donnie! have you heard of the RLSH? real life superheroes? man you should team up wid em, wid or widout a costume, i bet you would be a good man on duty helpin people not just by giving the needy what they need but teach them to defend themselves! :D
Those kicks are so 100% beast. People who don't expect them simply crumble under them because they simply cannot see how a leg kick is going to deliver that much power. I have seen that with a lot of kickboxers that came over to look into Muay Thai. They took a lot from those classes into the ring.
Umm found this tony Jaa video and was wondering if the kick at 3:17 is a driving kick. watch?v=r6I6ynT3bJQ thats the link. let me know what you think. Its a bit high and his leg is straight but it sure does seem like he driving it.
of all the trainers and instructors on the net, i like this guy the most and i love his damn voice along wid his enthusiasm! :D beautiful kicking by the way
@whotookdonnierules Can u help me ? i used to do the round house kick in a very powerful manner , the bag would like go diagonal , it was so powerful , but latley , ive lost power , i kick hard , but not as hard as i used to , i twist my ankle before i hit the bag , swing my arms , throw my hip , what am i possibly doing wrong ?
I want to train under you so bad!!! I train in ring style muay thai but iv'e ALWAYS wanted to learn old school muay thai. Do you know a good place to learn some muay boran here in nor-cal/bay area?
Thanks for the quick reply. I can't really explain why but I keep getting drawn back to your posts. I really love training (7 years) and watching(20yrs) Muay Thai. I have seen a lot of Muay Thai and to me your technique is very nice but the power you seem to generate from your kicks is what keeps me coming back. Anyway, I was interested in the RED heavy bag STAND, not the heavy bag? Where can I get one? Keep up the great work, thanks.
@phatyokozuna I trained under Kru Suaan Nirmalya Bhowmick, co-founder of the USMTA . We bought the heavy bag from a Pakistani reseller out of los angeles, whose name has escaped me right now. I know the price depends upon the wight of the bag, but it's not that bad. It's the logistics that get ya.
@whotookdonnierules - Has this been your only teacher for the muay thai discipline or have there been more. What about any other styles, any training there.
if u kick like that your enemy going to block your legs because is slow and your kick is powerful but the kick u just did is punching, order to get your enemy hurts is kick hard also put back quickly.
Hey Donnie can i ask you something? What type of round kick does Jose Aldo throw? Look him if you don't know but im curious because he kicks very hard. Hes the WEC champion because of his excellent striking skills. Thanks in advance
You're kinda jumpy, you must be all hopped up on muay thai lol. You kick damn hard, that looks very effective in a street encounter, you could probably disable your opponent with one leg kick!
I have seem some mma fighters use this and it is effective. The second kick is what we call in american kick boxing a chop kick. Both are effective but they must be thrown when your opponent is getting tired. I teach this kick to some of my more advanced students and it does work. We keep our hands in front and jab after the kick is delivered. Great stuff
Donnie,I learn a lots from your video.i'm finding some places for me to train or maybe a master could guide me.i'm going australia soon.Do you have any suggestion that which place i could go?it's at melbourne.please reply me at my e-mail if you're free...i rarely comment in youtube, your video is suggested from my friend, thanks for posting and i waitting for your reply if you could help me..thanks...
Donnie, i have been trying to find a heavy bag stand...saw the one in your videos with the A frames on the ends...are you happy with it? where did you get it?
Donnie, I love this move and tried it. I'm supposed to hit with my upper shin, right? But it hurts a lot because I'm not hitting with my bone, but the muscles around it... Does it mean that my shin needs more conditioning or that I am not doing it wrong?
One issue I have with some of the kicking techniques Donnie shows is the "center line" step he teaches. Your kicks, as we are taught, should step and move you off center line. The straight line step he shows will always lose out to a right cross.
Donnie is very good with this Leidrit style. It would work in sport or street but you need to have your shins hardened. Donnie open up a Leidrit school people would join.
MMA guys dont just throw the leg. In regards to you saying you should kick with a bent leg - that's not what they told me in Thailand. The straight leg is for more power and speed and it hurts more. They say "You want to hit with bat or rope?", plus the bent knee acts like a spring, it absorbs the kick. The straight leg is locked and goes through the leg like a bat, the pivot and hip motion is the most important thing in the kick - the leg is the final part in a long equation.
