It seems difficult to believe that Robert Wadlow, who stood about 8'11.75", would not wrap totally around Hughes' body. Just eyeballing the two, it seems like Wadlow would certainly have enough height to clear the girth of Robert Earl's body. But, apparently not.

My dad actually knew this guy. Hughes is from Fishhook IL and my dad was born in Baylis, another little town right nearby in Pike Co. IL. I guess about everybody in the community knew him. I remember Dad telling me about this guy when I was a kid -- interesting video.
