Pixar is semi independent of Disney Disney was trying to milk Pixar for every cent by releasing bull shit spin off tv shows and low budget direct to DVD sequels disney loves so much. Pixar threatened to break away from disney completely unless they were allowed to do their own thing. Disney agreed and was allowed some Pixar benefits in return Pixar makes it's own decisions but still receives money from Disney.
