  • that doesnt look astetecially presentable ,lol

  • So if I'm understanding this corerectly you have the Z64 running games off a HDD rather than optical media? If this is true can I ask you where I would find information on getting this going myself?

  • W t f is that monster? And what were yoou doing with the buttons better question what he crap is it

  • @TheWachong And don't say an N64

  • @TheWachong Read the title.

  • @TFfreak194 I did and I don't know what that means

  • I ask this as a confused old man, not as a grumpy old man. Whats the point?

  • haha the sound of this hard disk is very familiar...

  • Is that podracer??! holy cr^&*ap thats fun.

  • its and ass raped nintendo

  • I don't know what this is, but it sucks. Is it really that blurry, or do you have no idea how to use a camera?

  • all my money.

  • ew

  • cool mod brah

  • @TheWorldAtlus

What mod? This is a gold Nintendo 64 sold at Toys R Us, and a gold backup device. These are off-the-shelf devices.

  • SHOW OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice. In the near future I'm turning my N64 gold

  • nice! now I need a z64 to mod :P

  • Oh My Gosh. I want.

I have a clear grey(clear charcoal). What am I looking at for one of these?

  • @TeasingTeddy - just listed one, send me a message!

  • Where can I buy this?

  • Can't have an opinion these days fucking hell grow up end of this pointless conversation

  • THat is... AWESOME!

  • I didn't know you could put a hard drive in the Z64. I'll need to look into that because the only thing I hated about the Z64 was the Zip drive. I wonder if mine will even work, I've had it in storage for over 6 years.

  • Nice setup, but shouldn't you have a Gold Zelda cart in the slot?! :P

  • nah bro u made that urself fuckface it doesnt even look like a n64 origial with gold so therfore u made it up . FAKE

  • @jaxmuthafuk1 it is. it does look like an n64, you idiot, look at the bottom the base of the system and you'll see. the big bulky thing on top is a z64.

  • @MrIlleagle99 okay well maybe that thing ontop looks like non-nintendo shit and u dnt notice its been added. But then what is that big z64 thing ontop that certainly makes the n64 SO HUGE and crap looking.

  • More videos of this please.

  • Can you upload back to a cartridge?

  • @GTTeancum You absolutely can NOT, a cartridge is a ROM, which is read only memory.

  • thats kick ass. where did you get this? or did you make it urself? im very impressed.

  • can you used roms from the internet if you already have the game, but don't feel like dumping it yourself?

  • where do you find that model??

  • How much are the gold ones worth now? With 2 gold controllers. I have one that my Dad bought for me when I was like 8. Wasn't a big video game but and I still am not much of one, and this system was literally played 2 times.

  • @EllysaE i give you 50.00

  • @whitefreak64 50 ... I dug around ebay and I do not accept your offer :P

  • @EllysaE i know its worth around 300

  • @whitefreak64 hmm I'll have to search for the box in storage and keep it in good condition then take it to antiques roadshow in like 60 yrs :D

  • @EllysaE yeh i have a mint gold n64 withh 2 gold controllers and 2 gold zelda games, they are gonna be worth alot in the next 10+ years!

  • @EllysaE lol, then what, die the next day? your kids are gonna kill eachother for that money because you thought it'd be a good idea to wait to cash in until you're on your deathbed! Imagine how that would make you feel... O.o

    ... now I feel bad... ;--;

  • @icannotfalter I won't have children.

  • I can't believe none of this shit ever caught on

  • Is it true that one could purchase Mr. Back-up Z64 and V64 Doctor, at the store during the popularity of the Nintendo 64? [=

  • @TheSanguineOne Yes you could. In fact, last night in a tips and tricks TM magazine, I was looking at an ad for a z64 in the magazine!

  • @9h9a9lo3 That's really cool! Z64s seem like fantastic gadgets for backing games.

  • wow

  • looks gorgeous to me :-)

  • fuckin nice

  • wered you get that thing xD

  • I donno what it is but it looks awesome xD

  • *whipes drool off mouth*

  • coole sache technisch bestimmt geil......aber der is ja noch größer als das original......könntest bei sony anfangen!!! die werden auch immer größer!!

