forget about the debt issue - why on earth would they show a 4 WEEK OLD baby being force fed a plastic bottle?!? in a promotional video??!! I believe that actually goes against the international code of 1981 on the promotion of breastmilk substitutes. If I had to chose I think I'd rather my kids were born with debt rather than be formula fed. Outrageous image Mr. Cameron, you should be ashamed!
They deserve better? Under the Tories their schools will either be massively underfunded or be poorly run by a bunch of clueless middleclass housewives. If they can afford to go to university once the Tories remove the cap on tuition fees and are able to get decent grades despite the decreasing state of Britain’s schools, they will be saddled with both a massive debt and forced to pay an extra graduate tax for the rest of their lives. They do deserve better, they deserve a labour government.
I am so sad to see that bottle-feeding is being shown in this video as a norm. It would be great to know whether Mrs Cameron is planning to breastfeed the baby she is expecting now.
That's exactly where all the benefit money goes. There are lots of people who are on benefits and have the latest mobile phones, satelite TV, etc.
Wouldn't it be better to scrap all benefits and provide jobs that pay a decent living wage?
If people can't afford to have children, then they shouldn't have any. Or, if they still can't keep their underwears on, they should go out, work and earn the money.
Don't vote for cameron he only cares about the rich people vote lib dem or labor also it isn't gorden's fault he became prime minister when the debt was already a crisis so Cameron don't be a lying scum bag

