  • US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrives in Kabul for a visit aimed at encouraging the Afghans to continue reconciliation efforts with the Taliban.

  • Damn man, brings tears to my eyes no matter how hard I try not to. I lost two close friends over there.

  • from australia to canada, thanks for being there with us, we respect you guy's heeps.

  • FInd out what's really happening in Afghanistan and watch the film WAGING PEACE: Canada in Afghanistan....you can order a copy on line....WAGING PEACE: Canada in Afghanistan is the only independent film to be made on the Canadian mission since the war began....really good film.

  • Never heard Amazing Grace when I was attending ramp ceremonies during two rotos in Kandahar....mostly songs I never heard before. I was a lowly civilian but was immensely honoured to stand with my military brothers and sisters in formation.

  • what is the music ?

  • Still another American; great grandson of soldiers, son of a soldier, a retired soldier myself, and the father of another soldier: Thank you, Canadian military, for standing with us in this and past wars.

  • god bless

  • Rest now my brothers, we shall carry the fight forward.

I cannot express in words or deed the respect I have for these coalition soldiers that gave all. To their families, my respect and gratitude.

To those that would use this opportunity to make an idiotic or political statement, shame on you. These men died so that others may live in freedom. If you cannot grasp that concept- YOU don't deserve YOUR freedom.

  • Blessings from America

  • SCOTSDOC, keep your sadsack opinions to yourself...I carried these two Canadian Soldiers to their final flight home...It was a very sad day on my camp.

or better yet, go to a country where you can spout your garbage about the Blood the US and CDN Soldiers shed for someone else's FREEDOM!!!

  • @derekby1 Right on. Honour and respect to you and your brothers in arms.

  • Thanks to the Candian brothers fighting over there. Another brave country giving it their all to stabilise a wartorn country.

    Keep up the good work.

  • My son ( a U.S Air Force Ssgt) just arrived in Kandahar today and I pray he returns safely. A veteran myself, I give thanks to the Canadian military who stand with us against those who would love to take away our freedoms. Thank you Canada!

  • @jam5bryce thank you for supporting us as well most people on here just ague about the Canadian's and American's in Afghanistan and Iraq its horrible.

  • All the best to you and your family Sir. I am Canadian and served in our military. We are brothers in arms. I've met alot of guys in the US Armed Forces and they are great people! We must look out for each other. I would put my life on the line for an American soldier just as soon as one of my own. God bless the USA!

  • I AM A CANADIAN LIVING IN UNITED STATES cANADA LIVE FOR EVER

  • Lest we forget

  • Here is an American who looks northward to our good neighbors, true friends and gallant allies with wonder, respect and thanks. May we be worthy of their sacrifice. God bless Canada.

  • RIP Arnold you'll be forever missed dad wishes he could have said goodbye

  • Lest We Forget

  • I am a Canadian born in Scotland love the pipes but I wish I was hearing them less on the Canadian news for everytime I do it means another brave soul has given their life for my freedom, God Bless every person who serves and RIP those that fall.

  • RESPECT.

  • "Lest We Forget"

  • There are a great many Americans who recognize the sacrifice and support of our allies and neighbors.

We thank these Canadian soldiers who stand shoulder to shoulder with us, God Bless you All.

  • Repatriation Ceremonies are very poingnant, I had the honour to be part of an honour guard on two occassions in the Balkans. I'm an ex Scottish soldier and I stood shoulder to shoulder with my American brothers to honour the fallen and send them home.

  • On behalf of America - thank you to all the Canadian soldiers who have fought and died to maintain peace and freedom. We love you.

    Vive Le Canada!

    God Save the Queen!

  • We Love you Canada, thanks, I am praying for all your boys, like i pray for mine every day he's over there. Thanks again.

  • we mourn with you canada

  • copecowboy, thank you!

  • RIP Stormy

  • ilove canada. god bless.

  • You can be the toughest mofo in the world, but at those ramp ceremonies, you can find a tear in everyone's eyes. I'll always remember my time at Kandahar.