When properly analyzing the analogy of your leg acting like a baseball bat, don't omit the use of the arms to swing the bat. In short, using the bent leg (like your arms and hands holding the bat) to then straighten the leg generates more power.
oh i fiorgot something be aware and take care if you kick the kneee of your oponent and if your shin is not strong u cant gonna flight good anymore and is more than sure that your opponent will destroy u hahaha well apart of this everything of that kick is good
nice low kick haha we use a lot of these at the muay thai sparrins also u can make it in the musles and the midle of the body hursttt like hell see you
How can anyone doubt the leidrit style? You guys are idiots. This isn't boxing or karate, it's Muay Thai. Does karate or boxing allow elbows and knees, no. These kicks are meant for the street and survival not for a sport. Karate never taught anyone how to survive but only discipline. The driving kick is an effect way to stop an opponent and beat them or get away.
It's a mystery to me how you can critisize this technique, when it obviously works. Look how fast and powerful this kick is, not to mention the fact that he is bursting in from far out - in one fluid movement - which will totally catch any opponent off guard. I'm not doubting this for a second.
What I'm wondering is why would you open up the hips with the foot pivoted out when you land before throwing the kick? I can see how yes, that does give the attacking leg more leeway to rotate along the hip, but shouldn't the opening of the hip be used as part of the whole movement and not separated?
Why do you bend your right leg so much when you throw that kick ? No power generated, you must split the kick between a snap and a push, yours is just a push with the upper shin while your leg is bent. Also 1:55, I wouldn't recommend this... if your opponent is good at timing, he'd throw a long cross while you're half way towards him.
@mindtrix00 I partly agree with you, actually mostly I agree with you. The pushing roundhouse can however create a ton of power, on the other senses I couldn't have said it better than yourself.
yeah if ur good at timing that could happen ita a very strong strike its not a jab ull do back and forth its a f painful kick u seek for the moment to aplly the technique
if you pause at the right moment during the kick the motion blur is so bad you can't even see his foot, his shin just disappears in the air. Now that's a fucking fast kick!
your videos are great donnie, the only thing i don't really like is the flower technique. it looks really effective, but getting the element of surprise at that close a range can be difficult when going up against a wannabe brawler who will just swing randomly. in street situations, just sticking with kicking techniques like this might be better. that or some of the climbing techniques like "Hanuman Hern Vae Ha" and "Pra Ram Yeab Long Ga". you should do those if you haven't already bro : P
omg, this is so hard,im a fucking noob,i just barely got into this shit and it is pretty tiring,i only know punching techniques......no kickin...AGH!!KICKING IS SO HARD!!
For Muay-Thai one of the best times to learn technique is when your totally exhausted and you think you cannot continue. If you're diaphragm isn't hurting by the end of class then kick, punch, push harder next time. Switch up your partner to someone who will help push you and tell them to do it. Tell him/her each time you drop your hands or you take to long to strike they should be hitting you hard with no mercy. I "used" to drop my hand I was told 5x not to then I got a hook to the face.
dude i train at a damn MT school, and they have never explained a low kick as well as you just did. I noticed the pad was on the front of the leg instead of the side, mentally are you aiming for the front of the leg with the bent leg low kick? Call me a noob, Im coming from boxing and this shit is still foreign haha.
Hey..well i aint him but i think i can answer that?if you dont mind? The pad is on the front because its a driving low kick rather than just a low kick...the aim is to take ur opponent straight down rather than the usual sweep trip motion....get?P.s..it must really SUCK to be this dude's training partner coz ... damn!!!
Great technique, but I think that you got the "names" mixed up a little. Thais throw the "old-style way," which is keeping the leg straight. The "new-school" is bent, because it came from Netherlands, where their kickboxing had a lot of karate influences.
You have more force to follow through with. The same thing applies when you punch. You have more power when your elbow is slightly bent rather than extended all the way out because the force is building up and when you land it, it has more room to chanel it through. It's kind of like stepping in with your strikes.
