i experienced the original youtube audio and it was amazing...it was taken down for some time for reasons unknown(unexplained)...i grew up with john paul jones and admire him to this day (40 years later)
I just realizes this sounds similar to Rag Doll by Aerosmith, especially the vocal phrasing. Probably an unconscious influence when these guys wrote this song, or the vocals anyway...
@ivanaratoPlease don't insult me. There's a big difference between simple and tasteful. These guys have neither. it's just bashing as hard as you can. That's not simple. Charlie Watts is simple but brilliant.
@rcskins You say that, But he wouldnt be there if he didnt think something of the three of them..... And as JPJ opinion matters more to me than a saddact on youtube then i'd say JPJ is doing nicely where he is right now for another couple of months till TCV finishes.
@Jept That's fine, it's your opinion. I'm just from an era when you had to be of a certain caliber to be up there. It's the equivelant of reality stars versus true actors who've studied their craft. Grohl himself says he's "a dummy when it comes to the craft and technique and that he doesn't ever practice". It's an insult to those out there who are serious about the instrument and spend countless hours honing their craft but will never get a shot..
Yikes, what a terrible mix... I'm sorry, but the extra player can't hold a candle to any of the other players and actually brings them down on this song. (His slide playing is less than adequate) For a super group, they could atleast get a super extra.
@srob1022 You've misunderstood my comment. I'm saying the problem is that they've got someone who isn't quite up to par with the other players. Not once did I mention that I, individually, am capable of fulfilling their needs, so your response is pretty off-target. But I am a musician, and I am not deaf, and I can have my opinion of who's playing a part well..Don't attack me with irrellevant points.
@ohgarboy No, I think you've misunderstood my comment. Having seen him with both QOTSA and TCV, I think he's a competent musician who can hold his own. In this clip, he is trying to capture a sound JPJ laid down that few, if any, could reproduce. To call him sub-standard to the other musicians based on a challenge few could meet is unfair.
@srob1022 Well that's okay, I respect that. But you must remember that everyone's entitled to their own opinions. You took it upon yourself to put it back on me personally, because you don't agree. If you don't agree, that's that. Just need to say exactly what you said in the previous post... Not attack someone on a personal level. and on a similar note- don't be a jerk. It was a typo. The two l's aren't terribly obvious on my current display setup.
@ohgarboy Um, I think you and I have VERY different definitions of "attack on a personal level". But I do respect that you're entitled to your opinion. You dismissed a musician on one specific example without considering his body of work. To me, that's more of a 'personal attack' than my response was.
And if you think pointing out a spelling error makes me a jerk, well, I respect your opinion on that as well, but respectfully disagree. I'm grateful when someone points out my typos to me,
@ohgarboy It's all good...I'm glad SOME of us can actually have a conversation here without descending into whatever it is these days that passes for debate. Thanks for civil and reasoned discussion!
@srob1022 Yeah, you reminded me of something very important... That I was doing exactly what I was requesting you not to do to me. Yikes. Not sure how that slipped under the radar, but thanks not letting me go on so foolishly. It really is a shame that some youtube viewers more than often debate with principles of argument, rather than simple logic... No matter. Cheers.
@ohgarboy If you're up for it, you should check out that "extra player's" music. Alain Johannes... "Spark", his tribute to his partner Natasha Shneider, who died of cancer, is sublime. And "Time for Miracles" (Adam Lambert), which he co-wrote, ain't bad.

they are a great band. The album takes some time to sink in,but it sticks with you, cant wait for the 2010 album. Remember in the early days Zeppelin could nt get much backing from USA either. Best Ive heard in a long while !! my .02

For being such accomplished awesome musicans (especially john paul jones) they really should have come up with something better than this...... this isn't bad but not worth listening to!
Yes, sir. After an interview, they keep the camera rolling and he says that he's going to re-release the album and do a tour of those songs, plus bonus track (The Bronze, etc...).
No mention of Nick. Maybe some day, because anything can happen... One day, I'd like to see "You Would Know" performed with Nick, because Nick gets all fucked up and does a creepy robot.

i actually enjoyed the WHOLE album, something about it just stands out miles apart from anything else out there, except maybe "Queens of the Stone Age" this track is a personal fave

they are a great band.

I guess you've listened through the whole record, but if not: this is one of the weakest tracks on the record.

It's a solid song, it's just not what their listeners are accustom to. Technically/musically, it's solid and well delivered. I like it.
