Wait, amazon parrots are illegal there? I haven't heard of a state banning amazons yet. I know that Quaker parrots are banned in quite a few states. The reason that they ban some parrots is because some people let them go free, and they have an amazing ability to survive in the wild, and they end up multiplying and ruining crops. But that's with Quakers. I have yet to hear about amazons pulling that off.

I actually did some quick research, and amazon parrots aren't illegal in TN. Matter of fact, I didn't find that they were illegal in any state in the country. As I stated in my previous comment, Quaker parrots are the ones most banned in quite a few states. So if you and your wife are interested in amazons, do some homework on care, and enjoy if you get one. :)

I understand why people could think it's fake but if you see when the parrot is laughing you can see it's feathers move slightly by his chest and neck. This is pretty amazing, how in the world did you teach this to your parrot?

Yeah, it really isn't fake. That's him. If someone thinks it's fake, then go check out the other amazons on this site that are laughing, and they're all pretty close to each other. And I actually didn't formally teach him to laugh. He came to me laughing. He loves cartoons and listening to kids laugh. He now even barks like my dog. I have to get that on video soon!

You cant tell the sex by its voice. My parrot can do both myself and my partners voice. Depends who he want a fuss from. Some people say that parrots will only bond with the opposit (sorry cant spell) sex but its not true. A parrot will only bond with the person he or she feels safe with. Some even say its something to do with smell. Who knows lol

I know you can't tell by voice. And I agree with you. Parrots can't tell gender in humans, and they bond to whoever they want. Mine bonded to me. And, I got a DNA test done, and Kiwi is male. :) I had a feeling he was, but it was solely a guess. I guess I'm just lucky that he picked me. :)

The sound of a parrot's voice is not determined by its sex,it depends on who taught it each word. A boy can have a girly voice if he interacts more with or prefers a female owner.

lol the same with my parakeet Flicky . i don't know if flicky is boy or girl. i also read somewhere that sometimes it is difficult distinguish parakeets gender until the age of 1 . so i have to wait 5 month more.
