Obviously Tarja Turunen is better vocalist than Amy lee, because Tarja is an Ópera singer, not professional but she has the voice, and a commercial voice like Amy voice is nothing beside of an Opera singer.... Amy doesn´t have voice technic, she only sings like a common pop singer, but Tarja has the potencial and the technic of a real Soprano...
There´s no comparation , both are great singers but in diferent styles, Amy sings altenative rock and Tarja Symphonic metal ( and sometimes classical music)... But I love Tarja <3 !

Honestly, i think Tarja is the best! She was able to bring opera and metal together and she is a very kind person and generous. Unlike Amy, i'll admit she has a good voice but can't even sing what she makes live and she's to full of herself. By example she said live that she is the only goth chick singer in the world. And in a interview she said that she knew who Nightwish was but never even listened to their music... Just saying. :P
@chiikichiiki I guess you watched that video where she says "I'm the only chick of all the bands" or something, because the person who made that video edited it to make it looks bad. She meant she was the only female singer at that concert. But, Amy is an amazing singer live. Just because she doesn't listen to nightwish doesn't make her bad lol, there are plenty of bands people enjoy, that I don't listen to, but it doesn't meant I hate them or anything. I think both are good in different ways :)

Amy Lee is a female rock singer, nothing more. Joan Jett or Pat Benetar would be a better comparison for her. Tarja is an opera singer doing rock and metal. You cannot compare the two, tarja is a much better vocalist speaking musically in general.

Tarja's voice is perfect. It's so hard to live up to her. She never fails to stun me with her voice, music and beautiful face :) I love Amy, but the fact is she would NEVER beat Tarja. Tarja kicks Amy's ass - infact she kicks everyone's ass. I would love to see Amy try to hold notes like Tarja, HA. That would be funny to see. BUT, Amy can hold the high notes live like in Whisper and Weight of the world, however, during the other parts of the song she sounds DREADFUL.
Both are amazing. But you have to take it into perspective that they are compared mainly because they are dark. But there music is completely different - Tarja/Nightwish is sypmhonic metal/rock, power metal, classical where as Ev is rock, alternative metal, synthpop and alternative dance. I love both <3 SO MUCH. You don't know how I love them. but Amy wins :)

Both Amy Lee and Tarja have breathing problems. I've been a fan of Amy all along, but Tarja's voice is beautiful, too. It bothers me that they both keep grasping for air. Tarja is a good classical soprano, and Amy is an excellent lyrical mezzosoprano. Ok I choose AMy.

Amy Lee just gets her voice fixed by a computer in order to sound good, and sounds decent live, but then fucks it up by doing her "low whispering" and using too much air on them and then sucking at the high notes.

Amy Lee is a female rock singer, nothing more. Joan Jett or Pat Benetar would be a better comparison for her. Tarja is an opera singer doing rock and metal. You cannot compare the two, tarja is a much better vocalist speaking musically in general.

Tarja's voice is perfect. It's so hard to live up to her. She never fails to stun me with her voice, music and beautiful face :) I love Amy, but the fact is she would NEVER beat Tarja. Tarja kicks Amy's ass - infact she kicks everyone's ass. I would love to see Amy try to hold notes like Tarja, HA. That would be funny to see. BUT, Amy can hold the high notes live like in Whisper and Weight of the world, however, during the other parts of the song she sounds DREADFUL.

Both are amazing. But you have to take it into perspective that they are compared mainly because they are dark. But there music is completely different - Tarja/Nightwish is sypmhonic metal/rock, power metal, classical where as Ev is rock, alternative metal, synthpop and alternative dance. I love both <3 SO MUCH. You don't know how I love them. but Amy wins :)

J'aime beaucoup les accents chauds de la voix d'Amy mais les emportées glaciales de Tarja sont aussi une pure merveille, aussi, c'est assez difficile pour moi de les départager. Il n'empêche que la voix de Tarja sans les merveilles de composition de Tuomas en subit un gros coup, elle n'est plus exploitée à sa juste valeur je trouve maintenant...

Of course than Tarja, she is the best, she sang with so much passion and emotion, she's had a dark and power voice . Amy is Mezzo-soprano, Tarja is a Soprano, and Tarja sang as Mezzo-soprano for very long Time, so Tarja is able to sing Bass notes notes of a Mezzo-soprano and Hight Notes of a Lyrical Soprano.
And in live Tarja it sounds so much better than Amy

Both Amy Lee and Tarja have breathing problems. I've been a fan of Amy all along, but Tarja's voice is beautiful, too. It bothers me that they both keep grasping for air. Tarja is a good classical soprano, and Amy is an excellent lyrical mezzosoprano. Ok I choose AMy.

She's just talented, and has great stage presence.
Amy Lee just gets her voice fixed by a computer in order to sound good, and sounds decent live, but then fucks it up by doing her "low whispering" and using too much air on them and then sucking at the high notes.

@MrKarltonn If you don't know who Tarja is, that doesn't mean that NO ONE does! Personaly, I love them both, but I prefer Tarja because her voice is much stronger and more powerful than Amy's. And if there are more people who know Amy, than the ones who know Tarja, that's because amy is an American singer, and Tarja is a Finnish singer. If you love Evanescence, that's good, you have a good taste, but maybe you should open your FUCKING ears and search better!

I like powerful, uplifting music! not loud obnoxious music. Ive heard of within temptation, but thats it.