Money couldn't buy my vote 4 the corupt war mongering labour and conservative parties. Doesn't matter how many leaflets, billboard posters, press conferences etc. that Brown- Labour and Cameron- Conservatives have.
LIb Dems have EARNED my vote without spending a penny, 4 putting principles above political ambition.
IDEA!Tax state handouts.Theres folk who live off the British taxpayer & get giro, sick £, rent paid, council tax, prescriptions, teeth, school lunch/ trips, you name it they get it for working 0 hours. I work 40 hours and pay 34% + stoppages.Child poverty is a load of cobblers most non working families will have more disposable £than my home but no1 has to work for it so whats the attraction in work? Lots of lazy parents out there who would not work anyway,Tax them 2"% & reduce my tax by 1%fair?
6th Jan 2010 PMQs ended with Cameron embarrassed and at times face in his hands.
All his points back fired and he achieved nothing via damaging Labour. It actually ended with damaging Conservative front bencher's showing his Leadership is a joke.
Don't Trust a Tory
Trust Labour
Vote Labour
ps Cameron will take away the guarantee to see a cancer specialist if suspected with Cancer
pps He will also take away the right to spend the critical first few weeks with your new born baby
I can't wait for the next election to see this fucking useless buffoon kicked out of number 10. He love of fucking borrowing is going to bankrupt this country.
How do you solve the problem of a country with massive debt. Borrow more money and plunge it into more debt. Duh ! .
Jilted John was right about you "Gordon is a moron "
Remember the Winter of Discontent? Remember 25% inflation? Remember the IMF coming to bail us out? Remember mass strikes? Remember rubbish piling up in the streets? Remember corpses waiting to be buried? Vote Labour and vote for your own slavery.
Actually credit is not "real money" Its just monopoly money and you dont have to pay into the corrupt banking system of american enslavement,, most mainstream ppl just know about settlement but that a HUGE scam so i figured ide share this info about this amazing company who helped me get rid of my debt within a year and protected my assets(home, bank) from any liens or levy..their cost is dirt cheap..check them out debtcrisissolutions(dot)com or call the person directly who helped me 347-492-4014
a minium wage means nothing if Gordon Brown lumbers you with massive amounts of debt your better off on five quid an hour with a 40 k mortgage rather than 6 quid an hour and a 100k mortgage!! (labour's economic miracle)
Gordon Brown is posessed with debt ie: scrappage deal, get rid of a perfectly good brought and paid for car so you can go into debt for another one !!
Hmmm... which party was it that introduced the minimum wage, child and working tax credits? Not Tory surely? No. It wasn't.
If they get in I can see the min wage staying at its present low level for years and the tax credits being abolished. That will teach them to vote Tory!
Yeh :-/ Being an only child it was easy at times to think me me me because my parents wanted to give me everything they could. But its about finding a passion and realizing that being bored at home is no supplement for achieving in life, and having some encouragement makes a dream seem more tangible. Our welfare system is too easy here, i mean i think its fantastic for the needy having seen its positive effects. But some, want to it handed on a golden platter.
Its also a joke because parents don't teach enough of their kids to work hard, especially with the rise in young mums. However, I went to an average state school and i worked hard because my parents would have been p*ssed off if i didn't. Its a 2 way thing, it takes efforts not just from teachers but from the pupils. I hope to teach HND students at some stage next year, and i have met some of the students who pay thousands - but rarely turn up to class. This is echoed in many colleges
ok so when we have a recession in tory times it is there fault and then when there is one in labour times it is the tories fault too...this is why people will stop voting labour...just accept that this government has made some bad decisions and now 'things can only get better', don't just BE labour cos ur parents were it's 2009...look at the facts
why can labour ppl never accept any responsibility...Brown was chancellor and failed to regulate the banks, he smugly congratulated himself as the country indulged in massive credit spending, he sold the gold reserve and nuclear technology...what's that got to do with the tories...grow up
In a mere 24 hours the size of the pension deficits facing some of Britains biggest companies has jumped £100 billion to a record £390 billion - the equivalent of over £150,000 for every member of a final salary scheme.
This is a direct result of the Banks announcement this week to create £150 billion & pour it directly into the financial system, already decimated by Gordon Browns decision to levy a £6 billion tax raid on pension funds dividends.
Over 600,000 people are due to retire onto these schemes over the next year. Should annuity rates fall a further percentage point, it will mean the annual pension of someone with a £100,000 pension pot may drop from around £7,000 to £6,000.
The truth is that pensions savings are what pay the price for these efforts to bail out the economy in the short term. The plan is to fix todays problems at the expense of our children - by paying shedloads of money which has to be paid back tomorrow.
But you're not though - that's simply believing what the red-tops tell you without scrutinising the actuality of the situation.
This investment in the banks is a redeemable asset which will be eventually sold for a massive profit. Don't fall into the trap of talking our country down on the basis of political belief.
Mind you, I do sometimes wonder whether the opposition parties would prefer to see this country lie in ruins just so they can say 'nyah nyah told you so'.
Gordon Bennett Brown has just (today) perpetrated the greatest ever fraud on the British People.
He has allowed RBS (to dump) to insure toxic assets worth £325bn and Lloyds will dump £250 bn and Bankers expect Barclays join in, potentially lifting the country's exposure to the bad lending practices of the three British banks to £700bn half the size of the country's £1.4 trillion economic output!!!
FRAUD in an UNHEARD OF SCALE! And YOU are backing it!
(World Recession) If These Banksters and Corporation had lost all this Money (Fiat Money) then the Simple Question is WHERE HAS ALL THE MONEY GONE !!?? .Ps they (Media/Press/TV/Puppet Leaders) tell us that Asia is also in Recession (China/Japan/India) So Where??.....Research the New World Order ! on here youtube for the answer..
