I do think the next album will be another direction jump, since i heard stuff about them incorperating more synths into the album, now that could be very interesting.

@danyman88 Hey, Ben could have stayed and worked things out if he really wanted to. I think Ev is better off for him being gone. It let the music grow and change with Amy, whereas I think if Ben had been there, it would have been trapped in the Fallen era.

I prefer the fallen era.. The transition to hard metal was way to fast for me.. Amy at one point said she wanted to release a solo album (& go back to her roots) i think she knew she had drifted very far from the music evanescence is about (the metal thing for me was far to mainstream, sounded like our expectation) Like a more metal less rock sounding fallen! The new album 2011, i think it will be less hardcore metal but more experimental sounding (that's how i see them progressing)IMO

Ps.. before ben left they had taken influence from many people, like david hodges (who brought a new dimention to them) none of the artists before ben left were into metal, there was nothing to suggest evanescence were into metal (they were hard rock) i can see she wanted a change, and to her it was progression (new musical ideas) but for me it was just swapping one sound for another.. Swapping to another typical sound, that's not experiementing or progression, it's a new start! IMO :)

I guess fallen was a step towards being a metal album when considering before that there were songs like - anywhere, solitude, october, understanding etc, they were all rock songs (I guess old songs like imaginary had metal roots) so i guess the more i think about it the more i can understand how they drifted towards the metal sound. & i do agree they are great at experimenting, for me all those older rock songs were fairly experimental (in terms of the production/effects)

false. Read his interviews lately when he's talking about his new band We Are The Fallen. No one will ever really know what happened between the two of them, but he chose to leave Evanescence in the middle of a world tour. One day he was just gone without warning. He chose to do that, and because of that Evanescence still lives on, for better or for worse. Amy is the reason why I love Ev, and as long as she's performing - she's got a fan in me. :)

It's pretty evident who the right and wrong person is in this whole drama that has been going on since the fame of Evanescence the band sounds solid but I know for a fact that all the guys that are no more in the band were serious and passionate about it...
