  • nice use of side control to knee-ride then to the step over armbar..I'm often in this position but now I don't have to wait for my opponent to push on my knee to try to swim my hand through to hook his shoulder,I can do the set-up on the arm from side control by securing onto my own collar before I pop-up for the knee-ride..classes and mat time are the best no doubt but it's also great to have the tube, it helps to expand my thoughts to further options without having to wait to be shown..sweet!

  • The key to the armlock is proper leverage, your butt should be as close to their shoulder as possible, also try holding their wrist instead of lower on their arm, this increases the distance to the fulcrum (elbow) and allows you to generate a larger force moment, its pure newtonian physics

  • These positions are very common in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy over here in Brazil, where I train. The basics are the best! :)

  • so is this his full time job ???

  • DAMN IT! I LOVE THESE VIDEOS!!!

  • how do you guys do the armlock ? when I do it it never hurts the other person :S , although I have his arm between my legs, i hold it with my hands and I'm pushing my hips up, and nothing, it just doesn't work

  • When you extend the arm try pulling it slightly to the side using your leg as a fulcrum instead of going straight down. It goes on a lot quicker.

  • try getting your butt as near to the guys body as possible. this increases the pressure on his arm when you raise your hips,

  • make sure his elbow is slightly past or on ur hips make it the fulcrum and the rest of the arm the lever

  • @omuleanu make sure you pinch ur knees togther and that the foot over the head is as close too your butt ass posible becasue that is what allow u to lift ur hips up high for the break or tap.

  • i used to have the same problemb when doin it from mount. u gota make sure ure as close to him as humanly possible and make sure his thumb is pointing up too.

  • @omuleanu make sure his thumb is up, legs down, hips up

  • beautiful. ten thumbs up.

  • The strength of this video isn't the basic technique but the one-two combo of them.

  • reallll good

    great quality sub 101

  • dude's really good

  • nicely done . . thanks for the technique . .

  • Ari videos or die!!!

  • Just got back from my judo class, and in a scratch match, I was in side control on my weak side and though, "what was that move again." I mean I watched this vid a 6, and judo started a 6:30, was so happy that I won my match using this, especially with the class watching, and it was against a higher ranking student. Thanks Guys.

  • Thankyou, will be trying that first thing in the Gym, thanks from Gym'll Fix It , Manchester, England!

  • 101 submissions! is the best!!!

  • Yeah they are!

    Great techs, thanks!

  • Great vid.

  • For the first armbar would that work no gi? Or do you really need to grab the pants to spin yourself around..Great video tho thanks

  • yep...that works nogi as well

  • That armbar works no-gi. It probably works better no gi than with the gi. I'm sure he only grabbed the pants to stop the spin out escape. To answer your question, no, you don't need to grab the pants in order to spin around.

  • With all due respect, I feel this technique is better with the gi. It will work no-gi if you have the opponent's arm trapped and you're grabbing your shoulder rather than the gi. But there's a lot more friction involved with the gi that makes it harder for him to slip out. Just my experience.

  • @liquiddna true you have a point. If your partners are slipping out. Try controlling the elbow as you sit instead of trying to extend the arm. your partner will naturally bend his arm then you can use the armbar grip breaks which i'm sure you already know. hopefully i explained that well enough for it to help you.

  • Couldn't understand a word he said, but good moves i'll try em at my bjj class tonight

  • Takes some time to get used to the Brazilian accent but then it is easy peasy ;-)

  • @Submissions101 It's not Brazilian accent... it is Octavio's accent...

  • These are really good, thanks for showing them.

  • niceeee
