maybe there's different ways to do it. and i would personally use tweezers and gently pull it, but this video shows u can carefully squeeze it in that way too. both effective.

@bondyspice you apparently don't know anything about bot flies because tweezers are recommended. You grab the larva from the tip to avoid it from being split. All you did with the paper towel was tugged and pulled at the pup's fur.

@emilie1031 Tweezers are not advised because you can pinch the bot fly in half, leaving the dead carcass in the dog. It's the same concept as removing a tick. Thanks for commenting.

The dog was licking his back a lot. We looked at the spot and it looked irritated and we could feel something lumpy beneath the skin. And, there was a small hole in the skin.

Yes. The disgusting thing did make a sort of squishy noise when it came out but there was no way the video camera was going to pick up the sound. I hope I haven't disappointed you too much. Cheers.

Allegedly they like warm, moist climates. However, this dog got the bot fly here in the plains of Colorado which is a semi-arid desert with hard freezes. And apparently it's not uncommon for small dogs to get them in this area. My large dogs have never had one. I have been told that the flies are also found on horses in this area. Thanks for watching! Hope you're not too grossed out now.
