This video is old. The A40 audio system comes with everything you need for your ps3. You also don't need the battery pack since the USB will always be plugged in.

I love my astros, they're amazing. But honestly, the rechargable batteries are a waste of $20, just plug them in. The batteries dont work at all anymore and I've had them for less than 2 years.

@Mezecs Great advice. I got the Chinese Amazon.com cable you are talking about and it works perfectly with my astro mixamp.  I was really doubtful that a 97 cent cable would work so I got two and they both work!

Ha and guess what for all you a40 haters. The a40 is way more comfortable than any other headset has better sound and has surround sound even for listening to your iPod music, it can connect to the pc, my point is there is no other headset that can do all that most of them are just built so they can work with xbox like every turtle beach. Turtle beaches can't do all that so screw your x11's

I owned the TRITTON AX PRO for a good time and yes the 2010 version and I also own a pair of ASTRO A40 system. The TRITTONs were good but the ASTRO A40's are way better. Better cleaner sound and much much more comfort when wearing them for a good gaming session. I love things

being simple and on that note I hated having to turn off my PS3 and then having to manually turn off my TRITTONS. My ASTRO A40's turn off on there own when I power down my PS3. sometimes it's the little things you love.

@killzone005 To use the HDMI port u need a HDMI cable with an optical input and you also need the Astro optical cable wich you put in the HDMI optical input.

@killzone005 yes you can still use you're HDMI cable. You will have to enable you're ps3's audio output too optical cable. This will no change you're video settings so the answer is yes. One thing though is that you cannot plug you're HDMI directly into the mixamp so the HDMI will only be used for Video. Another thing too keep in mind is that you cannot use right and left stereo cables and HDMI at the same time, this means if you wish to use HDMI for just audio you must use an Optical cable.

u need a TOs link cable to go from the back of ps3 optical link port to the amp, and then of course the amp will hook up to the headphones.

by the way if u need a tos link cable go to monoprice, their cables are waaaay better and they are cheaper. also look into the xtra long cable if u sit far from your ps3. if not just having

Yea Astros are amazing! I bought the package that includes the Mix amp and the headset. I only had one problem with the wire that goes from the mix amo to the controller, so I couldnt hear my friends well. I just got a new one for free, from Astro.

Turtle Beach Headsets are in no way garbage. They are an absolutely amazing headset, considering the price. $60 will get you the competitive edge/ experience you want and can afford.

Astros are incredibly pricey, but if you really want to invest an extra 200 dollars on an astro, you can experience a true dolby digital surround sound experience.

Call me cheap, but ill stick to the great consumer grade quality of my Turtle Beach Headset.
