Ivan Ditmars was the music composer for all of the 1970-76 episodes of the nighttime LMAD, I especially dig the music he created live just for zonks, funny sounding and always gets me giggling nonstop, that unmistakeable piano opening (my favorite part) tells everyone that a zonk was behind the curtain or the wall of Turtle Wax or $50 worth of Eskimo Pies.
Timeless, and priceless. RIP, Ivan, we still enjoy your work even now, the music used for today's LMAD on CBS doesn't even come close.
@AK47Music oops! typo alert! I meant to say "adorable" when referring to those ever-so-cute (and they are adorable aren't they? :) ) dogs in the "do-it yourself Dog Catchers' Kit" that appeared at 2:36 of this clip of classic LMAD zonks/un-restored classic cars.
dude, those cadillacs were worth more than the crappy 70's cadillacs. Even that Packard is awesome! The cadillacs of the 70's are now hoodrides rollin though detroit, and LA, or spinnin on 24's, as in what the blacks call "Donks". Haha, kinda ironic.
@sketchyinc Monty was always looking pimp out in those vintage 1970s Botany 500 suits he wore at every taping of the original (1971-77) run of the nighttime version on LMAD, and yes, check google for those 1937 Packards and the 1947 (mislabeled 1939 on the show) and 1957 Cadillacs (like that convertible) in fully-restored condition. THEY ARE PIMP!!!
Man I would have taken that 54 caddy convertible any day they are worth a mint now in any shape that was not a Zonk Car in any means ! In just a few years after that shiw they were way up in value.
As a passionate Volkswagen enthusiast and proud owner of a 1999 Mark IV New Beetle and a 1963 Split-Window Bus, I got a kick out of that "one-horsepower car" lol, a vintage 1963 Beetle in baby blue, I would've taken it, brought it home with me, and call the nearest shop and start restoring it right away.
Poor VW, another one of their classics gets butchered by Monty Hall and the rest of the LMAD crew, I know it's all in good fun, but Monty, you oughta be ashamed of yourself for doing that.
@AK47Music He was able to do it so well for a good number of years too. He made a couple of appearances on Wayne Brady's version too, so it goes too show that even at the age of 90 he still has the urge to tempt people like this.
@COSANOSTRA2OO8 yeah, me too. I liked the packard too. I know it was worth more than $2,000 what that lady won! I liked the 59 cadillac too. It was rust free too!!!!
@willyboi708 From what I've read, they were legally obligated to award the Zonks if the contested wanted them(though most elected to receive a small consolation prize after the taping).
@ncmountaingal1960 i would rather have those than any kind of pile of junk that they make today that is out on the streets, that's for sure !!!! one can NOT pay me to own a car, truck, or van today, because they're nothing but junk.
@56BUICKRiviera No it is not, it would've had clear "bullet"-style turn signals next to each of the horn grills if it was, but since it had the clear lenses instead of amber ones on each fender and a larger rear window, I believe that Beetle is a circa-1958-1963. Poor VW, yet another classic air-cooled VW gets butchered by Monty Hall and the LMAD crew.
BTW, does anybody have footage of the "two-horsepower" car, a vintage Type III wagon (Squareback or Variant) that they also had as a zonk? lol
