Adventist theology is intensely anti-Catholic. SDA cannot change its views on the catholic Church being the Whore of Babylon without admitting that it was wrong on Sunday worship. Cannot admit that Sunday worship is not the mark of the beast without changing its views on the Jewish Sabbath, SDAs cannot cease to be anti Catholic with out ceasing to be Seventh Day Adventists. I really think that what I read in Hebrews was the correct way to understand what Paul said. If we truly love God, we don't have to fight in order to substantiate not giving Him due respect. If we truly love Him, we want to go overboard to give Him glory. I became a born again christian, accepted what Christ did for me on the cross as the final payment, as he said "it is finished". There is nothing else I can do to add to that.

As a protestant, I implore you to read the book of Hebrews, where it says that when we become christians we enter into His rest, that is Christ's rest. He is at rest from his redemptive work on the cross stating "it is finished" when he died. We are entered into that rest. Sabbath keeping is no longer binding, only your faith in christ will save you. Read what Paul says in the book of Romans on that subject.
Steve, in considering Christ's rest, HE INSTITUTED the Sabbath rest for HIMSELF, ADAM, EVE, and ALL OF MANKIND more than 6,000 years ago.
His redemptive work IS ONGOING, EVER SINCE the cross; if not, He would have had NO NEED WHATSOEVER to send His Holy Spirit to us to convict us of sin, bring us to repentance, and the realization that we EACH need to accept Jesus as our Saviour, Redeemer, RE-Creator, and Lord, or die in our sins.

thank you for posting, I always wonder why Christians worship on Sundays, I believed it was somewhere in scripture. But now after searching and asking Christian friends , have not found any scripture where God change the day of the Shabbat.
Christ was Jewish and so of course He kept the Jewish Sabbath. Christ did break the Sabbath and defended his deciples when they did the same. Why did Christ remain silent on the one commandment about keeping the Jewish Sabbath? He spoke and taught about the other nine??

The Sabbath was not and is not strictly Jewish. The Sabbath was instituted at Creation and was made sacred by God.

The fact is that Adam was the only man in existence at the time God made the Sabbath. There were no Jews in the world for at least 2,000 years after Creation. It could never have been made for them.
God rested on the seventh day but Adam was not created at that time.
Jews were not commanded to observe the Sabbath until Moses came down from the mount with the tablets. Circumcision and Sabbath worship were signs of the jews, God's chosen people. Paul was sent to convert the Jews and where would he find them on the Sabbath? The temple of course. The Jews rejected Christ, the cornerstone, and were cursed.

The word Sabbath is not found in Genesis and nothing is said about Adam and Eve resting. God did not need to rest. Exodus 16:23-24 Moses told the Israelites that the Lord prescribed the Sabbath as a day of complete rest and not to bake or boil the manna. Thus the first mention of Sabbath is in connection with the manna. Restated in the 10 commandments in Ex20:8-11.

Christ didn't violate the Sabbath law, he violated the Pharisees account of the Law, the Mosaic Law that they had manipulated to make it a burden rather than a joy. Adventist theology is intensely anti-Catholic. SDA cannot change its views on the catholic Church being the Whore of Babylon without admitting that it was wrong on Sunday worship. Cannot admit that Sunday worship is not the mark of the beast without changing its views on the Jewish Sabbath, SDAs cannot cease to be anti Catholic with out ceasing to be Seventh Day Adventists. I understand you need to be anti-Catholic for your sect to continue. But it does not make it right.

You mean the same way that the Roman Catholic Church has for centuries, I think not! You've done enough damage, by changing the words of the Holy Scriptures! Every time you guy's decide to translate the bible into another language you leave out something important, or add what you like! The reason so many are confused about the scriptures is because it keeps changing.I bet the Popes have all the original copies of the Holy Bible,why all the secrecy? I really think that what I read in Hebrews was the correct way to understand what Paul said. To enter into His rest, is to enter into Christ's redemption, I can rest from doing all the time.For I can't please God, & God knew it, So He provided the answer, the sacrifice of himself to appease his fierce judgement on me. Oh thank you Jesus for becoming sin on a tree for me. I entered your rest when you said it is finished then 2000 years later I came along & trusted that. Becoming Born Again.

