I can't pin an exact date on it, but the presence of Snuffy around people other than Big Bird shows that it's from later than November 18th, 1985.

Judging from how everyone's wearing their hats backwards: my guess is it's probably from sometime between '86 to mmmaybe the very-early '90s. It was 'cool' back then.

Elmo's been around for as long as I can remember, and I was born in '89, so it couldn't've been any later than probably '91 or '92. :)

The name of this clip has caused a lot of confusion since Elmo had been around for a number of years before this clip. This isn't "Elmo's Debut" in the sense of it being the first time Elmo was on the show but rather just the title of the clip (Elmo's debut in his imagination)

Absolutely, this clip is from like 1991 or 1992, Elmo actualy started out as one of the random monsters on the show. According to Muppet wiki, Elmo didn't debut as Elmo until Season 12. The earliest clip of Elmo I've seen was from 1985. I guess Sesame Worksop is too lazy to go throught their archive of tapes and find the earliest clip of Elmo.
