I downloaded SETI@home by downloading BOINC, it manages much more than just SETI, your computer can help from mapping the Milky Way galaxy in 3D to analysing protein sequences, and yes it's a good screensaver too. Best for people with top of the line PCs.

What makes you think they want to talk to us with sounds. Maybe they want to talk with pictures. Just astral project to them and ask.... Ok so I have way to much out of body time... but I want to know things.  I am supposed to be doing a Quantum Time travel book... guide... but.... Ok so I wonder.

Why don't you just go out of body astral project to where the type of aliens you want to talk with are. Sit down close your eyes hold out your right hand (old indian trick) and ask to Talk. You listen they show you pictures in their heads and emotions and feelings.  Then they give you "space" alien joke... to talk with them but how many humans talk in pictures in their heads? Most use words that don't communicate a lot.

it looking for intelligent patterns. So even if it's in a code or beyond us it will still have a unnatural pattern too it. i still think they should scan tachyon particulars and such for it too as they faster traveled and can escape black holes

@jiggerypokery123 Yes the real point is that if we are still primitives then we talk like primitives. Any race that can go FTL and can talk FTL too. As the FTL talking most likely comes before traveling that fast. So remember think outside the Box their is plenty ideas how too talk FTL Quantum particles would have no time delay.

@starknight97 Ah yes i see what your saying! The fact is I am inclined to agree with you, but if we constantly put our plans on hold and wait for the next thing to develop before acting, we will get no where.

What if tachyon manipulation proves to be truly impossible? We cant even detect them at present let alone communicate with them, so why wait till then?

Optics is no good, ET would need to know where earth will be by the time light arrives at it to sent us a message. Its a big assumption

The fact is in seti they have been talking about closing the door.then we're only looking on slow radio waves yet. theirs a huge long world of communications we have too look at.

I joined this yesterday but im a little confused. It made me get a program called bionc with a ton of things in it, so i picked seti from the list. Its been running processes on my PC and some say complete. The seti home website says to enter a berkley url when prompted. I was never prompted. And i have no button that says Send Data to Berkley or whatever.

@Celly222 hey, you did automatically use the berkley url when u clicked on SETI@HOME, and u dont have to send any datas to berkley, everything will run automatically, just control wether your multi beam recorder is running or not...if it works, you are a part of the SETi@HOME program :)

I got SETI@home about 2 days ago & not too long ago tonight while observing it, the red bars went insane just like in this video but the frequency graph at the bottom became larger until each color was a full solid block with different heights. I apologize for my lack of knowledge but what does that mean? Did the seti program detect a signal???

no its probably just a pulsar or some huge berst of energy if there was a signal nothing would have much of a bar but 1 section that would be solid

The 'we should solve all our problems on Earth before looking to space' argument is a complete cop out. There have always been problems on Earth and there always will be. We, as an 'intelligent' race, would have to be pretty stupid to concentrate only on our tiny insignificant speck of a planet and ignore the fact that there is an entire Universe surrounding it!

The SETI program is not funded by the US government anymore. So it is only a win situation that this program is running and scientist are willing to spent their proffesional skills searching for contact. Now that there is a satelite looking for Earth like planets they will soon have something to aim their disks on.

it tell u that u posibily get a "potential" signal, then u send it to them....i foud one..and they were pulsars!

the program clientis coded for that, if the program saw a posible signal, it send it at seti@home server marked as possible one, then they make a rigorous test to it.Also it tells u "we got a possible signal, send it to us inmediatly?" and that's it
