If you look closely you would notice the 3000V DC power cable broke above the motor cart , probably the panto-graph hooked causing it to break. once broken it will feed from both ends ...then its a matter of time before circuit breaker trips.

Do an image search for "Metrorail" and you'll find plenty of examples of those yellow/grey striped trains. The "GETTING YOU TO THE GAME" posters on the carriages refer to the 2010 soccer world cup.

the reason the overcurrent devices seem slow to open is that these circuits are designed to power trains of many thousands of hp and then are designed to allow under normal flow large currents to flow continually so even this shorting out may fail or take a long time for the overcurrent devices to open and stop the current