Well that's just it; there's only ever going to be a long-term solution to this problem.
I don't understand your point about interest payments wiping out any future profit. If anything it'll be the opposite; the banks are paying interest to the Treasury on the money lent to them and also, again, in the long-term, the Treasury still owns the share capital in the companies which will be redeemed for a large profit once the economic cycle inevitably places us in a boom situation. It's win-win.
So what happens when the economy picks up, and the public stakeholding in the banking system is sold off for a ridiculous proft, probably leading to lower taxes all round?
All this titbit does is *assume* that nothing's going to change. "But nothing will under Labour" you all predictably cry. Well, take a look at the science behind economic cycles, and you'll see that there'll be an inevitable upturn where the taxpayer will reap dividends.
Considering the huge amount of money the government has had to pump into the banks it is unlikely they will generate any profit on that investment at all. It will take years to do so, and in that time interest payments on the huge debts will wipe out any future profits.
If you are so sure of this then are you investing in bank shares at the moment? I'm not.
The old boy network forgot to mention the little problem of the 10 billion (11 if you read the fine print) that is missing from HBOS's accounts, and which you - the taxpayer will now have to stump up!!
Hey - Old Boys don't have to do due diligence - do they?
And our glorious leader and his puppet taxman
will claim not to know anything about it either!!
What exactly does Gordon do as Prime Minister? Maybe the FSA Lords meet to play cards, or swat up on how to fiddle the MPs and Lords price structure - 'cos they sure as hell don't watch the economy!
Agreed but when the repayments are higher than income bankruptcy occurs
Gordon Bennett employed 'Sir' James Crosby (pension 9m from RBS) to make sure details of the over-rinflation & excessive growth of the banks - built on false house prices and bank lending did NOT come to light.
The old boy network won & Gordon Browns hands are as covered in blood as the rest of the FSA and the bankers.
The City won't forget being betrayed by him.
Nor will the unions and normal people paying his 'debt'!
I paid for my own schooling in the USA with something called WORK...
I could actually have had family money pay for it, but I did have good grades (scholarship) and an interest in a field where my employer also helped. I did it on my own without a government nanny, but yet I have people who give no benefit to me robbing me with government thugs to pay for theirs.
I don't mind helping a military man, but I am tired of the illegal immigrants and lazy public welfare cases who will not work.
I am not with the Tories. I am a monarchist who supports BNP, lacking a king who will just hang the traitors in Parliament.
And yes, I am violently anti-Muslime... But racist? I also side with the BJP in India in case you have any more stupid ideas like that to toss around...
You support the BNP. The BNP are Nazis. They are racist, white supremacist facists. If you genuinely don't realise that, you are a fool. Otherwise, you're a racist.
nu labour are nothing more than a corrupt, disgraced and discredited byword for all that is sick, broken and deformed in our once beautiful country
make no mistake, we will not stop until we have cleansed every last trace of this evil regime from our history
by whatever means necessary labour will be toppled - I'm looking forward to the dawn of a new era in British politics free from the scum and filth that has infested these islands since 1997
Hahaha what a loser. You have no idea how stupid you sound. You sound like the description on the back of a DVD box for a Schwarzenneger film. Carry on, your comments are great entertainment.
"We"? You're apparently forming this "new party" you talk about, which seems to be a right-wing nationalist militaristic group (rather like the BNP). Your party aren't going to win the election, instead you'll have to make do with lefty-liberal 2green" Cameron who's going for the centre ground, exactly like New Labour. If you think you'll see a big change, think again.
I don't worship hitler and neither does anyone i know in the BNP,wtf has hitler got to do with anything? Grow up and go spout you're hitler crap at someone else you fascist.
Oooh, he's played the age card again, what a winner. I was hoping he wouldn't bring up my age because obviously that instantly nullifies my argument and WeAreTheBrits wins everytime.
Are you going to use that line in the House of Commons when your party takes Westminster by storm? It's a good'un.
It's good because it's implying that I've not expressed a coherent opinion thus far even tough anybody who can read knows that is false. Well done you.
A critique of coherent argument from an anti-communist who believes workers should strike to destroy the capitalist free market? A man who's best comeback is "You're only 23"?
Either you don't know what incoherent means or you can't read.
I'm out of my depth? That'll be why you don't respond to any points anyone has put to you and why you're trying to get me not to reply because you know you've lost the argument.
It's plain to everybody you've no idea what you're talking about.
As the Government holds a 43 per cent stake in HBOS, much of the loss will be borne at taxpayers' expense. The Government invested £17.7 billion in Lloyds & HBOS on behalf of taxpayers. The loss on investment to date amounts to £8.3 billion - or £143 for every person in the country. The responsibility for this perverse and costly outcome rests with the Government.
The real weakness is that we are unable to sack the CEO - Gordon Brown. Even in a bank he would have been fired by now.
If you're going to come in on a Tory video, at least join in the debate and give a justification why we should vote BNP. Just saying "Vote BNP" contributes nothing.
My age has very little to do with what happened at Total and the widespread strikes.
Companies are not charities. The whole point of their existance is to make money and are answerable only to their shareholders.
The Italian firm fairly won the contract against I think 3 UK firms. It's a business decision. Why should they not take the best deal because some communists will cause trouble if they don't?
The sympathy strikes are in no way defencible either.
If the British workers stopped all this retarded striking everytime some small decision doesn't go their way, they might have time to compete with the foreign firms and win the business fairly.
Not at all, it's just that the company was well within it's rights to hire whoever gives it the best deal and I support them doing that.
