Doesn't sound like 5.1 to me. nothing coming out from rear speakers at all even on HD. Same goes to all other so called 5.1 tube videos. 5.1 is enabled, tested on dvd video with 5.1 sound.
@alyxlyon For starters 5.1 doesnt have rear speakers, it only has side speakers. 7.1 has the rear and the side speakers, the rear speakers being the extra two. I have a 5.1 and a 7.1 speaker system and it is true 5.1 on the 5.1 system with all the speakers making different noises to complete the whole. However on the 7.1 I do not think its true, the rear sounds like it is copying the side which is probably my amplifier doubling the channel, but thats a different story. Either way your wrong.
Please provide proof that they do. According to wikipedia (Google "Youtube Wikipedia"), they claim only 2 channel AAC, VORBIS, or MP3. Nothing is mentioned about TRUE distinct channel 5.1 audio tracks. Those that think this is true 5.1 don't know what they are listening to. They are likely using simulated or Matrix surround system like Dolby Pro Logic II that simulates 5.1 from a 2 channel source.
@thomasangelo3580, You really need to check your facts dude before commenting, Youtube does support 5.1, almost all what i listen to on here goes out in 5.1.. some things don't but this clip did.. You must have a crap setup if you didnt get 5.1 surround :(..
@ferolcat2009 Riiiight. Explain to me exactly how you have your system "setup" and what you are using then, because I have an X-Fi sound card connected to a set of Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers using the "Direct" connections and YouTube aint never come out of all 5 speakers, only the front left/right (including this video). However, all my local h.264 5.1 encodes work just fine.
@AoDIronMask You must have the ability to decode THX Neural surround information, which is embedded in the stereo signal. I run my PC via an optical SPDIF to my NR1601, which decodes Neural surround, and it works extremely well on these videos that have it.
@pulmonq2 Ah, thanks for the info mate. Unfortunately my receiver isn't THX certified and my X-Fi doesn't have a SPDIF either so I can't test this out. Oh well, been meaning to upgrade soon anyway lol.
its rear sound alright, i heard it from my butt

Does anyone know a way to make games which aren´t 5.1 surround be out put by all speakers?
I mean 90% of games don´t support 5.1 surround and its a loss to only always hear sound from the front two speakers!
cheesismrulez 6 months ago
sooo if you had 2 sound cards in your computer both hocked up Would you have like 10.2 surround sound O_o

MrSuaveeito 1 year ago
@thomasangelo3580 Actually it does, in the form of THX Neural surround encoding. Anyone with neural decoding can then get the original 5.1 mix.
pulmonq2 1 year ago
@XPetiePieX It's pseudo surround sound, not 5.1 discreet digital channels.
dtsmucker 1 year ago
@thomasangelo3580 Doesn't matter with my system, it splits the sound into 5.1. quite well in fact.

No 5.1, 7.1, or 10.1 surround sound support on Youtube... the best you get is stereo = 2.0
