The reason that mario changed occupations is because Mario Bros. for the arcade took place in the pipes of New york. The developers thought that a change of occupation was necessary. :)

The Atari 7800 version is actually a port of the NES port of the arcade. The title screen music and DK wiggling around after falling was originally from the NES port. In the arcade version, all you see on the title screen is the flashing title and DK himself, while DK rolls his eyes after falling.
I am still surprised that this game actually exists since by this time, the NES was out and Donkey Kong is a nintendo property... You'd never see this happen today but Donkey Kong on PS3 would be interesting!!
This was a great looking version, I personal had it for the Coleco Vision. However by 1988 the NES had be out for 3 years so I'm sure kids were not interested in the Atari 7800 and if you had one you were probably over your friend's house playing their NES instead.
1988 was only one year before the Sega Genesis came out. In other words, way late to the game was Donkey Kong on the Atari 7800. Nintendo had already had an even better port than this as a very early title on their system in 1985.
The 7800 was a decent system and could have been a lot more than it was if Atari had given it more suport and not thrown all their weight behind their ST computer line. But in 1988 they're JUSTgetting Donkey Kong? That was why the system never had a chance.
It's the early 80's. Mario lost all his money in the stock market, so he's doing every job he can. From carpteter, to demo man, to plumber. Finally, he lands a job as Peach's bodyguard and gets paid well. Even though he's awful at it.
HAHAHA OMFG! thats good! Mario, Poor Italian Immigrant gets a job as a Carpenter. Donkey Kong Runs a Carpentry Supply Store. Mario lands a contract at the Construction sites to build a building. Mario's Contractor Fails to Pay, Donkey Kongs waiting on his money, and Mario's Check Bounced. Donkey Kong gets Pissed, Grabs Mario's Girl and Heads to the Construction site!
Hey, Why did you die when you did the Super Jump on the Elevators screen? The Atari 400, Colecovision, NES version and of course the Arcade version let you survive the super jump as long as you land on that platform in the middle with the short ladder. Heck on the Coloecovision version you can just step down to that platform and not die.

The Atari 7800 version is actually a port of the NES port of the arcade. The title screen music and DK wiggling around after falling was originally from the NES port. In the arcade version, all you see on the title screen is the flashing title and DK himself, while DK rolls his eyes after falling.

I am still surprised that this game actually exists since by this time, the NES was out and Donkey Kong is a nintendo property... You'd never see this happen today but Donkey Kong on PS3 would be interesting!!
The damn Atari sounds here are just painful...

This was a great looking version, I personal had it for the Coleco Vision. However by 1988 the NES had be out for 3 years so I'm sure kids were not interested in the Atari 7800 and if you had one you were probably over your friend's house playing their NES instead.

1988 was only one year before the Sega Genesis came out. In other words, way late to the game was Donkey Kong on the Atari 7800. Nintendo had already had an even better port than this as a very early title on their system in 1985.
The 7800 was a decent system and could have been a lot more than it was if Atari had given it more suport and not thrown all their weight behind their ST computer line. But in 1988 they're JUSTgetting Donkey Kong? That was why the system never had a chance.

It's the early 80's. Mario lost all his money in the stock market, so he's doing every job he can. From carpteter, to demo man, to plumber. Finally, he lands a job as Peach's bodyguard and gets paid well. Even though he's awful at it.

HAHAHA OMFG! thats good! Mario, Poor Italian Immigrant gets a job as a Carpenter. Donkey Kong Runs a Carpentry Supply Store. Mario lands a contract at the Construction sites to build a building. Mario's Contractor Fails to Pay, Donkey Kongs waiting on his money, and Mario's Check Bounced. Donkey Kong gets Pissed, Grabs Mario's Girl and Heads to the Construction site!

Hey, Why did you die when you did the Super Jump on the Elevators screen? The Atari 400, Colecovision, NES version and of course the Arcade version let you survive the super jump as long as you land on that platform in the middle with the short ladder. Heck on the Coloecovision version you can just step down to that platform and not die.

i love the atari 2600 i just bought one to play with my dad because he grew up with it and i have the 2600 donkey kong this one looks way better ....the wii has a game called wrecking crew for the nes that you play as mario and luigi when they were carpenters demolishing buildings.