That's the free market, the same free market on which this country has built it's wealth.
You seem to be confused. Your profile has what is presumably a criticism of Labour with a hammer and sickle next to Mandleson, yet you support the anti-capitalist, communist stance that was exactly what Labour was about.
legalize cannabis and you will get my vote im looking to change from labour after the upgrade to class B. if you look at the polls you will see more want cannabis legalized than not may be you could get the 4+million uses to vote for you if you change the law.
LABOUR peers are prepared to accept fees of up to £120,000 a year to amend laws in the House of Lords on behalf of business clients, a Times investigation has found.
Four peers — including two former ministers — offered to help undercover reporters posing as lobbyists obtain an amendment in return for cash.
Two of the peers were secretly recorded telling the reporters they had previously secured changes to bills going through parliament to help their clients
let the poor die, close all nhs hospitals, kick out all immigrants, bring back the cane,............. carlsberg dont do manifestos but if they did .............
this might not count for much but as an american following british politics i fancy cameron and the conservative party, i think it would be beneficial to england and the world, as oppose to gordon brown who got handed the pm job with his thumb up his ass and a yr 1/2 later the thumb is still there
There is no "debt crisis". We've had to deal with debt before and coped (Black Wednesday-which happened when Cameron was Special Advisor to Norman Lamont). We can deal with it by taxing the rich :) We'll be making money back from all the shares we bought in the banks when they were extremely cheap. This is Tory scaremongering. The real crisis is unemployment, repossessions and failing businesses-which the Tories aren't talking about, because they don't care.
Woah, how deluded can you get. VOTE LABOUR COZ DERE HELPIN DE PEOPLEZ!!!!!!1111ONE!! DEY GOT OUR INTERESTS IN MIND, NOT THEM DIRTY MONEY STEALIN TOFFZ WHO R DE CONSERVATIVES!!! ALL THEY WUNT IS TO SEE THE RICH GET RICHUR!!! HARRIET HARMAN...ACCEPTIN DONATIONS AND WANTING TO EXEMPT THE MPS EXPENSES FROM THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT?? NO, WE'RE NOT HYPOCRITES AT ALL!
Gordon Brown introduced the minimum wage. David Cameron, the millionaire, opposed it. Gordon Brown has increased welfare, including pensions and child tax crdits, and funded it by raising tax on high earners. David Cameron, the millionaire opposed it. Gordon Brown is trying to stop jobs going, and trying to create new ones. David Cameron, the millionaire, wants to close jobcentres, and slash apprenticeships, get rid of Surestart, but wont close hospitals or schools "for 2 years." Enough said.
"Nice little opinion of delusion." You're the deluded one if that's your argument. Under the Tories the poorest 10% had their income cut by an average 17%, whilst the income of the richest soared. They closed 246 hospitals. By 97 we had the worst child poverty rate in the developed world. Labour dragged 1,000,000 children andpensioners out of poverty, gave us the min wage, 100 new hospitals and the gap got narrower. Whether you like it or not, it's the truth.
Labour have done nothing to narrow the poverty gap. On the contrary, they gave the UK a speculator's charter, and encouraged people to enrich themselves by
siphoning wealth from others rather than generating it. Want to make money in Labour's Britain? Great, buy yourself a portfolio of buy-to-lets, and get other
people to buy you some houses while you put your feet up.
Or work in the City and award yourself bonuses from transferring wealth into your back pocket by performing risky trades where you can walk away when the bet goes south. No need to do actual wealth-generating work in GB's GB. Fantastic!
brown takes back over 30persent in tax and NIcontributions from the M wage. increased, welfare bennifits for the scroungers manely paid for by the the workers not the high earners145new indirect taxs me thinks.stollen 75bill out of pension funds causing great poverty for the ordanary people who created the wealth in the first place buy working in stead of scrounging.under brown job centres are our only growth industry. The rest of the statement isnt worth an anser.
thedavewalkershow: Your whole comment is not worthy of an answer. I get tired of arguing with the despairingly high number of idiots like you who all spout the same shit and lies. And learn to spell.
That is just the sort of anser i would exspect from a labour supporter totaly bankcrupt of idears just like your labour party.i am glad you said despairingly high number because labour is dwindling fast.I never get tired of seting the record straight when it comes to labour.shame on you for picking on my spelling but as i said you do vote labour.
There most assuredly IS a debt crisis. Brown made sure of that by switching to the CPI in 2005 when the housing market was reaching its natural limit, in order to prolong the boom by misrepresenting inflation and allowing the "independent" BoE to keep interest rates low. The guy is an economic illiterate. I voted Labour in 97 and 2001. In retrospect, I'm embarrassed. They've been a disaster.
How much will the taxpayer be paying if we allow unemployment to skyrocket and become long-term, as the Tories (and David Cameron as Special Advisor to the Chancellor-Norman Lamont) did in '92? And before that in the early '80s? The Tories created TWO lost generations of people who were long-term unemployed, and we've been paying ever since.
Except that the debt isn't divided equally between each person is it? It's the rich that will be paying the higher taxes, and that's what you don't like. So fuck the poor, let them lose their jobs, let their businesses go bust, because it's "a price worth paying", so long as people earning £150,000 a year don't have to pay 5% extra tax a few years from now. Tory scum.
BOTH PARTYS YES,but not 2.5mill a friend of mine working as a manager in bennifits said they were given targets to get them off the dole on to bennifits,When the mines were at there best it was still 4pounds per ton cheaper to import it from austialia,i was happy to pay that till the miners started to close our country down.If labour get in again it will be 10times worse than the thirtys .they are erroding our rights day buy day.
brown has brought in the green taxs, skips up buy 90pounds per skip 1billion estra tax, tiping fees up 9pounds per ton 1billion exstra tax, sand gravel exstraction taxs 1billion,the green methane tax 1billion,ect,ect,ALMOST NONE OF THE TAXS HAVE BEEN PUT BACK IN TO THE INVIRERMENT.Birmingham council have a higher speck to work to when housing asylum seekers and a lower speck for our own people compliments of a labour goverment.