  • So can you play the backed-up .z64 files on you Nintendo 64 using this machine?

  • It looks pink

  • mbit isnt mbyte... the largest n64 games are 512mbit (64 mbyte) and the smallest 64mbit (8mbyte). On a 100mb zip disk is store for 6-10~ games, on a 2gb hdd 60-100

  • on a 2gb hdd 120-200~ games

  • oh god i remember this....i used to dream of owning one...so expensive back then.

  • N64 piracy. Didn't think that was possible, except for emulators.

  • spray paint?

  • How many games can you fit on a 2gb HDD?

  • So, N64 games weights like 32, 16 or 8MB generally, so on 100MB free space you can record 3-6 games, so say, you can record 4 games on 100MB of free space, so 4* 20 (20 * 100 ~ 2GB) = 80, so you can record over 80 games on this HDD :) .

  • Most N64 games were between 64mb and 256mb (most just under 128mb)

so on 2000mb around 10-15 or so i'd say.

  • WHAT??? Most games for N64 are between 8MB and 32MB. Maximum size of the cartridge is 64MB, but I only saw 2 game that weights 64MB: Pokemon Stadium 2...... Wikipedia says the maximum size of the cartridge is 64MB so I'm right......

  • So why do you need a 256mb upgrade to play most of the games on it?

  • just because wikipedia says its right doesnt mean it is MaarioS, next time source something which isnt controlled by random peoples opinions.

  • So, why I have got N64 roms on my PC that are between 8MB and 32MB??? Download any N64 rom from random ROM site and they are between 8 and 32MB (sometimes 64MB)......

  • because they are compressed? Idiot

  • you are idiot..... So, we must ask this question to MisterXausDE , how many games could fit this 2GB HDD.....

  • Pokemon Stadium 2 and Conker's Bad Fur Day, I think Majora's Mask is pretty close up there as well.

  • (mouth hits floor)........where in the hell was I for this?!

  • Being born or being young.

    Alternatively, being ignorant.

  • wow you sound like you have alot of pent up rage dude.

yeah because everyone I knew had a solid gold add on that could burn games....go fuck youself!

  • Lol, what? wow you sound like you have alot of pent up rage dude.

  • whats a Z64?

  • It's like a Doctor V64

  • It's an N64 rom emulator. It reads files (N64 games) from a zip-drive (or in this case a harddrive) and transfear the data to a built-in memory. This makes the N64 believe that there's a cartridge inserted and enables you to play the game.

  • @arceus9000 A Z64 is a device that you can either backup N64 games, or have games downloaded from the computer, which uses ZIP diskettes, which were the chiz back then. However, if I got one, I can put a 250GB HDD in the thing and have a lot of N64 ROMs.

  • @WinVistaUser2 I dont think a 250 gb would even work I'd just stick to a 2 gb

  • @arceus9000 File format

  • @arceus9000 google z64

  • @arceus9000 Zelda 64

  • @arceus9000 Lets you backup your cartridges to a Zip Disk (CD-R's work too) and play them from those. If you're familiar with emulators, you find the extension of some roms as Z64 or V64, the Z64 extension means that the rom was made from that Z64 unit, if it's V64, it came from a similar unit called the Doctor V64.

  • @PIKACHU49386 very informative post. never know that. id like to see this post at the top with at least 30 thumbs up so everyone will see it!

  • @arceus9000 Google is your friend.

  • @arceus9000 A backup device for the n64.

  • i just modded my 64...its silver with blue stuff

  • it uses ZIP disks. remember those? they were 100megs?

  • thats cool. where did you get it?

  • WTF!!!!! holy **** what is the top thing for?

  • It's a Z64, they allow you to run games off of an internal hard drive, rather than off the carts themselves.

  • i had a gold N64......AHHH the memories

  • so did i lol gold

  • I don't want to be "one of those guys"

but that machine is sexy! lol

  • With this, you can put about 8 nintendo 64 games or more onto one cd.

