@miamilo6 John Cowan is on tour with the Doobie Brothers and Chicago. Check that out if you get a chance too. Incredible show. Saw them last night in Houston.
@miamilo6 When you say this Sam Bush guy, makes me think this is your first exposure to him or this band. You have a TON of catching up to do as he has about 4 DECADES of music behind him. That's not a bad thing as it will be a fantastic ride if you dig into his earlier music. As others have said, and I agree, the best group of musicians and performers I've ever seen.
This is one of my favorite NGR tunes. I used to put it on repeat mode when listening to it. Unfortunately, I've never know who the writer was, and what the frame of reference is. To me, it has always had religious implications rather that being a traditional love song (similar to George Harrison's "Something"). Any thoughts on this?
I agree I think it is meant in a spiritual context. Quite a few of their songs were rather spiritual such as Reach, How About You, This Heart of Mine. By the way I just looked up the writers of the song and they are Don Cook and Gary Nicholson.
It's "New" Grass. These guys were an incredibly good blend of some of the greatest musicians to ever jam together. Yes, it's not "purist" Bill Monroe bluegrass, but it is a blending of musical styles that was amazing. This song for instance blends reggae with blugrass. Did your feet tap just a little listening to them? Then you just discovered a very different kind of music that these guys invented.
WOW!!!! Once again, thanks to you "Bluegrass Library" for posting these GREAT quality vidios of one of the "Best groups of all time", inovative arrangements plus emotion shows in all NGR tunes
Hair. Also last couple of times i saw sam live he played this song, usually with a reggae breakdown

Everybody is fussing over what kind of music it is. It's Newgrass. But if you like it, why fuss over it?

Is this supposed to be bluegrass? I like traditional bluegrass, and to be this is not good.

Well its not straight ahead bluegrass by any means but it has bluegrass in the mix and it still sounds good.

New Grass Revival Never claimed the title of a "Bluegrass" band. Take it for what it is, and we all know it's not traditional. This is great music!

I saw them live in 1988, the energy they had was unbelievable, they put everything they had into it, I'll never forget it.