Yes 3.5mill under tories, labour then put 2.5mill on incapacity to disgiuse dole figures. We now have 2mill on dole soon to be 3mill,2.5mill incapacity,2mill asylum seekers,1mill ileagals,1mill on skeems to disgiuse dole figures. We are the gun, knife, drugs, capital of europe.20000 die of infections in our hospitals every year, our children are being murderd under the noses of social services every week, and when there court they get 50percent off there sentances.
The extremely bizarre letter you sent out today to all those who have complained about the bottle feeding issue, is just making matters worse. We are complaining about BOTTLE feeding issues. 4000 babies die every day from contaminated baby bottles. Sending a letter out saying breastfeeding is fine for those who choose it, is NOT THE ISSUE. This is not about breastfeeding - it's about BABY BOTTLE DEATHS. Remove the images. Listen to the very people you are stating you are trying to reach.
The country was on its knees when Thatcher came in..and was one of the world's largest thriving economies when the Tories left in 97..facts that you can't escape from..and now we've had 11 years of Labour misrule..country almost bankrupt, unemployment rising, violent crime rising, government incompetence brought to a new level, lots of sleaze and now we're faced with a trillion pound's worth of debt..sends a shiver down the spine
and who was it that got the Unions into line? Thatcher..isn't it funny how Labour have not repealed one Trade Union law? Not one. Take a look at "Thatcher Election Victory" in youtube...you'll see what life was like as the 'sick man of Europe'..gravediggers going on strike? grim..very grim
but one of the main raison d'etre's of the Conservative Party is to clean up the mess left by previous Labour administrations..see 51 with Churchill and 79 with Thatcher..it is fact that there has been no Labour govt since 1930 where unemployment is lower when they go out than when they came in..it is always higher than when elected..pretty staggering stuff. Labour isn't working..AGAIN!
yes because they're doing a really good job of it at the moment!? Are you for real? We're being saddled with a trillion pound's worth of debt..we've got a PM who was according to Diane Abbott 'euphoric' recently at a meeting..the country's going down the pan, thousands losing their jobs but Brown's loving every minute of it!!?? This is the guy who savaged millions of his own voters by getting rid of the 10p tax band..just as in 1979, it will be left to the Tories to clean up the mess
My dad's a council "refuse collector" and he says that the 10% income tax band saved him "quite a bit less" than what he receives in working tax credits. It does make you wonder what the point of all the "fiscal churn" is though, even if it's usually the usual boring "low taxes at all costs" tune from the free market pioneers. Seems like the usual two party flip-flop to me -- the credit crunch started in the USA and they are just exiting a "RepublicOn" era, so how can it be all Brown's fault?
because he encouraged borrowing, borrowing and borrowing..was not in the slightest bit worried if people had personal debt they could not cope with..he never put any money for a rainy day..and now he's playing with our futures and we can look forward to tax rises..he got us into this mess and it's rather perverse that he's apparently the one to get us out of it
I love the way those horrifically incompetent Labour ministers, led by that farce of a PM, accuse the Tories of 'doing nothing' and yet steal two of their policies in the last week..how does that work? This government is a sham and is bankrupting this country..the sooner we get rid, the better
Why is "private education" is useful? State schools aren't the lawless, run-down, backwater institutions that the media would have you believe you know. Millions of children blossom and succeed in the state education system every year. I wouldn't have changed my education for the world.
NURSE!! the country was on its last legs in the late 70s..we were known as the 'sick man of Europe'..the winter of discontent..and then Thatcher came and brought it off its knees..and now we have history repeating itself..and Cameron will have to clean up the mess this horrific farce of a PM has left
Now for CHANGE? Wow! How original! CHANGE! Great! I love CHANGE! We need CHANGE! Oooh i cant wait for an election so we can vote Tory and all CHANGE together!
Give me a fucking break. That slogans been torn to shit by Obama, simply copying him demonstrates the complacency and lack of creativity the conservatives are well known for. Better think of some other spin because that aint working.
Cameron was leader of the opposition and crying out for change long before anybody had even heard of Obama. Not that change is as much of a slogan as it is a word that perfectly describes what is needed.
Of course he was. That what the leader of the Loyal Opposition's job is; to promise something different. That does'nt make the slogan any less vague i'm afraid. People know that this shit wont stick.
Firstly; Cameron's job is simply to squawk on and on, pointing fingers and arguing with half promises and vague solutions.
Secondly; what do you mean any vagueness is cleared up by listening to the add? It doesn't present any idea of how to solve Britain's debt crisis, but simply touts populist phrases and unsubstantiated claims.
Pointing fingers and shouting change doesn't fix the country, but does help Tories get into power by appealing to the uneducated.
Firstly - Essentially yes, it is, but what they're putting together seem like good workable policies for the better.
Secondly - I was a bit vague myself there. I meant that the policies are in the public domain to be examined.
"Pointing fingers and shouting change doesn't fix the country, but does help Tories get into power by appealing to the uneducated." - all true, but hopefully the further policies will attract the brighter voters.
With the job scheme and the 10 billion loan guarantee Labour adopted two Tory policies last week so that undermines your argument. Furthermore, 'appealing to the uneducated'..are you for real? Labour has been doing it since their existence..most of the 'uneducated' as you call them are more likely to be Labour voters
Which argument does it undermine? Just because an appalling government adopts some idea's from an even worse opposition is hardly the full scale 'change' promised by David. Labour have indeed been doing this for decades, but that's no excuse for the Tories to lower themselves as well.
dads nose isn't exactly the best nose if you imagine it on an adult.

