you were no were near incandesing! a in a light bulb the filiment gets so hot that the electrons boil off of the filiment! thats kinda how a vacuum tube works!
Put in side a mason jar, put the jar inside boiling water then put the filiment inside the jar put the lid on with the wires sticking out of it with some hot glue for seal, then stick the bulb in the freezer now you will have a vacuum that will keep the bulb from burning out.
@MissTahr 12V ist to wesk (they cant handle more than a few hundred mA). A car battery wuold be good, but be aware of shorten it (you cbles will burn away..)
Actually, almost all modern incandescent bulbs are filled with argon. It is much cheaper to fill a bulb with argon than to make a thick glass bulb and suck all the air from it.
I would think that if you take a glass jar with a screw on lid (mayonaise)and pop 2 very small holes in the lid. Then tightly force the same two wires thru, then attach the smaller wire to the bigger wires just as you've done here. Then inside the glass jar light a bunch of matches and screw the lid on.The flame will consume the air,the resulting vaccuum will allow no Oxidation of the smaller wire,, resulting in a longer burn. Please do this and message me. I would love to see that theory in action.
i know how to make a light bulb i used a D-cell battery and i had 2 wires and a litle light bulb take one wire but it on 1 side of the D-cell put the other one at the other side and make the wires go up and attach um the the light bulb but one on the silver part and one on the bottom and there you go a home made light bulb
now put the filament in a pile of black powder placed under a bucket, and sit on it while you attach the battery. You won't have to worry about the silly battery exploding anymore.
Correct. You may notice that the two wires are coming out of a jar's lid. We originally had a jar, but found it cumbersome to use and just abandoned it for the cooler (but shoter-lived) open-air experience.
Yea too bad it didn't last long because u need Tungsten to make it burn for a long time.
Tungsten has the highest melting point of all the elements. Also the wire burnt out quickly because of the Oxygen in the air. If you had Tungsten you will need Argon so it doesn't burn out. I learned all of this in Science class!
I agree. However, in small quantities such as that which we used for this lightbulb, tungsten is quite expensive. Lightbulb manufacturers are able to buy massive amounts of the stuff for relatively cheap, but for us normal people, our most cost-efficent option is using steel picture-hanging wire.
you could burn off the oxygen in a jar and then use it!
It will probably light up for a thousand times longer!

Try a tungsten coil instead of a piece of graphite.

U have to have this in a vacuum for it to work cuz with oxygen around it it just burns up

This is my homework where can ı find filament or anythink works like it or can i get it with just breaking a light bulb

take a mechanical pencil lead and burn it with a gas flame.

you do know that shorting the battery out like that can cause it to explode spewing metal fragments and acid all over you right? BE CAREFUL!
mannys9130 3 years ago
Not really, I've shorted out a few, no explosion, just leaks.
Try shorting it out & dropping or placing in a steel barrel. That'll protect you from any explosion, if any.
