Though this world's essentially an absurd place to be living in It doesn't call for total withdrawal I've been told it's a fact of life Men have to kill one another Well I say there are still things worth fighting for La Resistance! Though this world's essentially an absurd place to be living in It doesn't call for (bubble withdrawal) It said human existence is pointless As acts of rebellious solidarity Can bring sense in this world La Resistance!
@thevoluptuous The original version, called 'French Disco', appeared on the 'Jenny Ondioline' EP. The band later re-recorded it as 'French Disko' (this version here) and released it as a limited edition single in November 1993, getting them their first Top 75 UK chart placing. I also remember this version getting played on breakfast radio. This version can also be found on 'Refried Ectoplasm (Switched On Volume 2)'.

@fatfrankblack Yeah - one of many, as I recall! I have dim memories of the great men coming back from a holiday and playing about 4 songs straight off, this being one of them, and Mark describing each of them as the greatest song ever recorded. Which is exactly why it was such a briliant show - PASSION!
An awesome band. Takes me back this song. Laetitia, another bird who must have lost my number. Along with Hope Sandoval, Bilinda Butcher and Naomi Yang.
@thesourceenforcer great days. Hit the north, with mark and lard was my mysical upbringing. It's great to know others remember it too. Although 93-94 (god I feel old).
@MrJimojim Yes, it really is that long ago! This song and Stina Nordenstam's Little Star are the two songs that take right back to being 17 and listening to Mark and Lard live from the 'Palace of Glittering Delights'.
@thesourceenforcer Your coment made me think back to some of the great tunes that would have passed me by if it wasn't for them. Little green bag (won their 3 for fun at end of show for weeks), inspirals with Mark e smith I want you, Frentes accidently kelly street, bowie and the jam. Even their Radio one show was good, I wish they would work together again. 'Biggybiggybong'
Great track. Happy memories.
