Oh those Germans and their zany hijinx! It's like a music video from the snl skit "Shprockets". It wouldn't matter if the screen showed only a closeup of Yaphet Khotto, it was still a great jam. Too bad they didn't do it like a couple of dueling bands with the orchestra in the middle. Rather than the ensemble jamming away for a while, I think having them act as a musical fulcrum between Deep Purple and a band like Jethro Tull would have made for an amazing video but then again I'm not German.
in opposition with most of the comments here I find this video astonishing...this is something historical, more of a documentary post-hippies psichedelic age which reflects the society of the time then a simple music video...and this is great...
I for one would love to hear Ian sing this one. I would also like to take the German director, who kept killing the mood of the song by cutting other sound and ambiance into it, and cut some ambiance into his head with a claw hammer. What a fucking asshole.
I find this very disappointing. April is a great song but seeing mark 2 (with the exception of Blackmore who is mostly off screen) from the back miming a mark one song is no great thing. How must Gillan have felt having to mime Evan's voice?
the speed up at the end make this song even better than the original studio one...this should have been recorded live in studio...anyway a complete Masterpiece!
@nazzare79 Actually, this is the exact same recording, although I think they might have used a different take for the guitar solo at the end. Otherwise, it's the same.
This song is gonna last forever!

I think this video CANNOT display the band on the whole, because Gillan had just replaced Evans and so Glover for Simper

Don't you think there is some part of the frame cut on the left side? How come we see only three or four members of the group?