forget about the debt issue - why on earth would they show a 4 WEEK OLD baby being force fed a plastic bottle?!? in a promotional video??!!

Child benefits? in poor, workless families DO NOT go to the children, they go on booze, ciggies, dvds etc.
JusticeSeeker1000 1 year ago 2
@JusticeSeeker1000
Or, if they still can't keep their underwears on, they should go out, work and earn the money.

a minium wage means nothing if Gordon Brown lumbers you with massive amounts of debt your better off on five quid an hour with a 40 k mortgage rather than 6 quid an hour and a 100k mortgage!! (labour's economic miracle)
Gordon Brown is posessed with debt ie: scrappage deal, get rid of a perfectly good brought and paid for car so you can go into debt for another one !!

Just like to point out the the Tories supported labour in bailing out the banks so part of that debt is Cameron's
Further more this economic crisis would not have happened if we worked in a non capitalist manner.

Public Pensions will NOT SUFFER AT ALL!!
Judep22 3 years ago

Bloody right. Because of labour, I'm going to be spending my life paying off money I don't owe.
warisinacan 3 years ago 4
Well that's just it; there's only ever going to be a long-term solution to this problem.
I don't understand your point about interest payments wiping out any future profit. If anything it'll be the opposite; the banks are paying interest to the Treasury on the money lent to them and also, again, in the long-term, the Treasury still owns the share capital in the companies which will be redeemed for a large profit once the economic cycle inevitably places us in a boom situation. It's win-win.
123WelshDan321 3 years ago
For the Government maybe - but it is YOU & I who will be fleeced as usual to pay the interest on behalf of the banks through ever higher charges!
BUG OFF GORDON BROWN!
Judep22 2 years ago 2
So what happens when the economy picks up, and the public stakeholding in the banking system is sold off for a ridiculous proft, probably leading to lower taxes all round?
All this titbit does is *assume* that nothing's going to change. "But nothing will under Labour" you all predictably cry. Well, take a look at the science behind economic cycles, and you'll see that there'll be an inevitable upturn where the taxpayer will reap dividends.
Short-termist reactionary bunkum is this.
123WelshDan321 3 years ago
Considering the huge amount of money the government has had to pump into the banks it is unlikely they will generate any profit on that investment at all. It will take years to do so, and in that time interest payments on the huge debts will wipe out any future profits.
If you are so sure of this then are you investing in bank shares at the moment? I'm not.

