  • Sounds like the guy in Family Guy "I went back to bone my girlfriend but she said there was no way."

  • bit of cheeky french music as soon as the French are mentioned hehe, cheeky

  • i think its resolution not reve.....

  • Again, great video documentary but with the usual propaganda. Lucky for the Soviet Union WW3 didn't start in 1962 or Russia would have been a contaminated graveyard. Strategic air command had over 1000 B47 nuclear bombers available at this time, more than enough to wipe out the USSR.

  • @Ibwiseguy Do you know also number of Soviet nuclear bombers and subs? What makes you think that the USA wouldn't be wiped out together with the USSR? :)

  • @BitnikGr I know history tells us that the US had a clear superiority in 1962 over the USSR. This was the last time a nuclear war was "winnable" by the US and there were many high ranking officers in the US that wanted just that....this was Kennedy's finest hour as far as I am concerned. I was in high school at the time and was sure there was going to be a war...thank God it never happened. We used to say, the living would envy the dead after a nuclear war.

  • @Ibwiseguy "A revolution in nuclear strategic thought occurred with the introduction of the intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which the USSR first successfully tested in August 1957. In order to deliver a warhead to a target, a missile was more cost-effective than a bomber, and enjoyed a higher survivability due to the enormous difficulty of interception of the ICBMs due to their high altitude and speed.

    ...

  • @Ibwiseguy ...

The USSR could now afford to achieve nuclear parity with the US in terms of raw numbers, although for a time they appeared to have chosen not to."

The USSR hadn't enormous fleet of nuclear bombers, but since 1957 they started building ICBMs.

    upload.wikimedia . org/wikipedia/commons/b/bb/US_and_USSR_nuclear_stockpiles.svg

According to this picture the US had 20 times more warheads than Soviets, but in 1962 they already had 1000-1500 of them. Were not they enough?

  • @BitnikGr I agree the USSR had many nuclear warheads but could they deliver them accurately, even with ICBMs in 1962? The USSR was also targeted by IRBMs and bombers in NATO Europe at this time as well. I think that would be the deciding factor at that time, remember the Jupiter missles in Turkey. I hope you don't think I'm disrespecting the Russian people. I admire their courage and sacrifice, especially during WW2. I am just giving my personal opinion and again, thanks for the great videos.

  • @Ibwiseguy Does nuclear bomb multiple times powerful than "Little Boy" needs an accuracy? :)

Don't worry. I don't think that you are disrespecting anyone. I just make a point that history books can differ from period to period and from country to country. Reading history from one side is like opening half of the story.

Despite Soviets had 20times less nukes than US, 1000 nukes mean 20 per each state and ICBMs were not interceptable in 1962.

    ...

  • @BitnikGr I agree about your comment on history books, and personally my views have changed a lot over time. What really bothered me about the Cuban Missile Crisis was what I found out in recent years. You are obviously interested in this as well so you should google General Curtis LeMay. This guy wanted to trigger WW3 at this time and till the day he died, he called it "our biggest defeat"....a really scary individual.

  • @Ibwiseguy Whom would you call the scariest individual in the USA today, who could threaten a World peace today?

  • @BitnikGr Barack Obama,,,..combined with his position of power, his incompetence and stupidity rival that of Jimmy Carter. He only cares about re-election and his hollywood supporters.

  • @Ibwiseguy Interesting :)

Would you prefer to see McCain instead of Obama in White House?

  • @BitnikGr I always though McCain was past his prime. Unfortunately, I don't see any strong Republican candidate winning the next election...and the US will continue it's downward spiral...makes me think of the Wiemar republic and what came after...that's really scary.

  • @Ibwiseguy ...

Don't you agree that 20 or even 10 per each state were enough to wipe out USA as effectively as 25.000 American nukes to wipe out the USSR (and the rest of the World) probably.

If US wanted to win a nuclear war against USSR they should do it somewhere prior 1951-1952. When the USSR had less than 50 bombs and all of them could be delivered only by bombers (TU-4), which of course were much more vulnerable to interception.

