I always thought that it was ironic that the Nobel prize was named after a guy who invented dynamite. It's much like MENSA is spanish for stupid. I sympathize with your concern for people subject to unethical treatment (ie., a kid digging for diamonds in Africa).

However, that does not diminish the overwhelmingly positive contributions to society from university professors and researchers - whether or not they wear Nobel medals.