If we truly love God, we don't have to fight in order to substantiate not giving Him due respect. If we truly love Him, we want to go overboard to give Him glory. We wouldn't fight to withold honor, we would want to do all to show our respect and reverence. Question is: Do we really love God or love our position? Am I worshipping the God of my intellect or the God of heaven (Creator) who says the wisdom of man is foolishness with God. Just obey. Simple!

I am referring to Romans 3:22,
I became a born again christian, accepted what Christ did for me on the cross as the final payment, as he said "it is finished". There is nothing else I can do to add to that.
I became a child of God a new creation as Paul puts it. I have entered into His rest. He kept the law for me. That is not to say I have liberty to sin, but there is christian liberty. You won't ever understand untill you have Christ truly in your heart. W/out Christ you are non of His.

iknow who Bates was my friend, please check out his connection to Preble. SDA's ought not to have an issue with any members of the RRC, it is the teachings of the church that i as an SDA have a problem with. I believe that there are many in the RCC who are genuinely following Christ according to the light which they have received.

9712bluestar, Also notice that Christ discusses nine of the ten commandments in the N.T but nowhere does he talk about the commandment to keep the Jewish Sabbath Holy. why would Christ leave that out? Christ rose from the dead on Sunday, appeared to his deciples on Sunday, The Holy Spirit on Pentecostal Sunday, and Paul spoke about breaking bread on Sunday in the N.T. so early Christians were worshiping on Sunday long before Emperor Constantine made it legal.

As a protestant, I implore you to read the book of Hebrews, where it says that when we become christians we enter into His rest, that is Christ's rest. He is at rest from his redemptive work on the cross stating "it is finished" when he died. We are entered into that rest. Sabbath keeping is no longer binding, only your faith in christ will save you. Read what Paul says in the book of Romans on that subject.

Steve, in considering Christ's rest, HE INSTITUTED the Sabbath rest for HIMSELF, ADAM, EVE, and ALL OF MANKIND more than 6,000 years ago.
His redemptive work IS ONGOING, EVER SINCE the cross; if not, He would have had NO NEED WHATSOEVER to send His Holy Spirit to us to convict us of sin, bring us to repentance, and the realization that we EACH need to accept Jesus as our Saviour, Redeemer, RE-Creator, and Lord, or die in our sins.
His words "It is finished" refer to Satan's domination of man.

The fact is that Adam was the only man in existence at the time God made the Sabbath. There were no Jews in the world for at least 2,000 years after Creation. It could never have been made for them.

God rested on the seventh day but Adam was not created at that time.
Jews were not commanded to observe the Sabbath until Moses came down from the mount with the tablets. Circumcision and Sabbath worship were signs of the jews, God's chosen people. Paul was sent to convert the Jews and where would he find them on the Sabbath? The temple of course. The Jews rejected Christ, the cornerstone, and were cursed.

The word Sabbath is not found in Genesis and nothing is said about Adam and Eve resting. God did not need to rest. Exodus 16:23-24 Moses told the Israelites that the Lord prescribed the Sabbath as a day of complete rest and not to bake or boil the manna. Thus the first mention of Sabbath is in connection with the manna. Restated in the 10 commandments in Ex20:8-11.

Christ didn't violate the Sabbath law, he violated the Pharisees account of the Law, the Mosaic Law that they had manipulated to make it a burden rather than a joy. How can Jesus violate the very day that he himself gave them?? It is his day, it belongs to him: Mark 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Why did he rise after 3 days and not immediately? Because he died on the eve of the 6th day Fri, rested on his sabbath day and rose on the 1st day of the week SUNday.

