I live an hour and a half from Mackinac Island where Somewhere in Time was filmed and it is the most beautiful place that I have ever been too. There is a stone with a plaque right at the exact spot on the shore where Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour met after he went back in time. And the Grand Hotel is gorgeous. If you ever get a chance to go there, definitely do so.

Love this movie. I was just up to Mackinac Island(where Somewhere in Time was filmed) last weekend (I live about an hour away). Every year, they have a Somewhere in Time weekend at the Grand Hotel and it was last weekend. They also have a plaque right at the spot where Jane Seymour asks Christopher Reeve "Is it you?"

@orlandobabe Hi. Yes it is a very magical place. Why do you have to leave? Are you on vacation or something? I live 1 hour from the island and plan on taking my boat there and walking around. Hope you will return to the Island soon. If I could go to the island and get sucked back in time to a time that was simpler where true love did exist I would in a heartbeat.

I agree - EXCEPT with all due respect I would have ended with the final scene of them together at the end of the movie, instead of the hotel...

@swagelock11 You can look at it in two ways the romantic ending or the sad one, I still like this ending! he found, met and lost her there so the hotel ending makes sense! This music is romantic but also very sad so I like it that I'm left choked at the end where Richard has just lost he's love I think it highlights the point of emotion of the film.The real ending of the film I'm not that keen on, I think it should of been left with heartache as its that part which has me crying every time..lol

Part of my grieving process was / is to listen to this soundtrack and watch the movie. Just as they ended up together, I'd like to believe that my Caroline's spirit lives on, and that we will be together again one day......

Besides, I've always preferred happy endings.

The first time I heard this theme was on Alan Almond's "Pillowtalk" on WNIC in Detroit... back in the early '90s. This specific version, from Roger Williams. For the longest time I tried to figure out what this song was and what it was from, but never did. Now, almost 20 years later, by pure luck and chance, Somewhere In Time was on Encore when I was flipping through the channels a couple days ago and the theme started playing. Funny how songs find YOU sometimes... after all this time. :)

Just saw this movie again...yesterday. Yeah, it's a "chick" flick, but I like "chick" flicks, so just shoot me. Actually I must admit that I felt like Christopher Reeve was lacking here...a little too much Clark Kent. Jane Seymour more than made up for it. The music, with Roger Williams piano, is stunningly beautiful.
