No compared to cigarettes the pipe is much better no inhaling into your lungs.

As long as you stay away from Drug Store tobaccos (and some "house blends") which tend to have preservatives and stuff, there shouldn't be much of anything. Pipe tobacco is the highest quality tobacco available specifically it's smoked for the flavor & aroma, not for the nicotine addiction such as cigarettes. The tobacco is cleaner and stronger, so inhaling like with cigarettes will put you on your butt in all likelihood. Some people inhale pipe & cigar smoke but I don't recommend it.

Yes I been trying to stick with matches when I can. The lighter gives off an unpleasant odor some times. But when it is windy it rains supreme a nice lighter indeed. The pipe is for all ages I believe but it is nice to see so many young folks getting into the hobby.