  • youd put like 50 on a CD

  • Were you got n64 hdd?

  • It's a doctor v 64. You can look on ebay but i dont think you can find one...

  • only gold nintendo stuff i have is zelda majoras mask colectors edition.

  • same. I prefer the normal colour of 64

  • its backs up ur game u have one in and it lets u play all the backed up games u can get the rom files online

  • The N64 is not self paited, it's orig. Nintendo.

  • It is cool though but are you thinking of making it a different colour like something metallic it would give it a better look and putting some LED's in it's still awesome dude

  • @xDeMoNiCReaPeRx u kidding me tht looks sick

  • you should type more no offense more often in your offensive comments

  • @xDeMoNiCReaPeRx haha its a original limited edition color released by Nintendo! Fool =)

  • @xDeMoNiCReaPeRx why don't you just go back underneath your bridge

  • For those who don't know what this is, it copies the games from the cartridges and converts them for play on your PC.

  • what is this on a cardrige??

  • Nintendo 64 game cartridge backup unit designed to store your game images on Zip Diskettes.

  • very rare piece of hardware =D

  • that thing scares me...

  • what it do more ?

  • cooling the console and better core/processor

  • no, it downloads rom images from game cartridges inserted into the Z64 to its harddisk.

  • What's happening in this vid?

  • whatis the second thing i now n64

  • man... if ANYone can find where to buy a z64 , doctor 64 or other back up system... please private message me.

    p.s. awesome mod and vid!

  • i have one i dont even use anymore.. if you would like to buy or traind let me know thanks

  • ...I'll take it, please email me!

    cheers!

  • That is soo great! I wish I had 1 of those :P

  • If anybody has one, i would be interested in buying it. Prefer a gold one, {Please email me and let me know :)

  • z64?? WTF??

  • basically, a hardware n64 emulator. you load images on to it and it plays it on the n64, like a ripped ps2 cd.

  • you are my idol lol

  • So now I know a Z64 exists...

  • What i want to know is wat it does

  • you can backup your n64 games on zip or harddrive to play later or other stuff like that

  • Of COURSE they do, the greater majority of ripped ROMs are ripped from Z64 units.

  • DO WANT!!

  • i have one for sell if you want it..

  • O RLY?

    Where? :)

  • got it from one of my friends on the net. it works really well, roms anyone? lol..

  • Hmm... Put it up on a production website...

  • put what on a website roms? cant do that.. but you can pm me :-)

  • Lol, Ebay :P

    Where you live anyway?

I'm in Bristol, but travel around the country every 2 Saturdays during the football season.

  • OMG WANT!

I never knew such a thing existed. I knew about the Super UFO and 64DD disk drives for the SNES and N64 respectively, but I didn't know there was an actual hard drive addon for the N64 that played backups. That is sooo....sweet!

  • Cool Video,

I'm from the Netherlands. I also have the Z64 with a 8 Gb laptop harddrive. All the N64 games are on it even some homebrew and more.

I have two Z64 so I am planning to sell one. I think I'm going to paint the Z64, N64 and controllers gold and than sell it. Are people intereted in a Z64?

  • ebay

  • they dont sell them on ebay.. well, us verson dont anyways. thanks

  • Echt Mr.X du bist ja ein krasser Bastler XD

  • what is that?

  • The most beautiful Z64 I ever seen !

I saw recently that a new 2.20 bios does exist, it allows the use of compact flash on the Z64. Did you try it ?

The 64 is gold ok, but the Z ? Did you paint it ?

Also, the LCD looks different than mine, please tell me here or by PM how you do that.

    Thanks a lot :)

  • Hi, me english is bad so sry.

Yes i paint it, the Name of the Color is: "Mercedes-Benz champagner met. MB 473 B mettalic" It looks 99,9% like the orig. gold N64.

Btw, the Gold N64 is a PAL one. ^^ I change the Electronic Parts. *g*

No i don't use the 2.2 Bios, because i have'n 8GB HDD insert, and..... i don't need more space, so....

I inverted the Display. The Dark Parts off the Display look brightly, and the brightly look dark.
