@T3RRABYT3, Cheers! lol. I appreciate the comment. I used to be a very aggressive, puff and blow style player, but I have been heading toward a more subtle and refined style for some time now. This was recorded almost 4 years ago and my playing has changed a lot, esp after playing Dave's flutes for a while.
@elizabeth120519991, Thank you! This was recorded about 4 years ago, and I had just gotten the new flute the other day, so it was definitely not my best playing. I have gotten much more used to this particular flute in that time.
zac, do you have any advice what to go for for more of a low-end flute to start me off? On a fairllly low budget, definitely don't want to spend more than £300 right now.
even after a year,i still come back and enjoy your vids now and then! keep it up!
Many years ago a friend of mine argued that the flute was the best instrument for Irish music. Get rid of the fiddle and the pipes and play real music, he said (as I recall). You support that position, Zac. This was beautiful stuff!
I could totally do that too if I wanted to... I just choose not to. J/K! That was brilliant! Please keep posting your talent, I really enjoy the break from reality when I listen to you!
You are a fantastic player. I really enjoyed your playing. Great rhythm, nice choice on ornamentation. The variation in Tom Ward's downfall is a little too much for me but boy have you got ability on the instrument. Top job!
Aggressive style! Play some war flute music, man! Flutes o' Macabre!

might possibly be up at folklife on the 23rd. I'm hoping to be able to go to the workshop.. can't wait to hear you play again!

that kinda looks like a clarinet turned sideways...
kinda.
Rodier1128 3 years ago
No it doesn't. It's a simple system flute.

I Play Regular It Seems It Has the Same Fingering =] Is That So?
lonelysorrow3m0 3 years ago
Close. The simple system is based around a D scale, the silver flute around C. Also you have open holes vs. closed pads.

I actually stole that variation from Brian Duke of Cian. He pulls it off a little more cleanly than I did, though;)

Nice one Zac - and congrats on the flute. I'm playing a Casey Burns Folk Flute and dreaming of one like that when I have more tunes in me hands!

iamanengine 4 years ago
Oh, lol, I know. I actually don't play the flute at all, I was just kidding around with him, 'cause I know him. :P