  • My husband a veteran of 10 years in the United States Marine Corp has lost many friends to this war. After 9-11 he was in Pakistan on 9-24. It has nothing to do with not wanting to show America the "truth" of casualty in war it is about peace, respect for the family. It is actually up to the families if they want to share such a somber and personal moment, 99% of them wish to keep it for their family and friends only. We don't need to rub their death all over the news to prove a point.

  • I agree with Macgrad1. Its not that the US doesn't partake in these ceremonies, they definatly do. The difference is that Canada shows the public, shows them that even though men died they aren't being thrown away. The US doesnt and it's high time that changed.

and at the risk of sounding like a religious quack, "God bless the Canadians who lay down their lives along side all the others"

  • Canada doesn't lose to many troops, but it still does have the highest percentage death rate in Afghanistan. we only have 2500 troops and we've lost 87 already.

  • man i remember when i heard about this, I worked under CWO Girouard, a superb example of a soldier indeed. It really hit me hard, and i definately will miss him.

  • this is awesome, even thoguh they are in a war they still have the respect to do this ceremony

  • have everybody name of the melody from this vide to bagpipe??? thanks...

  • its called Amazing Grace

  • Thank you for posting this video. I am a Canadian living in the U.S., and I am proud to see how differently we show respect for our military as a nation. For all their jingoistic rhetoric about freedom, you don't see news coverage like this in the U.S. The politicians (read Bush and his cronies)don't want honest news coverage of military casualties, so we don't see these kinds of personalized ceremonies.

  • you know what some people curt have to make choices to get ahead in life sadly it takes some canadians out of their beloved homeland... it does not make them any less canadian or deserving to respect our fallen soldiers! they need all the respect they get! they are there for our rights man!

  • well your right they do need all the support they can get, and i appologise for the comment , but i am feircly canadian...and i would never leave my country, because i would rather contribute to my country to make it better then to contribute to a foreign country.especially considering then net brain gain all other anglosphere nations have over canada, im assuming your probably a well educated person and all you did was make our country weaker.

  • I was there in KAF.Proud to know some good Canadians soldiers.God bee with you my friends and come back home safely!

  • It's ramp ceremony, not a stage for venom about the pros and cons of the mission given to the soldiers.

Support them and their families unreservedly.

Instead go find a political/politician's site and put the boot in on there if you wish.

Speak not ill of the dead.

  • Yes indeed, workers in uniform do the dirty work.Politicians start wars and end them with the stroke of a pen.Make tea not war comrades.Workers of all lands unite.

  • As a soldier we don't want fight with you about your stand on politics we are there to do a job and help. All we ask is that you respect us and remember the fallen for what they died for that is all we ask.

  • Shut up -stop acting as if soldiers are seperate from the terrorists in the government. What the hell is a govt without it's soldiers and it's people? You are not exempt from anything you have done and the inncocent people you have made suffer on behalf of imperialsits.

  • UN mandated mission? Majority of Afghan's want us to stay there just long enough for their country to run itself? Country actually had elections and emancipation just recently?

    Any of this worth mentioning?

  • have our troops come home

  • it is a shame fight a war that not belong to us the united states goverment can cope with their problems we don't have to solve them

  • (R.I.P) british canadian an american (R.I.P)

proud to be allied by your sides as a british soldier.

    "UNITED WE STAND"

  • thanks for the respect.

  • American soldeiers were recently arreseted for a shooting spree in an Afghan village which left several dead including women and children. The spree followed the death of one of their comrades. Sure respect for a bunch of over fed ass wipes that kill civilians in anger because they can't handle their positions. Why don't you just go spit on the graves of those civilians as you blindly offer "respect".

  • These are Canadian soldiers.

  • HW50

In war there are innocent people killed, especially when fighting in populated areas, where the enemy hides amongst the population. American troops abide by very strict rules of engagemnt to avoid civilian casualties. Of course there are anomolies under the stress of battle. They are punished and serve hard time. Radical Muslims kill innocents for maximum effect as part of their every day strategy around the globe. Yet you want to point out a few exceptions committed by American troops?

