  • Music would never be what is today if it weren't for schoenberg, pure genius.

  • Schoenberg was clearly a troubled man, but his genius trumps his personal issues. I love all of his music!

  • Da hat auch meine Musik Lehrerin mitgemacht ^^

  • Oh, wonderful wonderous music!

  • The ending is, by far, one of Schoenberg's most moving musical statements. Moses returns from the mountain to find the Hebrews have adopted a false god, an idol, and he destroys the commandments God gave him. In the end, he sits alone and decries his lack of the ability to move people with an image. All he possesses is the idea and God's commandments. His final words, "Oh Words, that I lack" is perhaps the saddest moment in the opera, and the place where he stopped. Soon, he would leave Germany

  • it is all? 20 minutes? i know this is an unfinish opera... ok tnks for posting

  • Schoenberg. Is. Weird.

Genius, but weird. (Not as painful as Webern though, IMO.)

  • Thanks for posting this, the music of this Yuga! (Kali Yuga)

  • Thank you very much for posting. The only version I have listened to is Gielen's recording for Phillips in 1974, Schoenberg's centennary. Beautiful.

  • it might take years (!) for a choire fo rehearse it adequate. There is no ratio between effort and effect. But my favorite Moses is John Tomlinson. When he sings, I always think the end of the world is near..

  • I saw this at the Met about 3-4 years ago, and it moved me profoundly. Thanks for making it available to be seen.

  • I saw this the last time I was in Vienna. I had heard this opera only once before, and I must admit it doesn't really say much to me. It was a well deserved triumph though! I really like Moser's voice, Gatti was amazing and the choir nothing less than flawless. I loved the golden calf scene! A very good show indeed, thanks for sharing.