Rorxz 3 years ago
"Nice little opinion of delusion." You're the deluded one if that's your argument. Under the Tories the poorest 10% had their income cut by an average 17%, whilst the income of the richest soared. They closed 246 hospitals. By 97 we had the worst child poverty rate in the developed world. Labour dragged 1,000,000 children andpensioners out of poverty, gave us the min wage, 100 new hospitals and the gap got narrower. Whether you like it or not, it's the truth.

hugoegbert79 3 years ago
Labour have done nothing to narrow the poverty gap. On the contrary, they gave the UK a speculator's charter, and encouraged people to enrich themselves by
siphoning wealth from others rather than generating it. Want to make money in Labour's Britain? Great, buy yourself a portfolio of buy-to-lets, and get other
people to buy you some houses while you put your feet up.

TitanFind 3 years ago
How much will the taxpayer be paying if we allow unemployment to skyrocket and become long-term, as the Tories (and David Cameron as Special Advisor to the Chancellor-Norman Lamont) did in '92? And before that in the early '80s? The Tories created TWO lost generations of people who were long-term unemployed, and we've been paying ever since.

Except that the debt isn't divided equally between each person is it? It's the rich that will be paying the higher taxes, and that's what you don't like. Hi 999
We are the gun, knife, drugs, capital of europe.20000 die of infections in our hospitals every year, our children are being murderd under the noses of social services every week, and when there court they get 50percent off there sentances.
thedavewalkershow 3 years ago
The extremely bizarre letter you sent out today to all those who have complained about the bottle feeding issue, is just making matters worse. We are complaining about BOTTLE feeding issues. 4000 babies die every day from contaminated baby bottles. Sending a letter out saying breastfeeding is fine for those who choose it, is NOT THE ISSUE. This is not about breastfeeding - it's about BABY BOTTLE DEATHS. Remove the images. Listen to the very people you are stating you are trying to reach.

The country was on its knees when Thatcher came in..and was one of the world's largest thriving economies when the Tories left in 97..facts that you can't escape from..and now we've had 11 years of Labour misrule..country almost bankrupt, unemployment rising, violent crime rising, government incompetence brought to a new level, lots of sleaze and now we're faced with a trillion pound's worth of debt..sends a shiver down the spine
steps1 3 years ago
no it's not, it's the world bankers, you dummies
10mjt29 3 years ago
and who was it that got the Unions into line? Thatcher..isn't it funny how Labour have not repealed one Trade Union law? Not one. Take a look at "Thatcher Election Victory" in youtube...you'll see what life was like as the 'sick man of Europe'..gravediggers going on strike? grim..very grim

actually, I am the CEO of an international technology company the profits from which are being used to fund a new political party here in the UK
the party will formally launch after nu labour have lost the general election and will compete directly with the tories
already we are in talks with MPs from both nu lab and the tories and we will pick up a few from other parties also
don't make being wrong a career, makes you look silly if it becomes a habit
WeAreTheBrits 3 years ago
What will be the core policies of this new party?

think of nu labour, then reverse it.....
WeAreTheBrits 3 years ago
Hmm, most of the country gets their bins collected once a week it would seem, unless you meant to say once a fortnight instead...
trojjer 3 years ago
considering I am neither a member, supporter nor a voter of the tory party i think that pretty much makes the rest of your post totally redundant
WeAreTheBrits 3 years ago
but one of the main raison d'etre's of the Conservative Party is to clean up the mess left by previous Labour administrations..see 51 with Churchill and 79 with Thatcher..it is fact that there has been no Labour govt since 1930 where unemployment is lower when they go out than when they came in..it is always higher than when elected..pretty staggering stuff. Labour isn't working..AGAIN!
steps1 3 years ago
yes because they're doing a really good job of it at the moment!? Are you for real? We're being saddled with a trillion pound's worth of debt..we've got a PM who was according to Diane Abbott 'euphoric' recently at a meeting..the country's going down the pan, thousands losing their jobs but Brown's loving every minute of it!!?? This is the guy who savaged millions of his own voters by getting rid of the 10p tax band..just as in 1979, it will be left to the Tories to clean up the mess
steps1 3 years ago
My dad's a council "refuse collector" and he says that the 10% income tax band saved him "quite a bit less" than what he receives in working tax credits. It does make you wonder what the point of all the "fiscal churn" is though, even if it's usually the usual boring "low taxes at all costs" tune from the free market pioneers. Seems like the usual two party flip-flop to me -- the credit crunch started in the USA and they are just exiting a "RepublicOn" era, so how can it be all Brown's fault?
trojjer 3 years ago
because he encouraged borrowing, borrowing and borrowing..was not in the slightest bit worried if people had personal debt they could not cope with..he never put any money for a rainy day..and now he's playing with our futures and we can look forward to tax rises..he got us into this mess and it's rather perverse that he's apparently the one to get us out of it