  • Hearing those pipes puts a chill in your spine doesnt it? Devastating. All my prayers are there for our troops.

  • SCOTSDOC. You are one of the mpst ignorant person I've ever borne witness to. I add a clip of a fallen soldier in respect of his memory and you come on here repeatedly pushing your political propoganda. Stop. You disrespect our soldiers' great names by using a memorium to push your agenda. I'm not going to attack your position here, as I'd rather debate you in person, all I will say is that your ignorance will no longer be tolerated.

  • @SCOTSDOC

Ils ont les yeux comme dla gélatine et une vieille sur un trône là-bas en Angleterre. On les appelle Angliches, parfois Rostbifs. Ils sont incapables d'accepter les autres cultures, incapable de se mélanger, ils sont des purs!

    Yeault

    Yeault

  • @SCOTSDOC Say that to them on the ramp ceremony, I'de LOVE to see the troops get a smack down on you.

  • I aggree

  • So do I

  • WTF is wrong with you. Thies ppl give there lives yfor you and all you ever do is spam videos about remebering them

I HOPE YOU DIE IN A WAR you haertless soul.

  • Stop with your BS rhetoric moron. They gave their lives for corporate millionaires- not for you or for me. They even made themselves genocidal murderers in the process. Lies don't change facts.

  • Go fuck yourself. If you don't appreciate what we do for you, live somewhere else.

  • Genocidal murderers? Do you even comprehend what you're saying? Genocide? The mass murder of the Afghani people, is that what you're saying?

I don't mind you disagreeing with the NATO/ISAF mission. In fact, I've spend 12 years defending your right to say such moronic things. But accusing any soldier of genocide is an entirely different matter, and I'm sure any (former-)NATO-soldier would LOVE to have a word about that with you.

Referring to genocide just made your entire statement useless.

  • There have been massacres in Afghanistan and Iraq by American troops. Thousands of men can not be accounted for. Americans pay bounty hunters who round up ordinary men- kidnap people out of their own country with no regard for law. Men go missing- no trace no explanation. This is systematic slaughter- Abu Ghraib shows how much value Americans have for life or law- what American savages are capable of

  • Where do you come uo with this propoganda. The vast majority of the killing(around the globe)is committed by radical islamists. They suicide bomb, use IEDs, whatever it takes to kill as many innocent people as they can, even their own. It is not Americans killing the innoceny women and children in Iraq, or Afghanistan. It is Muslims. The same applies in drafur,Thialand, Phillipines,Malaysia, Lebanon....wake up and seek the truth.

  • ahahhahahahah- you actually believe this don't you- american ass wipe

  • HW50

Your ignorance is par for the course for a left-wing wacko. My dad served during WWII, I served during VietNam. We fought communism which subjugated and killed millions of peope. Are there greedy corporations that make money off of war, sure. That doesn't diminish the reason for fighting though. Hitler was worth the fight, as was Japan(that attacked us). Today the fight is with radical Islam which stated goal is our destruction and world domination.

  • no s@#t i totally agree what an asshole

  • hey hey now calm the f#%k down

  • errrrrr you people do know that poppies contain a drug that help fund terrorisim thats why soldiers are destorying them

  • WTF is wrong with you.

  • Dumnezeu sa-i ierte. (a romanian camarad)

  • Canadian troops do not destroy poppy fields!!

  • Dont mind Scotsdoc - his hooby is finding Canadian Forces videos and ranting about poppies and Gold bricks. Everyone needs an obsession I guess.

  • WAR IS HELL....But we MUST stop antagonizing the peasants..."Poor farmers grow poppies because they can't afford to irrigate their fields to grow other crops, such as corn or wheat. Fuel for water-well pumps is too expensive."

"They would like to grow something else," Saifullah said Wednesday(4Ap07) in his compound guarded by Afghan police."

"They have no choice. If they grow something else they are not going to get enough money to live."