Ok first point, i assume nothing, it is you who are assuming. Where does it say anywhere in the whole Bible the Sabbath was only for the Jews?? Judah is only one of 12 tribes and the Sabbath was instigated since creation:

Yes that is correct, to love God with all your heart soul and might covers the first stone tablet and to love your neighbour as yourself covers the second:
1John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
[3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Jesus quoted both those commands from the Old Testament, Deut 6:4,5 and Lev 19:18.

In this passage the church is in strife, because some see it still fitting to observe the feast days, where as those with a better understanding realise there is no need as they were fulfilled in Christ, as for the food, there was contentions about buying meat in the markets that had been sacrificed to idols making it unclean, they are told not to judge one another over this, as each man is to do as his conscience dictates, Christ will be your judge!!

That is correct my friend, but it was also a day that was made holy, it was the only day that God sanctified, therefore when we rest, we give God worship and praise on His holy day, we spend time with our Creator, being obedient to His command to desist from our labour:

My friend Jesus is God, there are not 2 Gods with 2 agendas, it plainly states in Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints, here are they who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. I am saved by the blood of Christ, but because of my love for Him, I obey His commandments:
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
When I fail, I go to Christ:
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Let not wisdom (Sophia) or Knowledge (Gnosis) become a trapping, for it(Justification/Salvation)is not in the "Tools" or Rituals nor is it in the observance of a day..Nor in a secret handshake as to be so vain as to conceive you(SDA) alone know the path.... For it is in a personal relationship with the risen Jesus...That no man boast as to his "deserving" the Gift that belongs only to Christ (Donum Dei) Cont.

@nanabonniez , Are you an idiot or something? And i say that in love friend, have you also forgotten that Christ is a Jew? And knowing this, how on earth do you people think that He would change His father's law, even one of them. And the lest being the sabbath day! Give me abreak. If the Father and Son change's not, why on earth would you think He/Christ did? It don't have to be in the new testiment, for you can't get around or do away with the old one/testiment. shalom.

Of course Paul met with the Jews on the Sabbath. It was Paul's job to convert the Jews. They were Jewish, where else would jews be on Saturday but the temple observing the Jewish Sabbath? We are not Jews , Show me where Christ commanded us to follow the Jewish Sabbath in the N.T? He talked about all the commandments except keeping the Sabbath Holy. Why would He omit that commandment if it was so important? Because at the last supper He began His work as the new covenant.

@nanabonniez , you are so naive, how can paul convert the Jews when paul himself was a jew, get your fact's straight sister. And FYI, so was Christ! And paul was a zealot when it came down to the law of God. Paul say's that he was sent to the gentiles. But Christ told the Apostles to not go to the way of the Smartians, or the Gentiles, but to go preaching the word to the lost house of the sheep of Israel, which happens to be the JEWS.!? Shalom.

Like I said before, The Ten Commandments has always been around, therefore, the Sabbath of our Lord has always been on the seventh day=Saturday! You can't pick and choose what day, or make up a day to worship Him, that is blatant disobedients! Who are you or anyone else to change God's Holy Sabbath? Did He tell you, you could,no,I think not!

Yes, that is right! Paul met with the Jews in the synagogue because they were Jews that he was taking the message of Christ to!! He was converting them to Christianity.

The Sabbath day IS Saturday (friday sunset to saturday sunset because God counts days evening to morning and not the other way around like we humans do). It was the Pagan Roman Catholic Empire that changed it to Sunday, under the rule of Emperor Constantine. And after him, it was established by the Council of Laodecia in 364AD. By 538AD, Pagan Rome had global dominance & enforced as a Law that sunday should be observed as the new Sabbath

Look in a history of the Christian Church and see that it was emperor Constantine that made Sunday worship official when he made the Christian Church the official religion because he converted to Christianity. The RCC did not change the day. The early Christians were worshiping on Sunday all by themselves. No one made them worship on Sunday. You mock the Church that Christ established.
