    ugh i miss running. every day, i tell myself i'm going to run, or walk my dog, or just do more exercises..but it hardly ever happens!

    i'm not overweight (i have put on some pounds though), it's just i'm not as active as i used to be, and i'm really missing it--plus i want to be comfortable in my clothes again...so there you go!

  • I have been walking/running/jogging 4 miles five days a week.Also a healthy eating plan as well.I hope to see results by early July.Watching your vid makes me excited about exercising lol thanks~

  • Wow, 6 miles! Congrats! When I could run that far, I was never able to enjoy it like you do. But then, I wasn't doing it because I wanted to, but because I HAD to. You make it sound like such a wonderful experience! You're going to have everybody running soon!!

  • Awesome! I cant wait for my first 10k on July 4. I normally only run during the week but I went out just for fun on Saturday, it's getting weird.

  • Congrats on signing up for your first 10k!! I had a total blast at mine and I was by myself, so you will have a great time with a friend! I am currently looking for a race to run. I am working towards running my second half marathon, so I was to do small races in between for fun! It's hard to find races close to where I am though! I keep looking though! LOL! Anyways, that meditative state you are talking about is called "runner's high" and it is fabulous!! LOL!

  • One thing I do miss about the treadmill is running at fast speeds (not sure what the conversion from AUS to US is). When you run at 15 and you feel your middle body and head straighten and its just your legs moving, it is one of the best feelings. YAY for running

    a) I was thinking about signing up for a 10k. I hesitated though and I couldnt pin point it. This video gave me the extra push to go back and sign up.

    b) I had a massive 3 hour discussion with a friend today about The Moment. Learning to identify it and being happy with it. So glad you talked about this.

  • i used to run quite a bit too.. somehow as i got busier and busier i stopped. you've just described exactly how great running feela... i'm definetely going tstart running again.

  • when i look at the time, miles and calories also I try to match the time with the calories and miles sometimes like.

    If Ive done 3 miles, I want to see, 300 calories bured and 30min. If I haven't seen either one of those I workout unitl its the same or over.

    It's weird but that just me. lol

  • You should try Native American flute music or pow wow music. it's very empowering. I swing nunchakus(nunchuks) to it and shadow box/kickbox to it and I'm very focused, and being part Native American(Taos Pueblo) as I am, it just fills me up with so much pride of have that side to me, that's my warrior side. It allows me to be very determined to accomplish anything that I do. great experience. Keep it up, brave one. For the journey is never over. =)

  • wtg shayshay ^.^ This morning (I live in Australia so only 7 30am here) I had my healthiest start in a very long time, and I've been doing aerobics to start off with everyday for the week (Going to do it for 3 weeks to form the habit). Off to buy a few pears also hehe. Good job and thank you so much for your inspiration!

  • I have been working out more often, but my problem is that after I work out, I am incredibly hungry and I go and eat the calories I just burned. What do you do after you work out? Do you have any suggestions? Good job by the way. It is great to get in that "zone" it's so hard to get there! So good job!

  • Eat less before you work out, and eat smart - meaning high-protein and complex carbohydrates. Then after you work out you can eat more and still not go over in calories.

  • Awesome job on increasing your speed. How long did it take you to get to that speed? ive been doing 3.2-4.0 and ive been doing this since november of last year. id love to go faster and push myself harder, but i dont have a HRM and i am scared. Haha.

  • It took me about three months of really pushing it... after having run at 3.5 for like 6 months. I recommend interval training to slowly increase your overall speed and endurance.

  • Absolutely you should not run on a sprained ankle - it will throw you out of whack all over the place, not just that leg :S You MUST allow yourself to heal properly. Perhaps swimming with an ankle brace would help while you wait?

  • I know Its been 8 weeks and its soo frustrating..(it was a really bad sprain pretty sure i tore the ligament) I just want to run again.. I'm all pumped up to kick butt at the gym .. and then i have to hold myself back.. ahhh .. thanks

  • Very Motivational :o) I have to zone out like that and consentrate on something other than numbers too when i run intervals.. I really try to focus on my breathing Nice breath in and LONG BREATH OUT .. Nice breath in and LONG BREATH OUT. It really helps keep you calm and able to run longer.. But i think i over did it this week with the running my Sprained Ankle is killing me and that same leg is Cramping I think its from me trying to protect it in a way when i run. But i'm so exited to RUN!

  • I really want to get to that point. Where running is a form of meditation. I'm working on a program off of itunes which is free called podrunner intervals. And they have it where they program the music to get from just starting to a 5k and they also have one for a 10K you may want to check into it. I'm sure it'll help ya get even closer to your goals of running a 10K :)

  • WTG!!! When I get "in the zone" there is no other better feeling! I wish I could do it all the time but I am not always focused enough. Are you still adding calories when you run or do you still stay around 1300-1400 calories per day not matter what level of activity you do?

  • It depends on the day. I'll take a 1000 calorie deficit if I can, but often times I just need more food, and so stick with just a 500 deficit (eating more) when I run.

  • I'm soo envious! I used to enjoy running, and I was good at it too. But my lifestyle changed and I stopped doing it and got rusty. I'd LOVE to enjoy it again and experience that meditation. Shanti you have a TON of vids. Do you have a vid that solely covers how you've built the momentum of changing your lifestyle to become healthier? I'm going to search thru the titles too, but if you could tel me the vid title, that'd be GREAT! Or you don't have one, pls pls pls consider making one:)

  • I think it great you are starting to run. I am trying to get up the nerve. I am turning 50 this year and trying to get up the nerve to run in front of the neighbors. I know once I start it will come easier. But you are becoming an inspiration to me.

  • You can do it! I have been running for a year now, off and on, and regularly for the last 2 months. You will get there, too - you just have to start and then stick with it ;)

  • There really is something to the runners high! Great running realizations here and great progress. Congrats on picking a 10K! I did one on March 1st. Next up a 10 miler then a 1/2 marathon. Speed is a hard thing to work on for me. It just happens. I always run faster during a race also. The energy at a race is pretty amazing. Keep going! Tom

  • Good for you! I ran my first 4k the other night. I had a terrible time of almost 37 minutes though (a bit of walking...) Tonight I will try 4k non-stop with a time under 30 minutes. Then in a few weeks I will do a 5k for the first time in my life.