  • @BitnikGr True. One nuke on Washington, New York, Paris, London, Berlin is not worth it. Nuclear weapons are good at preventing conventional wars, but it also has the ability to cause total destruction. Currently Russia has more nukes than the US : [wikipedia]/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons. Im from South Africa. The only country that had nukes and destroyed them voluntarily. Nukes suck balls. WW3 would likely take around 1 billion lives at least.

  • @108Dax Yes, that's true. Very few people knows that South Africa was a nuclear power and voluntarily denied of nukes. It's a great step, which no other nuclear power didn't do yet.

  • @Ibwiseguy Actually most of the world would be a graveyard. America, Europe and Russia would be destroyed and the rest would have a nice time sucking radioactive fallout.

  • @108Dax ""I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." A. Einstein :)

  • @BitnikGr That happens to be one of my favourite quotes. I actually mentioned that to my gf last night :)

  • @108Dax Damn! Why do you speak about World War with your girlfriend... at night? :)

Don't you have better things to do together... at night ;)

  • @BitnikGr She was on a exercise treadmill fulfilling new years revelations. She was stuck and nowhere to go so I laid down some interesting WW2 facts for her. I don't think she finds it that interesting :)

  • 33:54 dude with brown jacket saluting near aircraft looks almost like trolololol guy.

  • During the Manhattan Project there were already a lot of Russian spies inside it. Stalin new about the bomb before it was used.

  • I watch so much docs and its the first english speaking russian doc that I see.

  • Interesting to see Russian perspective

  • lovein this documentary finally a documentary without western bias saying soviet aircraft are crap and other bullshit

  • Thanks for this videos I was really happy I found this channel new US made stuff does not intrest me at all.

  • @TheRomanDecimator You are welcome!

  • .....blocked the isle of freedom, WTF?!

  • @owieuroi It's explained on comments below. Read them if you are interested.

  • Thanks for uploading this! I enjoyed watching the Russian perspective on their history as I've only seen American documentaries.

  • @TheyCallMeLackey You are welcome!

  • stalin needs to quit smoking.

  • 51:55 is that Putin?

  • @iamnobodyism Yes. Being a president has its lucky moments. Putin flew with TU-95 strategic bomber. Medvedev flew with SU-34. Lucky bastards :)))

  • @BitnikGr he's been "Putin" the Bear's cabin lol

  • thnks for this video whitout american propaganda crap :)

  • @mauricioalfredo83 Instead you get Russian propaganda. My favorite part was "Island of Freedom" for Cuba not even 1:30 in. Don't get me wrong, great series and a great change from American documentaries, but still far from unbiased.

  • @GermanEngineer84 I think "Island of Freedom" is a world-wide known nickname for Cuba. Many countries have such "poetic" names. F.e. "Land of opportunity" for US, "Holy Land" for Israel. Narrator had to use it in order to avoid word "Cuba" in two sentences one after another. Text writers use such literature technique often.

  • @BitnikGr "Land of the Rising Sun" for Japan, "Land of Dawn Freshness" for Korea and "The Middle Kingdom" for China

  • @GermanEngineer84 nothing will ever be unbiased

  • @mauricioalfredo83 Yeah it is nice to hear Russian propaganda crap for a change :)

What did the video call Cuba? the island of freedom I think it said. Always two faces of a coin.

  • @Peorhum The reason why this expression was used here is explained two comments above yours.

  • omfg this is such a great documentary, I've never seen such a good, big, unbiased and accurated documentary about Soviet/Russian aviation before, and I like the narator's voice, it's very clear to listen to, thx for updoading it, sorry for spamming but because I love it!!!

  • One of the best episode of Wings of Russia serial :)

  • russia is saying hi to b-2

  • @deathsaurer123 there is an answer for everything. we said the same thing about f-117

  • @Hatinonthehaters a SAM maybe,but where is the plane???

  • @deathsaurer123 "Stealth" doesn't mean invisible. As there is a "stealth" technologies, there also is an "anti-stealth" technologies. Sooner or later "stealth" aircraft can be discovered, locked and destroyed. Just one part wants it to be "later, when it is already too late", the other part wants it "sooner, before it is too late". :)

  • @deathsaurer123 stealth means low radar detection.

  • @Hatinonthehater I;m not dumb :))
