Brion plays a guitar solo he turns into a fucking MADMAN!! I saw him do a gig with Aimee Mann when her first solo record was about to be released, and he did his song "Same Thing" from the Grays and went totally nuts during the guitar solo, whacking his guitar against an amp, and pretty much just beating the shit out of it, and IT SOUNDED GREAT!!He spilled a pitcher of water all over his effects, and I sacrificed a flannel shirt to dry them off so he gave me some beers in return.
Thankfully I just found this playlist . I never had the pleasure of seeing them , but they hae been one of my favorite bans ever and CD. Any where else I could get footage, or other songs, Boy would I be thrilled !!!!
This is pretty much the greatest thing I've ever found on Youtube... this is somewhere between finding the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot... thanks so much!
My favorite album for months now, totally different from SPILT MILK, but maybe even more intense. A wonderful band, and a crying shame they didn't stick around for longer.

I'm hooked on youtube, after finding all my favorite early 90's videos and artists: Teenage Fanclub, Jellyfish, Grays...
Thank God for the good music, so we may discern from the rest of gunk that's out there!!!
