It was pointless because maybe in the second world war, leaders knew aircraft carriers and planes are the most powerfull weapons. Yamato was a prove for that. The biggest Battleship in WW2 sanked by planes! Fakt... But i like playing games for WW2 because of those ships

Where did they get the design for that ship? The super yamato didn't look like that at all. It had two triple turrets forward and none aft.

I would compare a fight between the Yamato with its more powerful guns and the Montana with its ability to fire "over the shoulder and its superior radar and fire control to a gunfight between someone armed with one .44 Magnum and one with two .357 Magnums, and who can shoot equally well with both hands. One has the more powerful weapon, while the other can bring more accumulative firepower to bear and a better chance of hitting his target. It would have been interesting to see.

The germans had blue prints drawn up for a battleship, The H44 class that would have dwared the super yamato. All countries during WW2 that had the recources had plans for bigger and more powerful battleships etc but none ever saw the light of day due to the success of the aircraft carrier.

@Shuttheheckup735 I believe it's also been pointed out that Hitler would have done better for himself and for Germany if he had taken the materials used for building battleships like the Bismarck and Tirpitz and had built more U-Boats. Of course, even he had said that "at sea, I am a coward" and pretty much left Raeder and Doenitz alone to run that part of the war.

@SLAW3LL Actually, that is false. There has never been a battleship named for the state of Montana. There was a class of ship that got scrapped before they could be constructed --of which Montana was to be the namesake and the lead ship-- because of the constraints of the naval treaty after WWI.

There was a cruiser in WWI, which was renamed the Missoula, and there was also a cargo ship in the same war, but it was sunk. It's a bit of a thorn in the side for us Montanans that we've never had a capital ship named for the state, especially considering the ship that was under construction in WWII would very likely have been the deadliest battleship ever constructed.

like the number 1 rule of ship battles-if you are controling it do not let the AI use the artilery unless the ship you are facing is weak compared to yours. I took down 4 ships with the super yamato when I was controling the artilery

@TheBassanova Yes you are correct. The Yamato Class had the three triple 18.1 inch main heavy naval gun turrets. The Super Yamato Class was designed to be armed with three double or twin 20.1 inch main heavy naval gun turrets. 20.1 inch main heavy naval guns would have a slower rate of fire and more difficulty to be accurately aimed at a fast moving and random maneuvering target, than the 18.1 inch guns, which would necessitate that the 20.1 inch guns be target acquisition radar fire controlled.

@knickknock4 The Montana had superior fire control to the Super Yam. IE: it could hit the Yammy from further away with much better accuracy. Fire power is only as good as your ability to use it faster and more accurately than your opponent. Don't be such a wanker about it.

The reloading time is much to quick. Try loading 18 inch shells using reletativly slow moving magazines