NURSE!!!
I love the way those horrifically incompetent Labour ministers, led by that farce of a PM, accuse the Tories of 'doing nothing' and yet steal two of their policies in the last week..how does that work? This government is a sham and is bankrupting this country..the sooner we get rid, the better
steps1 3 years ago
"The Conservatives have extended their lead over Labour over the past month, according to new opinion polls. Skip
The YouGov poll put the Tories on 45 per cent, up four points on last month, 13 points ahead of Labour who were down three on 32 per cent."
looks like you lot are going DOWN DOWN DOWN at the next election....can you hear us LAUGHING at you?

"Useful stuff such a private education"
Why is "private education" is useful? State schools aren't the lawless, run-down, backwater institutions that the media would have you believe you know. Millions of children blossom and succeed in the state education system every year. I wouldn't have changed my education for the world.
forwardadam1 3 years ago
Just because state schools can produce successful people, doesn't mean private education isn't useful.
I had a state education and it was fine, but I went to a grammar school.
Many state schools are hopeless. My Mum used to work at a secondary school where kids were lucky to get maybe 2 GCSEs over C.

NURSE!! the country was on its last legs in the late 70s..we were known as the 'sick man of Europe'..the winter of discontent..and then Thatcher came and brought it off its knees..and now we have history repeating itself..and Cameron will have to clean up the mess this horrific farce of a PM has left

Better think of some other spin because that aint working.
calicheSCOT 3 years ago
Cameron was leader of the opposition and crying out for change long before anybody had even heard of Obama. Not that change is as much of a slogan as it is a word that perfectly describes what is needed.
WillB85 3 years ago
Of course he was. That what the leader of the Loyal Opposition's job is; to promise something different. That does'nt make the slogan any less vague i'm afraid. People know that this shit wont stick.
calicheSCOT 3 years ago
I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at.
Change is needed. The ad states that. Any vagueness is cleared up by listening to how it will change.
WillB85 3 years ago
Firstly; Cameron's job is simply to squawk on and on, pointing fingers and arguing with half promises and vague solutions.
Secondly; what do you mean any vagueness is cleared up by listening to the add? It doesn't present any idea of how to solve Britain's debt crisis, but simply touts populist phrases and unsubstantiated claims.
Pointing fingers and shouting change doesn't fix the country, but does help Tories get into power by appealing to the uneducated.
That's what i'm getting at.
calicheSCOT 3 years ago
Firstly - Essentially yes, it is, but what they're putting together seem like good workable policies for the better.
Secondly - I was a bit vague myself there. I meant that the policies are in the public domain to be examined.
"Pointing fingers and shouting change doesn't fix the country, but does help Tories get into power by appealing to the uneducated." - all true, but hopefully the further policies will attract the brighter voters.
WillB85 3 years ago
With the job scheme and the 10 billion loan guarantee Labour adopted two Tory policies last week so that undermines your argument. Furthermore, 'appealing to the uneducated'..are you for real? Labour has been doing it since their existence..most of the 'uneducated' as you call them are more likely to be Labour voters
steps1 3 years ago
Which argument does it undermine? Just because an appalling government adopts some idea's from an even worse opposition is hardly the full scale 'change' promised by David. Labour have indeed been doing this for decades, but that's no excuse for the Tories to lower themselves as well.
calicheSCOT 3 years ago
Is the bottle-feeding used to show that this baby is starting out life with what is obviously not the best? Hence the slogan, "They deserve better"?

Have to say, I've just emailed them to point that out
