Ok, I have a weird question. One pc which I bought years ago with dual core 2,4 GHz was not capable to run many programs because the cpu usage was high (50-90%). I had no trojans, viruses etc in my harddrive. So I bought a new cpu 3.0 GHz dual core with 6 mb cache, but haven't installed it yet. One dude said that if I installed the new cpu ít wouldn't make my computer run smoother and that the cpu wouldn't do any difference at all. Is he right?
my Acer Aspire 5720Z has a Intel pentium dual-core processor T2310 (1.46GHz, 533MHz,1MB L2 Cache) processor, and i wanna upgrade it, how far can i upgrade it?
hey i have a acer aspire 5100-3577 laptop thats comes with a turion 64 mobile processor. i want to kno fi turion x2 would work and fi so............which fan i should upgrade to?
Turion X2 and 64 are different names for the same processor. There are 2 versions of the these Turion X2 one with Taylor/Trinidad and other with Tyler. I recommend using Tyler since it consumes less electricity and should be cooler. I used the same fan, but I later bought a usb coolpad with three fans to put under the computer.
The Acer 3100 and 5100 series should use the same moderboard as this computer, so I hope you find this useful.
I have an acer aspire 3100, but I really dont know much about why kind of new amd processor it need. Right now it has a "Moble AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ 1.80 GHz" I am looking for an upgrade, but not sure how much something like this would cost, or where to buy it. The speed on this sucks, so I would need a faster one.
I guess the best way to find a cheap cpu is to search for a secondhand cpu on ebay. At least there is where i found mine. You can notice a very significant speed increase. However there are tons of different turion cpus. You should take close notice on the effect (W=watt) they use. If it uses more power, the cpu will go warmer and you might need to change the fan too. This new cpu was 2w higher than my previous and it already gave a 10-15C degrees rise in cpu temp...
I have an acer aspire 3002LCi (pretty old), I want to install a higher powered processor, like the AMD Turion™ 64 X2 dual-core, but im not sure if it is compatible with my laptop. How do I know if it is compatible? Does it have to do with memory or something else?

DONT DO IT.... dont upgrade laptops!!!!!! U will get a massive OVERHEATING problem..... i really mean this......
lollerte 2 years ago
@lollerte maybe because
1. you didn't apply thermal paste
2.you didn't screw everything in properly
3.your fan is faulty
4. your cpu was faulty
or 5. you screwed it up!

if the mainboard supports Turion X2 it fits your computer and at the acer aspire 3000 series DOES support Turion 64.

thx for the info...but what do you suggest, buying a new laptop or updating my acer?
Borican 2 years ago
I have an acer aspire 5520-5912 (same cpu) and the speed SUCKS!!!!
GeeksRus95 2 years ago
Yes, but Sempron 3200 sucks way more. It cost me only about $15 to upgrade a year ago. I bought the cpu from ebay.
