You have to fill them up to the point just before the fuel begins to pool. If I fill them too much, I tip them and dump out the excess.
They still overflow on me at times, but the mess doesn't go beyond the fuel tray holder any more.
As much as they've got shortcomings, I've hardly built anything significantly better to this point, and still use them in a pinch because Esbit is just nasty.
Thanks. Unfortunately I underestimated the fuel reserve. It doesn't burn for more than 6 minutes or so, I'd say. I've got video of it running to upload, but am having difficulties with flame control and wick life. I might see if it can be converted to a vapourizing burner. It's also proving to be very touchy in the overflow-make-a-flaming-mess department. Still, it's a first attempt ;)
