@sanandreas600 any chance you could share information about the recipe? I'm a home brewer and I would really love to explore Missouri history by making beers from these old Missouri breweries. Any information would be helpful, even old receipts...
There was a huge immigration of Germans to the Metro St.Louis area from 1840-1900 whom brought their brewing recipes and set up businesses.I have sorted through old maps and address books while doing genealogy and the amount of breweries listed is funny. At 1 time the court house square in Belleville,IL had : the court house, a cigar maker,a nail mfg and 6 breweries.St.Louis had tons but few have survived.
@goldensassenach do you have information that could help recreate any of these old brews? even receipts, logs, notes... anything that might give some clues about how to recreate them.
Am I the only one who would like to taste the original Lemp Beer? How can they be sure it wouldn't appeal to modern customers? It seems kind of daft to me to produce a once-popular brand with a different formula. New Coke, anyone?
Anne Marie has our surname, Berger, the 700th most popular name in the US.
Five Bergers, not directly related, worked with me at Famous Barr. While in Chicago, someone picked up my paycheck. It was not Eric Berger. Berger, Mo, is not far from our Chesterfield.
Ye ole Lemp Griesedieck.

The old Lemp Brewery Falstaff logos were sandblasted off by people that bought the brewery.

I was just at the Saint Louis Brewers Heritage Fest and the Lemp folks were conspicuously absent.
